What I like the most about your videos is that they are short but very informative.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate the support and am glad they are helpful 🙌
Thank you so much for your videos! You are the cutest RUclipsr Cruisers. Our family loves watching your videos 😊
Thanks for your video! I am excited for my cruise coming up and I am going to use your trips to help me plan and save $$ 😁
Bruce I'm so glad to hear the video was helpful. Thanks for your support! There's a new video coming out today!
I enjoy your videos as they’re short but informative. Love this shirt you’re wearing.
Here's a tip for cruisers who like an occasional cocktail but don't get the drink package. NCL ships have a daily drink special that's usually about $3 cheaper on that day, for example the signature mai tai and long island iced tea. So ask the bartender what the drink of the day is and save a few dollars!
Hi Elizabeth 👋 Thanks for sharing this tip, it's a great one!! I think you can also find the drink of the day on the back of the Freestyle Daily
I'm going to do this on my cruise next April. It's 16 days. I am entitled to a free drink package but the gratuities are almost $400. Just ordering drinks a la carte will be less than the grat lol. Im boring...ice tea is my choice of poison lol. Oh but I will be bringing a bottle of wine.
@@stacythomas1587 A free drink package (you mean soft drinks or alcohol??) because on my 8 day cruise to the Bahamas recently, the drinks package (meaning alcohol drinks) was $109 per person, PER DAY. That's a lot of drinking. I'm not a drinker so I wouldn't know about it, but I cannot imagine such a package being free for any reason.
Great advice and tips. Very useful and precise. I' ll be cruising on New Years,on Epic. First time on Norwegian.
Hi Lily 👋 Thanks so much for the kind words, it means the world to mean that people are enjoying the videos and they're helpful. I hope you have a beautiful day!
Grant, I just ran across your channel and have enjoyed all the videos I have watched so far. Two weeks ago I booked a trip on the Encore out of Miami in December. This will be my first cruise and I have so many questions and concerns. I feel a bit overwhelmed trying to learn as much as I can to make the right choices so I can enjoy an amazing vacation and to not break the bank. Your videos have helped answer some of my questions and have also given me some additional things to think about. Look forward to watching more. Best.. Jason
Hi Jason! Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm sorry for the delay in replying. I've been travelling (sadly not on a cruise) : ) Yay for your first cruise; that's very exciting! I have more videos coming up soon that may help, by don't hesitate to drop a comment if there's anything in particular you're curious about, you're probably not the only one!
Me: See sweetheart! Grant cruises all the time and he wears “Hawaiian” shirts sometimes.
Wife: yeah but he looks good in his.
Me: 😕
I just completed my first NCL cruise. While on board I booked my next cruise with cruise next. Got a really good deal. Recommend looking into this if you cruise NCL a lot. Also biggest sales are around July 4th
You are the only one I saw talked about laundry!!! Thank you!
Hi winterlilith 👋 you’re most welcome! Laundry is important, especially if you’re taking a longer cruise ☺️ Any cruises lined up for you?
Great advice Grant. Thanks!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Just discovered your channel & am I a happy camper 😊. I'm a NCL fan and it's great to get all info in such a clear, concise & FUN way. Thank you 😊 ❤
Hi Cheryl 👋 I'm so sorry for the delay in getting back you to. I wanted to let you know that when I received your comment it made me smile ear to ear. Thank you so much for your kind words, it really does mean the most to me! ❤️❤️❤️ More good things are coming, stay tuned! Any cruises lined up for you?
@norwegiancruiseline
@Cruise with Grant wow thanks for the reply 😊. Going on Escape In December 2023. So excited, going with 3 other ladies (we are new retirees 😄) and to celebrate we are booked in the Haven! Can't wait. Have a fabulous Sunday ❤️
Very Helpful. Keep up the good work. Your voice is easy to hear and understand. A La Cart Dining voucher part of Video was informative. Perhaps do a separate Video just covering this as it seems complicated. We just came off Prima and like you said they had given us a Coupon Mid Cruise for Laundry. $29.99 all you can stuff in a Laundry Bag.
Hi Raymond 👋 Thanks for the feedback and encouragement, it really means alot to me when people share that the channel is helpful! I'll certainly see what I can do about providing some more info in a future video about the dining packages and latitudes dining coupons / voucher. I hope you're having a super day! Any cruises coming up for you?
Just booked my first NCL cruise on the Jewel from San Diego in January. Looking forward to learn more about this cruise line. Been on Royal, Princess and Viking in the past.
Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, the jewel-class ships are my favourite! Stay tuned, new videos coming this week and next
Thanks for sharing
Great tips! Thanks Grant!!
Most welcome! 😊
Awesome video keep it coming ❤
Hi Tara 👋 Thank you so much for the kind words, it means so much to me! I'm going to my best to get more good stuff published soon! Stay tuned!! 🫶
Great video! Thank you! :)
Thanks Nicolas! I'm so glad you like it! 🫶
Great tips. Thanks
Hi CrazyCanuckFitness 👋 Thank you so much! I'm glad they were helpful to a fellow 🇨🇦
Great tips. Haven't cruised NCL yet but sounds like these tips would be very helpful.
Thanks for the kind words! I've sailed with Princess, Holland America and NCL so far and NCL my favourite. More videos coming your way shortly to help you with all the ins and outs of how things work! Feel free to let me know if there's anything you're interested in and I'll do my best help!
Thanks Grant! I will be watching! If you ever did an Alaska Cruise it would be nice to know tips of that itinerary and how to cruise there with NCL.
@@Yadiney24 Sorry for not responding earlier. I haven't done an Alaska cruise just yet, but it's certainly on my bucket list. Everyone I've met who has done a cruise says it's amazing. If you use Facebook there are also a few groups that may be good to ask for tips on specific itineraries. Hope this is helpful!
thanks for the tips
Thanks Pam for the kind words! I'm thrilled at how positive everyone has been about my videos!

Love that shirt 😍
Awww thank you so much 🫶 It's so funny, whenever I wear this shirt I always get so many compliments!
The ship stores have been a disappointment on the last few Norwegian cruises that I’ve been on! Very little ship swag or anything else except jewelry or expensive pocketbooks!!
I've enjoyed modern churasco, and next will try le bistro and cagneys.
Hi Jacqueline! Thanks for the comment. I really like Modern, but Cagney's is superb! The side dishes alone are worth the trip, don't skip the truffle french fries or mashed potatoes! Yum! 😍 No I'm hungry!
@@CruisewithGrant I will think of you when I order them!
Thanks again for the helpful information! There was a Father's Day deal called Cruisefirst where a $250 deposit turns into a $500 credit on a cruise you book later. 10 minutes later we were booking our FIRST NCL CRUISE!!!! Very excited and since it is in November we don't have a long wait. In the last 4 years we have cruised in late January or late February so this will be our first time doing a Caribbean cruise in November. Have you done one in November?
Hi Ry Guy 👋 Congratulations! That all happened pretty quickly. You're right November is just around the corner. I can't believe it's already June. Which ship will you be sailing on for your first cruise?
I have done one Caribbean cruise end of year, last year I was on the Getaway in late November. In general things were good, but it also coincided with a big storm that meant we didn't stop in Bermuda. Hopefully the weather is calmer this coming fall.
@@CruisewithGrant We are starting our NCL cruising experience with 7 nights on the Epic. We went back and forth between the Epic in November and the Epic or Encore in February 2025. The price savings plus being able to cruise sooner had us landing on November 9-16 of this year. We hate not having a countdown to our next cruise going so once we start looking at cruises we decide pretty quickly what we want to try next. We've not been to Puerta Plata, Tortola, or St. Thomas so this itinerary was perfect. Stirrup Cay looks so much more enticing than DCL's Castaway and the Beatle's music definitely helped sway my wife over to trying a new cruise line. Going out of Port Canaveral means we can do a day at Disney to make her happy and get her Mickey/Minnie fix lol!
I was on the transatlantic from NY to London
Hi Kathleen, I've done a few transatlantics. My last one was on the Getaway from Rome to Miami back in December 2021. Hoping for another at the end of this year on the NCL Star, fingers crossed!
I like you. Your right to the point,no crap no joking. Can't stand the fat cruise guy who is loud and obnoxious and the other one who complains all the time. I'm subscribing.thank you!😎😎
Geez, did you have to insult them?
Hi!! Love your videos. Were planning a first ever cruise and the options are endless, but we have been leaning towards NCL. It will be three generations-grandparents, us and our 3 year old daughter. Silly question but there is still no more towel animals? Or was that just due to covid?
Hi Francis 👋 Congrats on your first cruise, it's a big step, but so exciting!! 🎉 So I'm sad to say that they aren't doing towel animals anymore, at least not automatically. I have heard that if you ask they may still do them, particularly because you have a young child. So feel free to ask, it certainly can't hurt. Do you know which ship(s) you might sail on?
My time looking at ur channel .
Hi Grant: I’ll be sailing the NCL Pearl next week. I wonder if the staterooms come with bathrobes? I’ll have an enclosed balcony stateroom. Thanks
Hi there lovecanada geese 👋
I got you covered 😉 Have the best time on your cruise! I really like the Pearl!
Top 5 MUST DO TIPS for the first day of your Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) cruise
ruclips.net/video/toNCXPzbs_w/видео.html
Grant question? So if I buy the two-night each meal is 44 per person? And I can eat at the Japanese restaurant twice? My son loves sushi 🍣 and I don't think 🤔 they offer that in the main dining room
So the port drink taxes are added even for the ones that are included in the cruise price.
Wow charging for drinks when ships in ports seem very sneaky to me
NCL isn’t charging you for the drink on top of what you already paid for your package. The charge is a tax and is levied by the port, not NCL.
R THEY STILL DOING TESTING AT THE PORTS ???
Hi Grant! Once again - thanks a lot for all your videos and advice.
Our first cruise with NCL is fast approaching and I’m still trying to understand how the service charge / gratuities will work for us.
Long story, short: We pre-paid our gratuities in full when we booked the cruise, as we didn’t want to worry about dealing with these whilst on board.
We also have the “Free at Sea” included.
We assume that if we decide to make use of the spa, or use any similar service (that we have to pay extra on board) we will have to pay more in gratuities… is that right?
But my two main questions are:
1. Will we have to pay extra gratuities when we use our free meals at the specialty restaurants (included with Free at Sea)?
2. Will we be paying extra gratuities every time we get drinks (the ones included in the Free at Sea offer) from the bars?
I tried reading the terms and conditions again and again and, although, they state that gratuities (in both of these cases) are included in the price of the prepaid package, they do not make it 100% clear as the wording can easily be misleading and misinterpreted.
Thank you so much for your help.
Paying the pre-paid gratuity means you don't pay more gratuity onboard but always check your account after each day to make sure they didn't charge you extra by "accident" and if they did then go to guest services to have them remove it before that day ends. Not pre-paying gratuity means you will pay gratuity on each drink, each specialty diner, each time, per person. Make a list of what's included vs not included to keep you on track with "spending" -Bon Voyage!
I am so excited to sail on the Prima in January 15 2023. Any ideas how to save on the excursions, and drinks while sailing. This is only my second cruise and I am a solo cruiser.
You're so lucky to be going on the Prima, I'm jealous! You'll have a wonderful time cruising solo, I've done about half my cruises on my own : ) I'll share below a link to another video I made on the Free at Sea Shore Excursion perk, that may help with saving some money. You can also explore booking tours with a third-party company using a site like Viator, however I've missed tours in the past because the ship arrives late. So there are benefits, but also drawbacks. You'll choose what's right for you! ruclips.net/video/aqBG1QncKco/видео.html
How is it going??
Be careful - do not take future cruise coupons if they or you cancel. They are not refundable if you have to cancel. Also, the coupons have limited use period.
I thought food was included on a cruise?
But you're expected to pay extra for some menus?
Hi Grant, do have the latest NCL protocols for pre-embarkation at Civitavecchia?
Hi there, on the NCL sail safe they have a separate link to local requirements. They were just updated today! Hope this helps: www.ncl.com/ca/en/travel-requirements-by-country

Any suggestions on how to get extra Lattitude points during a cruise? Or other methods?
Hi Chris 👋 That's a great question. The best way to get extra points is to keep an eye on the Latitudes Insider offers that you'll receive; they often offer double or triple points. Sometimes you may have to book so far in advance, or during a period. I was able to get 42 points for two seven days cruises which was pretty great. You can also talk to the Cruise Next staff while you're on board about any current or upcoming promotions. Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out my videos. I hope you'll keep watching!
@@CruisewithGrant Thank you Grant! We followed your advice and just got double points on a cruise we had previously booked for March 2023
@@chriscoward8305 woop woop! That’s amazing news 🥳🥳🥳
Laundry is now $29.99 per bag.
Is that the cruise you did
I have to admit NCL is quite confusing compared to RCL. Booked 9nts on Viva in the Haven and didn't realize the specialty dinning is not included aside from 3 free at sea meals. (RCL star class everything is included) With so many specialty options on Viva it's difficult to know how many meals outside the Haven is adequate???? Love variety but is it worth the additional expense.
Hi Bruce! It's always tough figuring out the differences on different cruise lines, I felt the same on Princess and HAL. I would say my experience is that the number of specialty dinings you'll want to have will depend on the length of your cruise. I'd say 3 is a great start for 7 day cruise. A longer cruise like 14 days you may want to bump that up to 5. They often offer you upgrades to add on meals to your Free at Sea for a cheaper price. Feel free to send along any other questions and I'll do my best to help. Also you're so lucky to be booked on the Viva, she looks amazing!!
The food in the Haven restaurant was amazing. We used our free at sea promo meals and then at in the Haven restaurant.
@@allkristiningram Thanks for sharing your experience Kristin! 😊I'm still dreaming about getting to try the Haven of of these days!
Thank you for the video, it is very informative.
We have done 4 NCL cruises since 2016
Breakaway - Spa Suite guest
Breakaway Haven guest
Encore Haven guest
Joy Haven guest
Most recently I ultilized the Manderin Spa for a hair cut and a shave and it was the most incredible experiance Ive ever had in a barber shop.
* I like the Laundry tip as we are booked on the Prima as a Haven guest 11 day Transatlantic next November.
We dont drink Alcohol but thank you for that tio.
Note - The Joy DOES NOT have Spa Balcony Suites. The other Breakaway class ships we were on did. The reason I mention the Spa suites are because they are a major upgrade that is affordable opposed to the Haven which I realize is very costly for a lot of people.
If you wish and the ship does have the use of the spa area you can purchase that or it is free with a spa suite.
The spa on the Breakaway had a separate indoor pool, heated and cooled lounge chairs, hot tubs Sauna, steam room , and Salt bath room.
Again I realize that the Haven is expensive but we skip certain things during the year and save up to do the Haven. Imo the Haven is the only way to go and the perks are too many for me to list.
It is my hope that anyine that reads this gets the opportunity to experiance it.
Thank you once again.
Hi Cha! 👋 Thanks for sharing your experience. Wow, you're definitely a pro cruiser and you've even stayed in the Haven! It's always great to hear what the different categories of rooms have to offer. I haven't yet stayed in the Spa balcony or the Haven, definitely still on my wish list! Any cruises coming up for you?
Does free at sea include all Excursions?
No. You get $50 off the regular price of a shore excursion.
Hello Grant! Random questions since I haven't cruised with NCL before.
1. Do I need a credit card for my cruise card or is there a way to deposit cash into the card?
2. Are purchasing future deposits through cruise first or cruise next a good way to save money? Is there any difference between the two?
3. Have you stayed in the solo cabins? If so are there any advantages for solo travelers compare to being a solo traveler in a different cabin type?
Hi Erica, these are great questions. I'll try to point you in the right direction with a couple of answers so please stick with me. #1, credit card is the easiest, but you can use cash to put a deposit. Please see the related link for details: www.ncl.com/ca/en/cruise-faq/onboard-expenses
#2, this is a big one. I've recently done some reading on this. There are BIG differences in the terms and conditions for cruise first vs. cruise next. A few big ones being cruise next is valid for 4 years, cruise first is only 3. But perhaps most important, you can't use cruise first on the Sailaway category of rooms, the best deals that NCL offers. This would be a dealbreaker for me as the next step up is usually much more expensive.
Link: www.ncl.com/ca/en/terms/cruisefirst
#3, I haven't stayed in a solo cabin (I intended to on my last cruise but got a last minute upgrade), but I've seen quite a few on my travels. They can be much cheaper, but not always so please check prices. The main advantage is that you don't pay for a second guest, as all other rooms the cost is based on two people. For other thought I'll keep you hanging a bit until I publish an upcoming video on solo travel. with NCL 😎
@@CruisewithGrant thanks
Meals all don’t come with cruise? I never heard of a sailing with all day dinners, buffets, etc?
Hi Justine 👋 Not to worry there are plenty of delicious options for dining included on your cruise, including buffets, main dining rooms and later night options. You know I'm all about that food! Some dining options are "specialty" and there are charges connected to those.
