CORRECTION: The "tricolor aeronautical" color scheme is likely based on the Xenogears gear from Xenogears. My Gundam theory is likely a secondary reference or simply a coincidence!
The "villainous" color could likely be based on either T-elos or Weltall, as well!
It may be a reference to Rex's master driver outfit
Also the villain one could be a kinda reference to Malos
So apparently p/m when they perform certain moves the same similar red markings appear on their chest which are similar to the Weltall, but it might mean nothing due to all alts having this effect.
@@ElectricBeyond I doubt that since his Master Driver's outfit is more similar to Mythra as well as having no red in it compared to Xenogears.

I believe Silver Mythra is a reference to Addam Origo the original Driver of Mythra in Torna the Golden Country (DLC); both have silver hair and golden eyes (the eyes of Addam are something really important in the DLC story)
Silver Mythra could also be a reference to Jin
And if you want to go super woke, Pyra could the Zohar from Xenosaga and Mythra the item that's used to summon it or Albedo, wich is also related to the Zohar
I think that the Silver Mythra isnt a reference to Addam, because his look is also a Sephiroth & Cloud reference problem, since Mythra is tottaly bright and metalic Silver and Addam clearly wears bright White and Grey, in Sephiroth it was the same thing with the Silver color for Sephiroth not being a reference to Rufus Shinra, Mythra is being bright Silver and the Addam white clothes, so I dont think its a reference to him
Albeit vague, Silver might actually be a pairing to the Gold one, considering that the Gold one might be based on the Zohar, from Xenosaga, and the silver one resembles the Mini-Zohar. There is also the analogy made by Rex about Pneuma being the combination of Pyra and Mythra as "coffee with milk", brown and white, or in this case "Gold and Silver". Also the Saturated Pyra resembles the Monado because she have blue accents instead of the green ones of the default one.
I think the reason Pyra’s spirit wasn’t censored like Mythra’s was because, unlike Mythra, Pyra has only a little bit of thigh and her back showing, compared to mythra who has bare cleavage as well as her entire legs bare
all doe if you look at the skirt of mythra's spirit you can see her pantie/underwear
Color 5 and 6 are references to Weltall and Xenogears respectively, which are the protagonist's Gears in Xenogears.
I was thinking the same thing especially with the red and white contrast the characters with Pyra and Id for Red and Mythra and Fei for White respectively.
Personally, I don't think the dark color is Poppi. If it's supposed to be her, it's a terrible reference in my opinion. The white and blue costume could also be a reference to Rex's master driver outfit, although that outfit doesn't have any red on it.
@@conorb.1901 I think that the blue costume is a reference to KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. Makes sense since KOS-MOS is pratically MonolithSoft mascot
@@Rod-sm1sk I can see that, but KOS-MOS doesn't really have that much blue on her besides Xenosaga 2. I think the other one, the more red white and black one could easily be KOS-MOS though.
Either way, I think Pyra and Mythra's costumes are great.

Some people like to think the last alts could be a reference to Lora and Jin, but the colors don't add up too well to support that

A lot of people may have been disappointed with this wave of Mii costumes, but I love the Arthur one.

Black/red pyra looks like Ryuko from kill la Kill. Now I want a mod of that.

The characters code has one of them as a single slot value, with this I believe they were originally going to have the hood and/or swimsuit alts but scrapped them.
Probably Pyra’s Disguise lol.
Either that, or maybe they were planned to be separate characters instead of being able to freely swap between the 2.
Either way, Xenoblade pretty much have 3 playable characters in Smash.
I can somewhat understand why they didn’t do it, but does anyone else find it weird how Pyra and Mythra’s swords don’t change color?
none of the swords change color except sephiroth's sword which changes hilt colors. it's only really easy to notice with characters like the xenoblade reps who have color on their swords
Even in Xenoblade 2, their swords don't change color with the costumes.

It just doesn’t really make sense for the sword to change colour. Pyra is a fire blade therefore her sword is red. Mythra is a light blade meaning her sword is white and yellow. Changing the sword colour would be like changing their element.
Yeah that irks me since their swords match their outfits. Makes me want not to use other alts
The Tricolor motif really gives a KOS MOS vibe. Lets not forget that KOS MOS was almost like Monoliths soft mascot during the Xenosaga era.
Another reference with the Felyne hat is that the design was used for the Felyne crossover villager in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
aside from the Pneuma alt, honestly Pyra/Mythra’s alts should have been designed after the main characters just like Shulk’s alts. i would have loved for there to be a Morag Pyra and Brighid Mythra alt
I was actually looking forward to having either Pyra or Mythra with Brigid's hair. That would have been so cool!!! :(
Personally, I thought Dromarch, Brighid, and Pandoria were going to get spirits, since they are the only party member characters that weren’t already present
@@PerfectChaos115 in all honesty they appear alongside the other party members such as a white Incineroar with Nia's spirit and Palutena's blue alt with Morag's spirit so it feels redundant of adding them when they're with their drivers.

I wonder what Zeke Pyra and Pandoria Mythra would have looked like in terms of eyes (since Zeke has an eyepatch and Pandoria has opaque glasses).
I would like to imagine the silver is a reference to Jin.
That could easily make the bronze a reference to Lora, making that the Torna skin.

The deep red alt for pyra is DEFINITELY a reference to the monado. That red, and that blue (which they changed her core crystal too) is 1000% a reference to the monado! And the final alt, is I think a reference to torna. Mythra is Jin (one of the main charcaters of torna) and pyra is golden, and torna is named “the golden country” even in Japan. I think maybe you should remake the video? Because these two combined with the obvious xenogear alt you missed make most of this obsolete.
the mythra from the deep red pyra alt also looks a lot like rex‘ unique healing blade in my opinion
The alts that are “tri-color” are likely a reference to the Rex Master Driver suit. The silver and gold ones are likely references to Jin and that one girl

Lora. And I don't think that the gold/bronze Pyra skin is a reference to Lora, as Lora was more red and white then gold or bronze

The reason why they did that to Pyra and Mythra's clothes is not just because of ESRB who rated Smash Ultimate E10, but also CERO who rated Smash Ultimate A, the equivalent of E, and CERO is way more strict that every rating system we know.
With certain things yes, but I've played many games there were rated A in Japan and T/12 in the rest of the world. Pandora's Tower is C in Japan and T/12 as in Japan what she eats is directly stated to be monster organs, while censored to be just meat in the west. Last Story B in Japan, 16 in Europe, and T in NA...

@@BJGvideos "but it's gross" and things like that probably (and eating raw organs, or meat in general, isn't the best idea), but honestly, most things in life are gross if you think too hardly about them. For example, if you are are in an old town, chances are wherever you may stand in the street, someone has gone to the bathroom or died on that very spot. Yes it's gross, but that's life..!
I'd add to Felyne reference the fact that Felyne was a camper for Animal Crossing New Leaf Welcome Amiibo through the Felyne amiibo and this style was used for the villager !

They were. Rathalos Armor from Monster Hunter, Hunter's Armor from Monster Hunter, Felyne Hat from Monster Hunter, and Sir Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins

Man, with Lloyd's Mii Outfit having still not returned, I really think and hope he becomes a fighter.
Bandai Namco needs another rep, in my opinion. Pac-Man is not enough. Even Microsoft got 2 reps before them.
Tekken could work with Jin, but I really think Lloyd (or Yuri) has the bigger chance here.

It's possible that Color 5 is meant as a reference to Weltall from Xenogears. If it was supposed to be Poppi QTpi, it probably would've been used in her spirit battle in place of Zero Suit, especially since QTpi's weapon is inspired by the Aegis.
If it's supposed to be a reference to QT pi, I can't see it. The hair is too dark, the outfit isn't quite black, and the lights on Poppi's body are orange, not red. Weltal matches almost perfectly though.
@@conorb.1901 It fits well with the idea that Color 6 is supposed to be Xenogears, since it's not like Sakurai could come right out and say they are.

Alt 5 is as my friends and I call it, the Colgate sponsored Pyra and Mythra skin
Furthering the possibility of the skin being a gundam reference, mii gunners default appearance bears incredible similarities to emma sheen from gundam, gunners outfit being almost 1:1 with one of emmas outfits along with their faces looking similar

im pretty sure 3:38 is a reference to Weltall from Xenogears as the colors match up more than Popi QTπ which has blue hair. he also mentions it having a villainous look

I honestly think Lloyd could be an actual Chraracter or that at least tells Nintendo is cooking up something with Namco. I don’t know... I have this feeling in my gut, that the costume would already have been added if Namco and Nintendo didn’t have something in mind from the Tales series.
"Aeronautical" Pyra reminds me a little of Skyla from Pokemon Black/White.
I’d really like to see this kind of videos “origins” about Victory Themes... it would be interesting... I really love victory themes in the Smash franchise 🙃
Ok I got it. The dark colour scheme is a reference to Weltall from Xenogears. The tricolour colour scheme is a reference to Xenogears from Xenogears. The 7th colour scheme puts Pyra in the colours of the Monado from Xenoblade 1, and Mythra in the colours of Zanza's Monado from the same game. The gold and silver scheme is probably just a gold and silver scheme, unless there's some kind of Xeno reference I'm missing cause I was too young to play video games when Xenosaga came out.

5:33 It's also the default costume for Monster Hunter in MvCI, also three of her costume slots are the Kirin Armor.
Quick note: The Gold Pyra costume looks incredibly similar to the placeholder image for Rare Blade artwork in Xenoblade 2. Also of note is that the Common Blade placeholder image hapens to resemble the Pneuma alt for Pyra quite a bit.

The p7 colors, the high saturation colors, remind me of the bootleg Pyra and Mythra statues.
The Mii costume = deconfirmed argument is weakened a bit by the fact K. Rool and Isabelle's Mii costumes are still there, and the Spirit = deconfirmed argument is basically destroyed by these ladies.
Dude I had the same thought when I saw their white/blue color, I looked at it and said "dude they gave her a Gundam color. Nice model render you found for the picture to. It kinda looks like a HG model.

So I'm confident you got the pnuema description wrong. She's essentially the "True Form" of the Aegis. Mythra was another personality created by her because of something involving her power, it's been awhile since I played the game. Mythra then after sinking 2 continents during the Aegis was traumatized by her power and then created Pyra an alternate personality who I think is weaker than Mythra but did so in order to make sure thier destructive power is never unleashed onto the world again.
The sword and shield that the Rathalos armor uses is actually the Djinn, which is still made from Rathalos materials.
I like the enhanced ones being the 7th alt, I like the red accent on mythra and the dark blue instead of the light green, they just pop more while keeping their original colours
White and Black color palletes are based on KOS-MOS and T-ELOS from Xenosaga respectevely.

Honestly I was really hoping for their swimsuit alts, but smash is for good boys and good girls.
I am guessing they look very hot in those outfits!!!

Cause those outfits or costumes for Samus are very revealing and I doubt those ones for Pyra and Mythra would be as revealing so to me it kinda seems like a weird decision but who knows maybe there is a explanation.

Hey, if you ever run out of character features to cover, maybe you could cover the references in the stages? I’ll admit, I don’t recognize some of the stages from the 64 era.
If you want my personal theory: I believe the gold and silver alts are a possible reference to aurum and argentum, the wolves of gold and silver.
The last costume is a reference to the best generation of Pokémon.

I always thought the dark color scheme was a reference to Malos (Black Hair/Colors) and Alvis' Core Crystal (key was replaced by Red Aegis Core Crystal in Definitive Edition).

The black and red costume is actually a reference to Weltall from Xenogears. Even though Monolithsoft does not own the rights to Xenogears, there are references to it in Xenoblade 2 with Zeke having a costume in the color scheme of Bart and Poppi Qt Pi having one of the character Emeralda.

Alt 4 and 4 seem to be Xenogears references with 4 being based on Weltall (Like seriously, it doesn’t look like Poppi at all) and 5 being based on, well, the Xenogears.
I kept thinking the Pneu*a color scheme was reference to earlier Xenoblade heroine KOS-MOS, whose name I had to look up. [Also, I REALLY wish they had done the Sans/Cuphead thing with Sir Arthur and included a music track; the Level 1 theme is iconic]
