Steve you're really blessing us this Christmas. Thanks a million . My guilty pleasure is to lay in the tub with a beer and watch your videos . Keep up the good work
Fairy liquid is your friend when rethreading strain reliefs. Even if the cable is very snug it will slip through beautifully with the tiniest drop of liquid on the cable.
I own one and it's always scary to see usb wires stuck inside the unit meaning if you break the wire or the conector gets crushed or sonething, it's a pain to fix, you did a super good job on this! Btw the white flashing light indicated that the wheel is on but it failed to calibrate, the wheel should rotate by itself and center out after once plugged in, this is because you didn't have the power adapter plugged in, maybe you didn't even have the power adapter with you since it's not yours, the power is for the motors you saw inside that provide force feedback, happy christmas steve!
I usually heat the strain relief part up and then use an appropriate drill bit at as low speed to open up the hole. One tip is not to just pull the wire out of the moulded strain relief part, but twist it so it comes away better.
I recently bought myself a £26 IGBT arc and tig capable welder off ebay, I promised my daughter I would build her in the new year a frame utilising an old Mini Sport car seat and some 2x2 square tube as she has quite an exotic set of steering wheels and pedals for her PS2.
Nice repair of such small gauge wires. WHile I do have such size wires, buying a replacement is such a convenient way to repair such things. Eyes are not as good as they used to be. But I do have a digital microscope pretty much, or even the same, as your. Thumbs Up!
You could have upgraded it to a detachable cable by placing a usb-c connector where the old cable was going in. You've shown that you have those connectors already.
A handy lubricant for 'helping' wires through tight grommets is a dab of washing-up liquid. Liquid soap works too. Just remember - a little goes a long way..
wow - I would have spent 2 minutes and just snipped out the bad bit and soldered it back together with black heatshrink, or if the cable ended up too short, just snipped back to the damage and soldered a new one there. Heatshrink is invisible to most 12-year-olds using this steering wheel, and will last another 20+ years - then charged the kid $20 for my effort.
Removing the jacket was probably not the best idea. Find a thinner cable, or use a drill to make the hole bigger on the strain relief or you could use some soap to help it get on the cable. And once it's on, make a knot on the inside part so a yank won't pull the cable out of the strain relief.
another option might be to use the strain relief hole to fit a USB port then just use a bog standard cable.....easier to replace if any further damage occurs
I would just use a drill to make that whole a bit wider to fit the new cable. I did this in the past for a few controllers that had a wire broken near the controller.
Funny i was repair exactly same problem on this exactly same stearing whell one week before. The cable is long enough so I shortened it and used only the universal USB A connector.
I can't believe you don't have a 3D printer to make little parts like the strain relief on the cable. You'd have a whole host of other content for RUclips too!
You should bore out the hole in the strain reliefe so your usb cable fit. (shockingly they are all aproximatley the same size, "some crazy talk about being a standard" so it would fit and could be glued properly) "just incase what i said was hard to follow, the only reason the new usb cable didnt fit is because the old usb cable casing was still in there"
One more satisfying video!!!! But I have a question ❓❓❓ " Why don't you use an electric screwdriver " ❓❓❓ I wish to you Merry Christmas and a more happy New Year!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I know you wanted a quick easy fix, but with all the USB ports lying around, maybe would have been better to solder conector to connector? that way you can just change the cable when someone chews through it :/
I miss my old steering wheel it had an upside down T shaped base so you could hook it under your legs as you sit in your armchair,it was great just for that reason,oh it worked fantastic aswell 😃just had a google and it was called an interact v3
Steve, at first, thank you for your awesome content! As a viewer from I would kindly to ask you to turn this new RUclips ai feature off which translates the audio into german. Please english is a world language. Switching the audio track back and forth is so annoying.
Thank you Steve for the entertainment this year.
Have a good Christmas, more please next year.
On the third day of Fixmas, Steven fixed for thee, a broken plastic thing for steeeeeer-ing.
Looking good Steve!!! Merry Christmas to you and the family🎄🎅
loving the cameraderie between you two folks. Happy Christmas to both of ya!

Every Canadian reading this: 🧐
Top tip: a quick lick of the sheath (matron) often helps cables slide through reused strain reliefs.
I told this to my wife but she still said No.
Inserting Sid James laugh here..... Hurhaha!!!!
@@TallonPrey She said Yes to me.
Yet another video? This has been a great week.
Love the nod to MMV !!
I have done strain relief like this in the past. I just cut one side then opened it like a clam shell. Then glued it back on.
This is the way.

You are funnier than ever….what a hero.
That ending song! 😂😂😂
Happy holidays Steve!

Merry Christmas to Steve&Dave and thanks for all the videos.
what a perfideous pup! superb fix!
😁 thanks TSL!

Brazil mentioned! Yaaay
Happy Christmas Steve, enjoyed watching your pain and triumphs over this year!
I really like these post-repair clips.
Pup is too cute to be angry with.
Yep, it sure is an adorable little thing!

Just run a drill bit thru the strain relief and a touch of super glue to secure it to the new cable. Works a treat
You could have upgraded it to a detachable cable by placing a usb-c connector where the old cable was going in. You've shown that you have those connectors already.
Good plan.
Hey! Thank you very much for this short episodes at this time of the year! The best for you and the channel! 😊
Great fix Steve well done nice job, have a great Christmas to you and all your family 😊
That was fun to watch. It made me think, could I take my old USB A or MIcro USB devices and just cut the cord and solder in a USB C replacement?
A couple of dabs of Superglue inside the heat-shrink would help to secure the new cable more.
Made it in the first 5k! A first for everything. Happy holidays!
Great week!.I miss your Saturday uploads.
Happy Christmas you crazy diamond.
A handy lubricant for 'helping' wires through tight grommets is a dab of washing-up liquid. Liquid soap works too. Just remember - a little goes a long way..
I tried to take apart a force feedback wheel once and it sucked, nice work!
I believe you, since this is feedback and it feels forced.
@@hugegamer5988 Lol.. that was terrible. I like it! :D
Merry Christmas sir! thanks for the awesome vids
The Christmas miracle continues ! 3 videos in a row and no rap 😂. Merry crimbo to you and all your family Ste , thanks for all the great videos 👍🏻
Nice test drive from Anthony - driving in a straight line lol
GREAT WORK.. Those are JST 2.o connectors btw

Kept this one in reserve for a while, look at those subscriber figures in the background 😮
Love the chewy MCchewface
Have a great Christmas and New Years Steve and I am looking forward to more excellent content in 2025. All the best.
Good video. I love Chewy.

Oh! Thats a nice fix!
I literally have this same steering wheel and the cable needs changing. Will come back to the video when I finally get around to fixing the cable.
another option might be to use the strain relief hole to fit a USB port then just use a bog standard cable.....easier to replace if any further damage occurs
good job steve ! ... maybe you could have drilled the strain relief hole a tad bigger ? ... happy chrimbo .
You should have borrowed Vince's Dremel to enlarge the hole in the strain relief
I would just use a drill to make that whole a bit wider to fit the new cable. I did this in the past for a few controllers that had a wire broken near the controller.
I don't know why but your videos are coming to me by default with an AI dubbing in Portuguese, but great video steve like always
Such a cute dog. ♥
Sorry to say it's better without the rap 🤣 Thanks for the video
I would use a good water based lubricant (ky) to aid slipping cable through strain relief
Funny i was repair exactly same problem on this exactly same stearing whell one week before. The cable is long enough so I shortened it and used only the universal USB A connector.
love the tune

Unreleased previously recorded content? Awesome! I can tell by the melted plastic counter. :P
FYI: WD40 for sliding the cable through the restraint works great.
Hes in the dog house now after that 😂Have a great Christmas 🎅🏼
Look how young Dave looks. Must have filmed this a while ago
Nice T-Shirt 😀

The outro on rhis was just bad manners. Or was it even madness. Either way beware the copyrite....haha
What are the chances???
I was just looking at Logitech Racing Wheels yesterday, and now you're repairing one?
🤯
Use a cup of hot water to heat the strain relief grommetty thing.
Great video, Nice fix! The singing is still awful.
So many videos!
What is the difference between Steve and Chuck Norris ? Steve opened all screws !
A little Madness at the end.
One more satisfying video!!!!
But I have a question ❓❓❓
" Why don't you use an electric screwdriver " ❓❓❓
I wish to you Merry Christmas and a more happy New Year!!!

Missed opportunity for Nuthin but a G Thang outro 😭😂
Is this time for another chanel steve 1 for fixits and 1 for revisits?
missed a trick there, could have taken the internal to a new external female usb socket, he'd only need to get a new cable next time :)
Someone looks like they need an electric screwdriver for Christmas!
Nice fix but not solid at all if you pull the cable, it's only held by the heat shrink from outside.
a nice save from da Rubidge bin hello i like this here is a comment thanks
Hey, hope you don't get another copyright strike for the outro 😂
On the first day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
One broken Logitech G920 driving force
Gaming steering wheel
I LITTERALLY JUST BOUGHT ONE OF THESE. 3 HOURS AGO
Another wheely great fix. Bad design - it should have been made with a USB socket on the back and a separate USB cable.
I see what you did there.
Be careful the airbag might go off
You'd think that having a USB A socket in the back of the unit would have been a better idea so people could use their own cables.
It would just get pulled out and we would miss out on all the “strain relief” jokes 🤣
Is that Kevin Smith @ 1:05?
🎵🎶🎵"I've been driving in my car.. listening to Jeremy Clarkson" 🎵🎶🎵
Almost didn't see that Tee Shirt.
Now I wonder if he owns one of yours ?🤔
It would have been great if Anthony would have said "Stupid steering wheel." in his clip.
The force feedback breaks a lot on the logitech wheels
A bit of lube would have helped getting the cord through the grommet
When Chewy chews that again, you'll install a female usb connector on that thing and it won't come back again. :D
Upgrade to USB port?
Next video you'll fix your beard trimmer? 🤣🤣🤣
I miss my old steering wheel it had an upside down T shaped base so you could hook it under your legs as you sit in your armchair,it was great just for that reason,oh it worked fantastic aswell 😃just had a google and it was called an interact v3
Why is your vacuum cleaner next to your telly ? 🤯
Clearly the dog was disgusted with him playing in chase cam.
Has a wheel, but plays in 3rd person view !
