They had a new roof donated to them by local companies and the guy who messed it up ended up facing a slew of charges, some not related to this particular roofing job. Justice was served.
does anyone know how to get ahold of these people! I'm a Roofer and have been Roofing for over 19 year's. I would like to help them if I can. I hate theifts! and people who don't know how to do there job! it gives real roofers a bad name thanks
I was thinking the same thing. I have held licenses in several states including Florida. I'm out of the business now pretty much retired with time on my hands.
I hate scammers that wreck family’s homes. If you get their job contact Lowe’s or Home Depot. They have community building money for these kind of projects. It’s a write off for them and they usually will supply volunteers to help.
Alvin Ritter you’re not wrong lol. My dad knows people and they did it for $800. Plus, they have over 10 years of experience. 😂 but we had to buy the materials. Still was cheap!
+tripp. The length of service matters too. If a roofing company has been in business for 30 years and is family-owned and run, that will be a good sign. They tend to quote high so as not to subject customers to sticker shock.
@@theperfectionofbeauty1443 Idiots that don't do their research on a company before hiring them. This happens all the time. I just had a new roof and they were not in any hurry for their money since I have lived here a long time. I got a great company that did mine.
Bless her heart I own a roofing company I see this all the time I feel so bad for people Specially homeowners i start cry with them because they never get there money back and no they will never trust anyone one again
I was hired to do a job by an investor, he asked me to give him a great price,I told him if he wanted a great price for his roof replacement I would have to use economy shingles that were a cheaper price and had no warranty, he agreed on the price and job, 2-1/2 yrs later I get a phone call in the early spring and his roof is leaking very badly, the ceilings are damaged and falling down, the shingles never sealed down properly in the warm weather and were defective, the place that sold them to me they have never had any problems out of their material, but insisted they had no warranty,It was a mistake buying them,I had to hire an attorney and also ended up paying the homeowner the money back he paid me,his insurance paid the damages.
Should of asked for references and scouted out his work when spending that kind of coin, that's what I did when I hired a mason and he did a top notch job
I wonder if they have a gofund me acc I'd like to donate to fix their roof they should give up sueing that pos its not worth the time or money it breaks my heart to see this
Damian Martinez " it's not worth the time or money " ?? Did you not hear that the guy had an insurance policy that he'd just gotten the day before? ? They're liable for the repairs, now, they're more than likely out the lawyer monies, but they could find a lawyer cheaper than calling it all a loss and cutting another 20 grand check for repairs
rocket man if they go to court and win their case the POS will most likely not pay either way. The home owners might never see a dime. It's better if a GoFundMe is created to help them.
$11,000 seems a little high to me for a low-pitch, one-story roof, even if re-sheathing. If the soffits, facing boards and gutter were supposed to be included, that brings the $11,000 to "not enough". But unless that house has a LOT More roof that wasn't shown, the $20,00 to have it redone properly seems exorbitant.
Another scam people need to avoid. Those people who do rooftop coatings. They are an absolute rip-off and do nothing more than temporarily brighten up the color of your roof. Had a neighbor a few years ago who towed a little trailer with a sprayer attached. For 1,000 he would go on your roof and spray a coating of tar. He claimed it would penetrate the shingles and make them like new 😂😂😂. He said it would seal any leaks and give you at least another 10 years of life in your roof. My poor neighbor fell for his scam. Watching the guy work, he diluted the tar to almost water like. He sprayed a very thin coat that was running down the shingles. It was nothing more than a cheap krylon paint job 😂. The guy was even featured on scam alerts with the local news. He just suddenly packed up and moved out one weekend. Within six months, the pretty color faded away.
Guys please note that any legitimate contractor will never ask you for more than 10% up front they may ask for an In progress payment and a final. Never never give full or half of money upfront
I've been a roofer for over 18 years! And this is the worst job I've ever seen! But it's not about being licensed and insured! It's about hiring a roofer that has true respect in is work! And references! Good ones and bad! So the the customers can make their mind up. Just cuz they have a license and a fancy truck! Don't make them real roofers! Plus they ain't doing the work! 90 percent of fake roofers maybe have about a month of real roofing experience! Ask real questions! I hate fake roofers! And illegal one's to boot! I feel sorry for those people!
We got swindled by a company based out of fort Wayne. Luckily my husband made them fix the mistakes and refused to pay for stuff they claimed was done but wasn't. Was a bad experience but at least it wasn't a nightmare like this story.
That's real sad poor lady.... If i could help I'll throw my labor down for free for this woman.... I've never seen an unsatisfied customer with my work I don't understand how people can do that s***'s people
I have over 10 years of roofing experience. I'll do your roof for free. All you have to do is buy the materials and we'll go do your roof for free. I'm from Tucson Arizona

Yeah but the most time the homeowners are the problem cuz I do roofing too and when they call you and you say the price they say it's to high so they Don want to pay so then call this guy's charge less but the work is bad that happens to me all the time like 3 months ago a girl call me to fix the roof and she say no to high but it's too much and sometimes we have to replace the plywood my full prices to fix 10feet was 800 and she say you want 150 to do it and wtf really I'm say no she say 200 and I say you know what I'm going back to my work cuz you waste my time
to play the devils advocate... 11k for that roof??? apparently the guy took a job way out of his comfort level and bid the thing under about 6k. from the looks of it it needs facias and siding repairs too. and from the looks of it, again, i would guess the guy got overwhelmed and just left. This is why I'm afraid to hire a young white guy. Unlike illegal immigrants, when the work gets rough the white man could get by working at gas station making half if not less. OK OK now i know there are some badass white workers out there too so don't get crying bout it if you're one of them but I'm just saying, its happen to me too many times thats all.

As awful this is, the responsibility is with us the homeowners to do our checks etc, never pay up front or all of the money until the job is finished as that should sound alarm bells...
As a 35 year roofer, it is still hard to believe the scab roofers out there. Consumers need to do thier home work when it comes to any constitution work. Check up on the company you plan to go with. A little home work will save you in the long run.
The problem is not that the homeowner messed up but should have done some research on how things are done . The problem these contractors only goal is to lie and steal your money so it's hard not to fall prey to them plus they prey on the weak . It's a shame this happens and we should have these type of bozos beat up.
I view this situation as a prime opportunity to become known as an honest and good roofer. Come in and do the work for free, but do it right. Your name and company will be featured on the news. Consumers, quit shopping for the lowest price, start shopping for the best value.
People like this are a disgrace to us who work hard to deliver the job.

Get 3+ estimates and hire the one that makes you squinch when you see the price.

First of all I would ask friends or neighbors if they know any good roofers that has done a job for them.
Roofing needs to be regulated. To many scammers and that Is the most important part of your home

References is really what you need here. Ppl you have done work for to vouch for you. Pictures hlp aswell
If he is licensed, try the licensing agency. Hopefully, they will do better in your state than they do in Maryland.
