It's a pity since it shows how shallow and spectacle obsessed the audience has become, or always was idk. T2 is a special effect galore, and one of the best examples of proper use of CGI in practical effect heavy film, but plot/story/sequel wise - it's rubbish. It's a well executed cash grab. Ultimate triumph of form over substance, marketable quotes and recycled ideas that completely disregard everything established in this magnificently written, atmospheric gem of sci fi action/horror. T2 is the most overrated film of the century.
@@jovanjorgovan23 I would argue that that title easily goes to Forest Gump (talk about rubbish) but I can understand why you would say what you did. While I think T2 is an outstanding piece of action cinema for many reasons, it's best to not think about the story very much. When you start thinking about all the things skynet obviously could've done, it sends you down a rabbit hole of "Well that was dumb actually". 😂
Terminator 2 is a must watch. T2: Judgement Day is a phenomenal sequel. You’ll dig it . Take care Homie ✌🏼

a classic, by all accounts. It features two actors who have the honor of being among the few killed by the big three - terminator, predator, alien. These are Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton. 😊
This movie changed literally everything in the business. It's a massive masterpiece in terms of how it was done.
My favourite part, and a sad fact, is when Kyle said that he always wondered what Sarah was thinking at that moment in the picture. And she was thinking in Kyle during that tape record. Lovers across time....
This for sure hit me when the movie was over. I wonder did he ever tell him that he's his father

The line of dialogue "In the few short hours we had together, we loved a lifetime's worth" is meant to denote that the whole of John, Kyle and Sarah's story as a family began and ended within the time frame.
Major, I dont know if you'll see this or not, but i need to thank you. Ive been in a really dark place, with my depression and love life issues, extremely dark and i put on your lord of the rings videos to get me out of my head and stay happy, cause it could have gotten really bad for me. So i just want to say thank you, from one Ohio man to another. Literally a life saver. God bless you and your family.
I love the horror elements in this one. And the music man, it's top notch for 80s Especially when Reese finds Sarah in the PD.

One of my favorite scenes is where the terminator pauses to recalculate something. In this flick I think getting into the stick shift semi is where he does it, but he also has a similar moment in the sequel which I don’t want to spoil.

FUN FACT: James Cameron always said that Halloween and Michael Myers was one of his influences for Terminator. It was always supposed to be his version of Michael Myers with a Sci-fi twist.
I saw The Terminator for the first time around 1989, on cable TV. They had edited the more graphic stuff out of it, but I was 9, so I didn't really care. I had to lay it on really thick to get my dad to take me to see Terminator 2 at the theater, though. It was the first R-rated movie I ever saw on the big screen. Totally worth it, though. Not to twist your arm, but T2 is hands-down the best movie in the franchise.
Not twisting fam I'm definitely going to watch it. I pretty much keep getting watch 2 and 3 the others are not as good. But I like how you finesse pops to take you to watch the 2nd one
If you liked this just wait for the crazy quality upgrade in the sequel.
Terminator 2 is considered by many to be the best sequel of all time.
Only The Empire Strikes Back and Star Trek: Wrath of Khan compare to it.

Almost in the first scene with the three guys, the blue haired is Bill Paxton, a very well known actor who appeared in Titanic, Aliens or Twister, among another ones.
Happy to see you go for the classics ! PLEASE watch the Terminator 2 DIRECTORS CUT, not the "regular". DC version has scenes the other one is missing and are kinds important to the story and continuity with this Terminator 1. Either way, cant wait to see the reaction :D

@@mokane86 I would say the whole "learning" part is skipped due to the chip scene, making "the smile" and all the "sayings" make sense. Original kindda skipped over it. Just my 5 cents, the DC version is 5 mins longer afaik, no biggie :)
@@maslad the ending of that version of the movie is not good so I would recommend the theactrical version even if a few scenes are missing.
When Kyle was wondering what Sarah was thinking the moment the famous photo was taken, indeed she was grieving his death. I've always really liked T1. Very unfortunate Reese was killed off

You need to check out Stephen King's Children of the Corn, ASAP. It was released that same year. You'll know why I suggested it pretty early on in the film 😉

Those flashlights are really just a steel pipe with four of those chonky “D” size batteries in it. They hold flashlights overhand like that so they can swing it like a club and brain somebody in one motion, without having to change their grip.
Also, I wasn’t alive when this came out in theaters but, there was an awesome drive in theater near me when I was a kid that played double features. They did True Lies followed by T2 even though it had been out for a few years. My dad took me and my siblings and was definitely one of my favorite theater experiences ever.
We still have two Drive in theaters around my area. It's still a dope experience to go even though they can't play newer movies as much bc of the prices
@@MajorReacts yea it can be pricey and we were poor so, it was a rare treat. There’s some movies definitely worth watching in a theater experience even if it’s one seen before it older.
I was 6 years old when I saw this movie. This was one of Arnie's first Movie roles. While there are reports of Arnie's agency wanting him to take only heroic roles, the general public had no solid opinions on his character, just that he was a large powerful figure. The crucial thing this role did is make everyone fall in love with his accent, once thought to be a trait that would ruin his career.

The Terminator is one of James Cameron’s best movies of all time, Terminator 2: Judgement Day is a must watch next, it’s considered one of the best sequels of all time, and I also would at some point highly recommend Christopher Nolan’s new movie: Oppenheimer, and some TV shows, such as: The Sopranos and Mr. Robot
We had to wait 7 years for the storm to arrive. You can watch it anytime. I envy you.

I was 10 when this came out. I had to wait till it hit HBO and my neighbors recorded it on VHS.
Those were days right there 🤣
And the very first time that I saw this movie was when I was 8 years old when it came out on VHS and Home Video. And I was a little boy at the time when I was watching this movie with my Mom and Dad. And the I thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was the good guy at first. And when I realized when he was playing the bad guy I was so scared and so surprised that he even played the bad guy in this movie. And when Reese has shot the Terminator and when the Terminator just got right back up I was really surprised and so shocked and it really blew my mind to.

the hype of everything is all about the next one. arguably one of the best movies of all time. most of the effects still hold up relatively well considering the movie was out in 91

What Sarah meant in saying she and Kyle loved a lifetime's worth is that they fell in love during a high intensity, life or death situation, so, in the short time they had, it was constantly about devotion, self sacrifice, trust, and, ultimately, being willing to die for each other. Kyle died trying to protect her and did so willingly; remember that he volunteered to go back in time alone and without any weapons to try to save her from the terminator. Sarah is forever changed because of him and what he told her and his tragic death. He is the father of her child and the new purpose of her life is to protect and teach their child. For some reason, women seem to understand what Sarah meant about their love, but men look at the timeframe only and scoff.
I was 3 when this came out.. so I didn't see it in theaters.. but I did see it in 86 at 5yo... Loved it!! Yes.. At 5.. the 80's were a different time! lol

Terminator 1 and 2 are classic timeline science fiction. Terminator 3 is worth watching. After that they drift.
Yo Major as many have already said, T2 is the ultimate sequel. For context it was released in 1991, SEVEN years after T1! How many franchises do you know that can take THAT amount of time between installments and STILL be better than the original?? T2’s special effects are drastically upgraded, so get ready, bro!
The 4th movie is very left field. It stars Christian Bale as John Connor from the future (when the machines have taken over). It also stars Sam Worthington who is the lead actor in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise.
The 5th one gets weird with the timeline and the 6th movie ignores 3-5 and is supposed to be a sequel T2. So yeah, the studio milks it after T2

I did not see it in the cinema, I'm not that old. I saw it on video a year or so later with my brother. But it wasn't rated R in my country, it was M.

You definitely need to watch "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" next. The best sequel in the Terminator movie series. And one of my all-time favorite movie sequels.

One thing about this movie is that Skynet in labeled as an AI version of the Nazi, but in the sequel where we get a bit insight on why Skynet nuke the whole world, it make you wonder if Skynet did what it did in self defense.
If you watch T2, you should watch the Extended version, the one that leaves no room for any other sequel !
I got another time travel movie you might want to react to its one of my favorites, The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.

I have yet to see anyone do a reaction to Eraser (1996), which is another Schwarzenegger action flick, also starring Vanessa Williams. Once in awhile Netflix has it. If you ever get a chance, definitely consider a reaction to that one. PeAcE

I think you should watch ALL the Terminator movies. This one and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. They definitely did NOT make any more movies after T:2!

@@MajorReacts There's this Internet rumor that T2 is better. I'd say that T2 is excellent, but, personally, I like T1 a little better. T3 is also a very decent movie, but I'm not sure beyond that point.

OJ Simpson was originally considered to be cast as The Terminator, but nobody working on the film thought he would be a believable enough killer.

OG here. 63 years old, saw this when i was 24 and was blown away by the movie. Arrnuuld was the perfect dude playing a stiff robotic part. Please react to the first 3 movies. T2 is way better than the first movie, but the 3rd movie is cool as well as Arnold comes back, and you learn the lore of how skynet was started...

@MajorReacts The first movie was rated R, so it did OK in the theaters. 8 years later, a very anticipated (pg-13) T2 came out, and it was a blockbuster. PG movies have a much wider audience, so it could take in much higher numbers of tickets sales. Arnold had already become a huge box office draw by the time T2 came out.

Yes, Cameron likes to re-use his actors. One of the 2 cops that said "Like shit, boss" (Lance Henriksen) was in Aliens as the android Bishop, Kyle Reese was also in Aliens as Corporal Hicks and the spike-haired punk, who you recognized from Titanic was also in Aliens as Private Hudson.
(Btw, the badass Vasquez from Aliens, also from Titanic as a mother of children, will be in Terminator 2).
(That poor short cop who Arnie bashed his head against his own car makes a one-scene appearance on Terminator 2 as well.)

You're absolutely going to want to watch T2, it's considered by some to be the best movie. The 3rd movie has important story elements and shows how things happened that are only mentioned in the previous movies. The 4th movie is divisive, critics hate it but audiences liked it . Terminator 5 is the worst and the 6th is on par with the third movie. I would recommend watching 2, if you love it watch 3 and then take a break. 4 & 6 don't need to be seen back to back with the first 3, they're sort of stand alone so long as you already know the basic story.

I wasn't old enough to watch T1 at the cinema but I definitely watched T2 at one. I would have seen T1 on VHS, rented from my local video store. What you need to realise is that Arnie wasn't as big back then, he was as fresh to us as any new actor is to anyone these days. This is probably my favourite out of all of them, but T2 is also very good and much more progressive.
Going back to your phone book comment, I don't know if it was the same in the US, but in the UK, the phone book would show your address and phone number unless you asked to go Private .... but you had to specifically request it. We all had phone books for our local area in our homes, along with a Trade Book as well which came in handy.
Okay I didn't know that I thought he was known from weight lifting so he was popular. But the phonebook thing is crazy with the address I don't remember that part 🤔
@MajorReacts I don't follow weight lifting, so maybe. I don't remember hearing about him in the UK, but I was just near my mid-teens when T1 first came out.
