The actual Velociraptor dinosaur is nothing like what they portray in this movie. The real Velociraptor is much, much smaller than this, like the size of a dog, and they speculate now that they had feathers. I dont remember what it was exactly, but they say the Raptors in this movie is closer to a whole different species of dinosaur.

a "velociraptor" is actually how that fat kid called them: "that don't sound scary, it's just like a 6 ft tall turkey"... laughs... except they're the actual same size as a turkey, and thus not 6 ft tall, so way smaller (like 2-3 ft tall, or whatever the size/height of turkeys, lol)
actually, the movie's portrayal of raptors, is actually of the: deinonychus (greek: "terrible claw", deinos = terrible, onukhus = claw), which was likely ~ 4-6 ft tall (wikipedia just gives its length, but not its height, argh)
now, due to the popularity of the books and the movies, 'raptor' have been used (wrongly) with the naming of future discovered dinosaurs:
"utah raptor" (utah, US): ~ 6 ft tall (human height)
"mega raptor" (south america): ~ 8-10 ft tall
though, the t-rex is still bigger/taller/longer than even the mega raptor: ~ 12 ft at its hips (stupid wikipedia never giving the height of these dinosaurs, and why give the height at the hips, give the height of the entire t-rex ARGH, only giving their lengths for the most part, argh)
(there's actually bigger/mean'er dinosaurs than the t-rex, but it is definitely up there)

As a 25 year old, she was poorly cast as a romantic interest for guys twice her age. She is a solid actress and all, but placing her opposite guys old enough to be her father seemed more creepy than romantic.
I blame Spielberg. He had a long history of being creepy, dating FAR below his age group, and hiring young actresses he wanted to sleep with. It affected his casting choices on multiple films.

How the t-rex got into the visitor center: Earlier in the movie, when they're arriving/also when they're getting in the cars to go on the tour, you can see that an entire side of the building is open, presumably for putting in a giantass window like the other side. So she just stomped right into the lobby.

Honestly? The experience of seeing this in the movie theaters in 1993 (Yes, 1993!!!) and seeing the dinosaurs on screen for the first time was absolutely incredible. The sequels are hit and miss (I like 3 and Jurassic World, but only because 3 actually added to the story better than 2, and World was a quality reboot) but they prove that the first one captured everyone's imaginations and have not yet let go. Enjoy the rest of them!

What they’re doing is crazy, but they’re trying to do the same thing right now in real life. They’re trying to impregnate an elephant with a Mammoth embryo and a lion/tiger with a smilidon (better known as the sabertoothed tiger) embryo. I think the Mammoth project is being funded at Harvard if I’m not mistaken. This series is what fueled me to become a paleontologist, I really hope you enjoy it Major!

Feeding a cow to the velociraptors: Actually, a lot of predator species won't eat if you give them carved meat, they only eat what they kill. Some species can be fooled with mechanical contraptions to make the food move like it's still alive before they eat it, but some species just need live food.
Next time you're in a zoo, go and visit the medium-sized cat displays at feeding time, like lynxes and stuff. The food gets put on a thingy and whizzed through the air above them so they can jump and catch it like they would in the wild.

I saw EH when i was 9. First time seeing space horror.
It's still one of my favorite films. Even as i was being terrified, i liked it. I found out as an adult that it was originally intended as a Warhammer prequel adaptation, but couldn't get the rights. Made it so much more badass.
Still can't look at Sam the same way anymore, though. 🤣🤣🤣

I strongly recommend reading the book. The movie toned down the gore and took out some of the freakiest scenes. As a matter of fact, the subsequent Jurassic park films used some of the scenes from the first book that weren't included in this movie.

One of the things that stood out for me in the books: The scientists kept saying that there was no way that the dinosaurs were breeding because they had cameras all over the place and they would count the numbers of dinosaurs all the time and the numbers matched. Until they realized that once the computer counted the dinosaurs and came up with the numbers they knew they had, the computer program would stop counting. Once they took that filter off, they had many more than expected.

It wasn't until the end credits that I realized I hardly touched my popcorn and drink. Lol. One of my fondest memories from my childhood.

Sam Neill (Alan Grant) was 46 years old in this movie. Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) was 26. They were portrayed as working together and also more romantically involved. Laura Dern complained about this point, saying he was too old to be believed to be her boyfriend. But it was thought that she looked older than 26 and he looked younger than 46.
In the movie Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm) was flirting with Ellie. In real life she started dating him when they met on the set for this movie. At the time Jeff was 41.

    • @piperjaycie
      @piperjaycie 2 месяца назад

She didn’t complain about it. A magazine article pointed out the age difference and they were both like “seriously”. She said she thought their relationship was “completely appropriate”. Ellie in the movie was 27 and Alan was 35. Even in the books them being 24 and 40 wasn’t a big deal and they were romantically involved at the time of Jurassic Park. It’s in the second book that they were seeing each other but we just didn’t see it in the book. Although you can tell they are very close. After the age gap was pointed out Laura Dern apparently just said “oh yeah we are not the same age” because she probably never thought about it being an issue until the world decided to cancel everyone with more than a 1 year age gap because they were being ridiculous.
