  • Well, Autumn is nearly at full swing. Rain, muddy, leafy ground is upon us mobile mechanics here in UK. But hey ho, what can we do? Let's keep moving forward!
    For this video, we replaced a 2007 Renault Clio Clutch. The customer experienced a very stiff pedal, attempting to change gears to come off the M1, but unfortunately for him, his concentric slave cylinder failed. Watch the video to find out how it happened and how you can avoid it.
    We also replaced an Audi S5 Control as something really dangerous happened to it.

    Treating changing the clutch fluid as a regular service item is a really good and, you would think, an obvious idea - however, I am sure many folks would never think of this even though they always do their brake fluid / gearbox / diff oils etc! I will get mine done as I am sure it's never been changed in 15 years as still on original clutch! Thanks for the idea.

    It would have been nice if you showed how you bleed the clutch, as some cars you need to do the opposite and back feed them through, only done this once and curious on how vehicles you have to do it this way.

      I’m sure I’m not the only one. Also chain slip is rare at very very very slow rotation. Correct me if I’m wrong?

      @Ahmed____ 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@themarvelousvlog How common it is, I can't say for sure. But I have experienced chain slip on a TFSI engine before. I rotated the flywheel clockwise (i.e. crank rotating anti-clockwise) in the process of tightening the pressure plate bolts, and it resulted in the timing slipping. Didn't realise until I cranked the engine and bent two intake valves.

    Cars don't have clutch fluid per se. There is fluid in hydraulically actuated clutch. And that fluid should be exchanged period odically to prolong life of clutch master and slave cylinders. Don't understand what removing trans and clutch assembly has to do with the simple hydraulically actuated clutch system.

    • @themarvelousvlog
      @themarvelousvlog  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah per se it doesn’t. It used to and a lot of people still know it as ‘clutch fluid’. Now it’s a shared system between the brakes and clutch.
      In regards to “don’t understand what removing trans and clutch assembly has to do with hydraulically actuated clutch system”- well, it is part of the clutch system, isn’t? This customer’s CSC failed and I wanted to show everyone what happened to it- so yeah, it does have something to do with it 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Burnt out clutches or knackered thrust bearimgs make my blood boil. Because they are signs of laziness and idiocy.
    Stop riding the clutch at hill starts when waiting at the junctio. Either that or buy a bloody automatic like most Americans (who cant be bothered using the handbrake either).
    My daughters refuse to use the handbrake, but they change their cars every three years. :-(
