    Avoid the long lines to get off! We booked a bus tour of the Miami Beach area. We went to the Breakaway theater and were met by the bus tour rep. He walked us off right to the bus for the 2 our tour of Miami Beach and its art deco areas. It also included a quick stop in little Havana. They dropped us off at Miami Intl with plenty of time to make our flight. Definitely well worth it to avoid the lines getting off the ship!

    I may have made tip #5 into #1 as the result of an October '22 Alaska cruise on NCL. Despite purchasing the Premium Plus beverage package, I found that I had been charged for every drink when I checked my onboard account! Luckily I checked this before leaving the ship and was able to correct the situation with Guest Services.

    Like your Internet, any unused (non refundable ) OBC gets dissolved once you get your final bill, so don't leave any free money on the table!

    Disembarkation a couple of weeks ago from Getaway in Port Canaveral, Florida was incredibly frustrating and such a chaotic mess. There were delays, non-existent color section, which ended up being in 3 different places, and very little help from NCL staff. Took me over an hour to find my suitcase. After experiencing such a wonderful cruise and amazing service, this was such a disappointment. I will definitely self-debark next time I sail with NCL.

    I did the Old San Juan tour. If you book your flight through the cruiseline, they will schedule a later flight if you have a tour. Warning, the OSJ tour only goes to the fort. Then it drives you to a couple of spots like a beach on the way to the airport.

    My husband’s shore excursion was cancelled at one of our ports. We weee directed to speak with the shore excursions desk to get the credit adjusted on the account as the amount we received back was inaccurate. That is one thing the front desk does not appear to be able to handle.

    What happens to your luggage when doing an excursion on Disembarkation day? Do you have to carry/wheel your bags around wth you or is there someplace safe to stow them until you head to the airport?

    • @CruisewithGrant
      @CruisewithGrant  Год назад +3

      Hi Stacy 👋 This is a popular question; the three times I've done this they've had a big tour bus where bags are stored until you get to the airport. Very convenient!

    • @CruisewithGrant
      @CruisewithGrant  2 года назад +1

      Hi there! This is a great question. If you book an excursion you get a specific coloured luggage tags. They take your bags for you off the ship to the terminal for you, and then they get loaded into the bottom of the airport bus that takes you on the excursion. This has made it super easy for me the 3 times I've done this. Hope this was helpful 😊

    On my first NCL cruise I mad the mistake of leaving our passports in our luggage to be taken to the terminal building.
    I did manage to get them before they carted them down to storage, and I found out that it wouldn't really have mattered much, but I was nervous anyway.
    It's easy to forget what to wear on disembarkation day, especially cruising in the winter months and returning to ConUS.

    If the ship arrives at port at 7 what is the earliest one can get off?

    • @CruisewithGrant
      @CruisewithGrant  Год назад +1

      Hi Robert 👋 the time you can get off depends. Usually when the ship arrives they will have to clear the local customs; sometimes this takes an hour, but I've been in ports where it has taken upwards of 2 hours. It depends on the local protocols and inspection requirements. Hope this is helpful!

      @patriotshawna5351 we did not. We should have gotten off sooner and not waited until they announced it and should have been in line at docking. We also took too long waiting for lyft instead of just jumping in a taxi that were waiting. Missed it by 10 minutes. Other than that, we would have made it. But it was a fun spontaneous road trip home nevertheless

    #ourfirstcruise

    • @CruisewithGrant
      @CruisewithGrant  Год назад

      Hello 👋 Great question, and the answer is it depends. But in general even when I do the fastest possible (walk-off with my own luggage), I find that it can take 30 minutes or so to wait in line as everyone is getting scanned off by security. Just a note that when the ship arrives is not necessarily when they start letting people disembark, they have to clear certain custom checks. So give yourself plenty of time, particularly if you're booking your flights home. Hope this helps! If you have ay other questions don't hesitate to reach out on Instagram @cruisewithgrant

    • @JulieWallis1963
      @JulieWallis1963 Год назад +2

      If you carry off your own cases and you have booked an early flight home you should be able to leave pretty early.
      but please don’t book a 9am flight if you’re due to arrive at 6am as it’s not alway a quick disembarkation.
      Getting through the port can sometimes be busy and hence slow, for instance, we arrived in Fort Lauderdale at 6am. Disembarkation began at 7 or 8 and we were in a group that let us off at about 9.30. It was gone 11 by time we had queued up and got through passport control, customs, baggage reclaim and onto our airport transfer. Very happy our flight was after 5pm on that occasion.
      So short answer to how long is this piece of string is…it could be anywhere from less than an hour to over 3 hours. Depending on how many are in front of you.

      Hi GC 👋 That's a good question. You may want to try asking the room steward, I've never requested anything like that. I'd say you could try using the laundry bags, but they're paper and wouldn't hold up too well 😜

    • @OkieTLB
      @OkieTLB 11 месяцев назад

      We always travel with a nylon laundry bag with a few Bounce sheets in there to help ward off the not so pleasant smells. You could always just take a regular trash bag.
