Some of the Stadiums you have mentioned as having hosted soccer games in the past actually have full-time soccer tenants. Mercedes-Benz Arena is the home of Atlanta United, Lumen Field is the home of the Seattle Sounders, and Gilette Stadium is the home of New England Revolution. Perhaps do your research?
Nobody cares about the mls. They’ll still have to renovate all of those stadiums to World Cup standards, which are very different from mls requirements
Metife will likely host it cause it’s NYC area and it’s outdoors, which is better for soccer. Also FIFA likes the final to be held in a stadium with 80k+ capacity which Sofi doesn’t have
The pics for BC Place is tarped off by hanging trap from the top for Vancouver Whitecaps mls games, they will use the whole stadium for the fifa world cup
BC Place original design was virtually identical to the old Indianapolis RCA Dome. They replaced the inflatable roof with the retractable roof in 2011. It's a bit of an eyesore imo, luckily most of the new condos nearby have obscured the exterior from view!
I've been to several soccer games in ATL. Its such a great venue. They curtain off the upper level most of the games. But i've been to United's home opener to a sold out crowd of 75k. Excellent choice for the world cup matches.
I would love the finals to be in Dallas or the Azteca. I know the azteca is not as good as most of the NFL stadium but its a legendary football stadium. Its in the same breath as Wembly, Maracana, Camp Nou, San Siro and Bernabaue
The final won’t be at Azteca, but I’ve heard that it will host the opening match. We should find out for sure where is having what matches this fall, I think.
@@DavidKArrrrgh it means Azteca isn’t as modern and doesn’t drive a lot of revenue due to the lack of suites and club boxes. He didn’t question Azteca’s legacy but was being rather realistic.
@@manuelgrothe608 the NFL season won’t even begin until after the World Cup and FIFA mandates that MLS and other summer leagues take a break during the tournament. So what the hell are you talking about?
The only reason why they’re using SoFi is because it has more seating,LA has two soccer stadiums but their capacity is in the 20,000+ range which is sad because the home field of LAFC is really nice
Both Arrowhead and SoFi need to remove seats in the corners to accommodate the width of a World Cup field. Most of the other more recent NFL facilities were designed with those dimensions already in mind. In fact, toggling between NFL fields and FIFA field was an express design element. It's understandable that Arrowhead, which opened in 1972, missed that flexibility. It boggles my mind that Kroenke--who owns a Premier League team and an MLS team, mind you--spent billions on SoFi in a city that had hosted two World Cup Finals already, yet built a building unable to fit a professional soccer field.
To bid to host the Final, a facility had to meet minimum, seat requirements. Apparently, when the renovations are complete to fit the field, SoFi's capacity will fall below the threshold to submit a bid. That is the "controversy" that I think the video references. The renovations never entailed removing the whole lower bowl. Merely a few rows of seats in the corners where the bowl tapers inward.
With the Chiefs looking to replace Arrowhead during the next decade, expect World Cup renovations there to be bare minimum. But, renovations to SoFi should proceed as a long-term investment. First, the facility will stage numerous Olympic soccer matches in 2028. Second, the region routinely hosts European club teams during preseason (summmer) tours, and a post-renovation SoFi could bid on those games. Third, CONCACAF brings the Gold Cup to LA every few years. In short, renovating SoFi for the World Cup should not be viewed as a one-off investment.
BMO field to me is unique because of that soccer feel. Too bad there is lot enough seating. Also, BBVA stadium in real life is so beautiful. You just have to see it for yourself if you ever want to take a trip to Monterrey Nuevo León

@@KanyeTheGayFish69 Soccer capital of the US according to who? Oh ya, Sporting KC. About as credible as your local bar with "the coldest beer in town." Fact is that Arrowhead stadium is probably somewhere in the middle of the pack of NFL stadiums in the US, and with KC being something along the lines of a 3rd tier city to visit. In ideal scenario one would think the US would want a combination of the best stadiums/higher tiered cities (NY, LA, BOS, CHI, MIA, SF, AZ, ATL, PHI, SEA, HOU, DAL) to host.
