What are some yard sale tips? Mine is 'ask!' - ask if they have video games. They're in a yard sale mood to sell stuff, if they have video games, they'll probably sell you some.
One I've been trying out this season is the rebound ask. Sometimes I'll get someone who says they still play their *insert system*, so I'll follow up with "are you looking to get rid of any of the games you don't play much?" No luck yet, *but* the season is just starting, so hopefully it'll work somewhere down the line.
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games My tip would be to find a problem with the game such as a sticker that won't come off or a cracked case, and use that as an argument to take the price down. Great video as always!
I was at a sale yesterday that had two Pokemon DS games. I asked if they had any more games and the guy went inside and came out with Mega Man 2 and a couple 360 games. Then his wife said there was more and went inside and came out with a box of about 25 N64 and GB games, including Dragon Warrior III GBC and Snowboard Kids 2. I left my number for them to call if they find any more! My tip, besides "ASK", is "LOOK". Plenty of times I have asked if they have any games and they say "No", only for me to turn around and find some. Flip open boxes, look in plastic bags, unzip camera cases. Just a couple days ago, the LAST sale of the day, I opened a drawstring plastic bag to find a Genesis Nomad and a stack of games! I have found lots of Game Boys and games in plain zip cases. Most of the time retro systems will be in old cardboard boxes on the ground, especially if they think it's not worth much. There won't be a big flashing arrow that says "Video Games".
its the only way I find games now 95% of the time due to all the crazy overly early early birds. but even asking doesnt work as well as it used to as many others are doing it now.
This made my stomach hurt, I can't believe how lucky you got with those 3 system boxes. Anyone who knows their stuff will realize how much profit you just made, but personally I'd never sell half of that stuff. Extremely jealous. Crazy finds.
Probably impromptu staged. If I were the seller and a buyer offered me a fair price in exchange for pretending I was selling it to him for cheap on camera, I would jump at it any day. If that's not what happened, then that seller is simply foolish. Which is possible as well.
pearlmax Or he doesn't devote his life to knowing video game stuff. Even as a buyer, I've thrown some pretty ridiculous quotes out that people will accept. Come home, look up prices, and find out that I got a great deal. Also, you would be surprised at the amount of people who are just trying to clean clutter out of their homes and are almost willing to pay you to get rid of some stuff.
Sure looks like he devotes his life to Nintendo stuff from that collection he's got. Who buys all the good games for the NES, SNES and N64 and then doesn't know anything about them and wants to get rid of them? Maybe this guy, I don't know, I really don't care.
But that was decades ago. Sure, back then he would have been really into it, and probably would have known that he could get pretty good prices for his stuff. Now he probably hasn't touched the stuff in over a decade, doesn't know the market that exists for these things, and didn't do any price checking. He has a job and a family and a million other things going on in his life, and by the amount of things that he's selling, it looks like he just wants to downsize. It's completely understandable why he wants to get rid of them and why he doesn't know the value that they still hold.
It reminded me of skyrim when my brother dropped about 70 items in a shop and the guy picked them all up and said one mans junk is another mans treasure and we laughed a bit. :[)
awesome find. last week, I found a NeoGeo CD console with power cord and 2 controllers at a Goodwill Outlet store. Since they charge by weight, It only cost me like $3 bucks total. Never in my life did I expect to find anything NeoGeo related in an Outlet bin, crazy.
Dude, you scored. I need to do some yard sales down there!! I did community yard sales for 5 hours today and came home with a couple of ps2 games haha. Dry Dry Dry.
Nice! I found some cool stuff this week at the flea market, too! Genesis model 2 an 32x combo with all cords and two controllers(one sixbutton) for $20. I also got zombies ate my neighbors for snes for $8 and KI gold for n64 for 7. The flea market gods must be smiling down on us.
I havent, either! Im visiting my hometown for the summer, and its small, meaning little competition! Ive picked up some great stuff on my trips. Mega man 1 for 8$, cdi with Zelda: Wand of Gamelon for $20, and much more. Im always excited for these visits haha.
I got 2 Genesis model 2s, a 32x and a Shea cd model 2 at the Everett swap meet in 2004ish for $20. All that was missing was the cord for the 32x but I found one of those at value village for 99¢.
hey Riggs that's not just a model 1 Genesis, that's the High Definition Graphics one which is the launch model. Its supposed to have the best sound chip in it. Just remember to get that great sound you need to use rca cables out the headphone jack to get stereo sound.
true, but not all model 1 are equal. some the later model 1's are basically model 2 in model 1 shells. Apparently Sega did alot of revisions with them.
I'm happy for you that you scored some nice finds, but at the same time a little bothered by the fact you did so before the sale officially opened. Gah! People like you are the bane of my existence! No hard feelings though, nice scores.
tmpardi77 "People like you", whats that supposed to mean. I bet if u had the opportunity to be there early, you wouldnt hesitate to do the same thing. Heck, I wouldnt.
Ricky T. What's that supposed to mean? Well I think I explained that in my first sentence. Reading comprehension! But no I wouldn't do the same if I were in his position, simply because its something I am against and I have a conscience.
ok then, well I'm glad you think that way. If me and you were in the same swap meet at that time, then I would be glad u waited it out. I would gladly take and add all those games to my collection. Just don't be disappointed because u missed out on the games by having a golden conscience.
tmpardi77 lol. You have a conscience? So being able to pick up video games by being there early is now morally wrong? You act like someone is taking your job or denying you a basic human right.
Hell yeah! I heard me a snippet of Alice In Chains playing in the background around 4:00! Haha Really helping add some early to mid 90s nostalgia while looking at some retro games!
That was awesome! I'm from Yakima, the Kaybee Toy store that used to be in the Yakima Mall is where I bought my first game with my own money that I earned. Beauty and the Beast for Intellivision :) I used to go there and then downstairs to the arcade. Maybe grab an Orange Julius on the way out. I miss 1980's Yakima!
why do i love riggs little hamster cheeks so much lol you cheer me up pal. iv just taken my kids home for the school week and i was stressing when i got back and this vid made me really chill. thanks bro i hate missing my kids, i love your content riggs, well done !
Awesome finds 👍🏽. Nothing like that around me; local flea market has $20 for broken consoles and $50 for working console, but you have to search through the hundred boxes of tangled wires in the store to piece together all the necessary parts. I did that today, no working Genesis consoles after testing 12 of them.
awesome score Riggs. seeing this makes me want to go to yard sales. hope you get time to enjoy those snes games. guy had great taste in games when he was younger and took great care of them.
dude i used to live in yakima and i could never find much video games at my home town! i remember that i had to go down town to rons silver and gold pawn shop to always look for some Pokemon games for GBC or GBA. i gotta step by sometime cause thanks to you i just discovered this!
Hyperkin actually makes replacement NES cart lids now if you ever see one like that. As long as it runs, just hit the top shell with a bit of retrobrite (or both the shell and the lid with some dye), and you're good to go.
I'm no Nintendo fan, but that is an insane haul. You basically got the most wanted games for each system for a total steal. Dude could have easily asked for twice that amount.
Thank you for Making this I was unfortunate to able to attend this year's biggest yards sale didnt expect yakima to have some good find O.o, you Made the palm springs of Washington look interesting :p
At an event I went to one time, this church just had a bunch of video game consoles and games, and they had a bin of snes games, and in it was a copy of Mega Man X2, I was so tempted to make an offer.
I gotta leave florida, we barley have any deals here scalpers at swap shop would've charged 30+ for that snes/sega & garage sales don't sell hardly anything vg related. Super scope is extremely rare
HYPE WARRIOR!! That's what I was saying the whole time. I never find these so called RUclips deals. Bad example would be finding Little Sampson at some 90 year old lady's flea market table (just that game under clothes that they somehow randomly decided to move) and she would be like "ummmmm let's go ¢0.02"
Damn!!! What an awesome come up! So many consoles and bundles for a great price, especially the Genesis for $5 plus a free snes like damn I need that kinda luck!
You did pretty awesome man! 5 bucks for the first box that's crazy. Hope all the systems working perfectly for you, no issues. I was tempted to buy a PS3 the other week for £20 with games and an Xbox 360 for £30 but without testing them I didn't want to take the risk. Like can you imagine turning the console on and you get that ring of death for example, I would be pissed off. Dude awesome video, I've subscribed to channel. 👍🏼
i love going to garage sales. i have so many great deals on video games and other stuff. im big into pro wrestling and have found so many great wrestling items at garage sales for so cheap. and you meet alot of really cool people
SNES games stopped including the dust sleeves in 1994. Also, that's a Super Scope wireless receiver (not for a controller). Though there are official first-party wireless 6-buttons Genesis controllers, that one is for one of those crappy AtGames systems. :(
Wow, wish we had garage sales like this is South Africa. Would be extremely lucky to find a gameboy or maybe a few ps2 games which would be really overpriced compared to what they sell for in the US. Awesome!
What are some yard sale tips? Mine is 'ask!' - ask if they have video games. They're in a yard sale mood to sell stuff, if they have video games, they'll probably sell you some.
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games What will you trade me for Neverhood for the PC? It is in Excellent Condition.. 😊

5$ for a genesis and oh, a free snes console. sure i'll take it! lol
"I'm doing you a favor"
Yes. Always trust someone that says that sentence during a negotiation.
The Guardian sleezy salesman vocabulary
totally! 'tis why I use it, sarcastically.
LOL!!! You just got "Rigg'd"
This made my stomach hurt, I can't believe how lucky you got with those 3 system boxes. Anyone who knows their stuff will realize how much profit you just made, but personally I'd never sell half of that stuff. Extremely jealous. Crazy finds.
secret of mana, mysti quest final fantasy 2 and 3 pretty much paid for everything .
Probably impromptu staged. If I were the seller and a buyer offered me a fair price in exchange for pretending I was selling it to him for cheap on camera, I would jump at it any day. If that's not what happened, then that seller is simply foolish. Which is possible as well.

Gotta love yard sales. One man's junk is anothers man's treasure. Did I say that right? lol
Bobby8451 it works either way 😂
i love em
It reminded me of skyrim when my brother dropped about 70 items in a shop and the guy picked them all up and said one mans junk is another mans treasure and we laughed a bit. :[)
herohunter81 no
Bobby8451 *trash not junk but u were close enough
These videos are addicting to watch but they make me so jealous lol
awesome find. last week, I found a NeoGeo CD console with power cord and 2 controllers at a Goodwill Outlet store. Since they charge by weight, It only cost me like $3 bucks total. Never in my life did I expect to find anything NeoGeo related in an Outlet bin, crazy.
I need to go to yard sales like these. I'd love to start a collection. But, there's only one problem. I'm a senior in high school without a job.
TheAbsol you’ll get there in a few years
Wow same
So get a job!!! Lol
"I'm here to wrestle you!" haha, your little girl is so freaking funny
The SNES lot was amazing, so cool that you got Secret of Mana!
Riggs, the SNES device you thought was for a wireless controller is actually the super scope sensor.
Yep! Mine's sitting on top of my CRT right now :D
he really needs to get Battle Clash 1&2 to really enjoy that Super Scope
Yoshis Safari is a great game too
magnus87 I picked up Yoshi's Safari last year. I'd kind of like to get all the Super Scope games.
How did he not know that?
Just when you think there are no more deals, what a sweet haul.
Dude, you scored. I need to do some yard sales down there!!
I did community yard sales for 5 hours today and came home with a couple of ps2 games haha. Dry Dry Dry.
sounds like a shitty city.
haha, no doubt
Seriously thought the girl at 5:30 had a hook for a hand, then realized she was holding sunglasses. I need to get some food or something
It's been YEARS since I've had a score like that. Great job John!
Sweet! I never see 32x system ever.
I havent, either! Im visiting my hometown for the summer, and its small, meaning little competition! Ive picked up some great stuff on my trips. Mega man 1 for 8$, cdi with Zelda: Wand of Gamelon for $20, and much more. Im always excited for these visits haha.

Frank West no 1 cares what you say you found put a video up
Jarrett Ball you’re just jealous

true, but not all model 1 are equal. some the later model 1's are basically model 2 in model 1 shells. Apparently Sega did alot of revisions with them.
DixieBoy380 you are correct. I hooked up a cable from the headphone jack to my TV on my model. Gotta love Sega.
jealous
Awesome man, thanks for recording your pick ups! Good finds
Very nice haul. As I'm only about an hour away from this, I'll have to make sure I keep an ear out for it this year.
I'm happy for you that you scored some nice finds, but at the same time a little bothered by the fact you did so before the sale officially opened. Gah! People like you are the bane of my existence! No hard feelings though, nice scores.

Stay classy.

Awesome video John! You got some sweet scores at the yard sale! If anybody deserves to get a haul like that, its you!
That sonics jacket was worth some money
Hell yeah! I heard me a snippet of Alice In Chains playing in the background around 4:00! Haha Really helping add some early to mid 90s nostalgia while looking at some retro games!
Metalpug79 for a comment like that, there are... no excuses.
Andy Aldrich 🤘😎
That was awesome! I'm from Yakima, the Kaybee Toy store that used to be in the Yakima Mall is where I bought my first game with my own money that I earned. im the same iv got a gym but its like a spooky hounted room now hahhaha.
thanks for the reply john!
Nice seeing someone relatively close to me doing these videos. I collect and am over in Spokane. Been a good season thus far! Keep it up bud!
11:30 I had that lightning McQueen alarm clock when I was a little kid. It projected the time up onto the ceiling when it was dark.
after watching this u give me hope to go hit up yard sale tomorrow honestly i wasn't going to but thanks for the motivation
John Riggs is so Seattle that even sound garden plays in back ground at random yardsales
Looks like the biggest yard sale I've ever seen!If I found a PS3 for $50,I'd grab it.Nice stuff there. We need some events like that here in south GA.
omg thats was the mother load, I cant believe the SNES lot, the condition and the selection were awesome, gratz m8
I love sales like these. They can bring a months worth of profit.
First vid of yours I've watched, wow... epic finds!! Feels like back in the early 2000's when you actually saw this stuff cheap at yard sales.
Gotta love hearing another Alice in Chains fan... "ROOSTER"!! And what a steal on those two consoles, I still need to find another SNES and Genesis.
Why did I watch that, it just makes me jealous of all the stuff you found wishing it was me finding them all lol.
OMG! This is impossible to find here in Brazil. Only great games on the SNES, N64 and NES. Secret of mana its like an utopia hehehe
awesome score Riggs. seeing this makes me want to go to yard sales. hope you get time to enjoy those snes games. guy had great taste in games when he was younger and took great care of them.
That’s awesome dude! Totally worth the 200 bucks. Secret of Mana FF2/3 alone are worth well over 200 bucks just for the carts!
dude i used to live in yakima and i could never find much video games at my home town! i remember that i had to go down town to rons silver and gold pawn shop to always look for some Pokemon games for GBC or GBA. i gotta step by sometime cause thanks to you i just discovered this!
Epic score. For the retro stuff prices, it's as if you time traveled back 20 years.
I love that your kids are singing to the broken Nes's LOL
Hyperkin actually makes replacement NES cart lids now if you ever see one like that. As long as it runs, just hit the top shell with a bit of retrobrite (or both the shell and the lid with some dye), and you're good to go.
Dream come true for a retro collector..nice haul John
AHHH! The triple combo for $200! I haven’t been this jealous in sooo long!
Wow you hit the jackpot of yard sales lol . I wish I could find something like this in my city
John this really reminds me of Flea Market Madness
The red circle cd is Orgy's first album "Candyass" I believe
Your the luckiest guy and family in the world. Great job dude. keep up the great work.
Amazing find! Those games were a collection of someone favorites. Clean and classic, great deal Rigg's. . !
I live about 30 minutes away from Yax & MAN I hope to be there this year!
I'm no Nintendo fan, but that is an insane haul. You basically got the most wanted games for each system for a total steal. Dude could have easily asked for twice that amount.
I couldn't stop smiling the whole entire video, sounds and looks like you're one swell guy. SUBBED
enjoyable to see all that haul..I'm pretty stoked myself for a local garage market real soon
I followed because the 8-ball told me too. But also because you've got a great personality and tremendous luck! Thanks!
Thank you for Making this I was unfortunate to able to attend this year's biggest yards sale didnt expect yakima to have some good find O.o, you Made the palm springs of Washington look interesting :p
That NES box was amazing! wow, i was excited when you found that one lol. You got a great price on all of those for only $200.
Make more of this series...it's got a Pat the NES Punk feel to it...very nostalgic & cla$$y
10:33 PS3 Kingdoms of Amalur is one of the best games I've played in years. Fable/Zelda/Skyrim in one.
i hope you picked up those ps3 controllers for $5!
Bad example would be finding Little Sampson at some 90 year old lady's flea market table (just that game under clothes that they somehow randomly decided to move) and she would be like "ummmmm let's go ¢0.02"
If only I could find deals like these... amazing find man
Really not a bad deal for all those systems! Good for you! Now have fun cleaning the contacts on all of them haha.
Can't believe you passed up the Hello Kitty Guitar. Should have given that to Metal Jesus. He would have rocked out on that for sure!
I literally almost gasped when I saw that rocket launcher for the SNEs... even more for the large gamepad with the stick in the right side.
7:30 that he man castle was a gem!!!!!
Damn!!! What an awesome come up! So many consoles and bundles for a great price, especially the Genesis for $5 plus a free snes like damn I need that kinda luck!
I wish i had such yard sales in my country with same prices as you bought all these things
Giant Darth Vader per dispenser beside that symphony filter game. Damn.
Just found your channel, awesome video. My Wii still has Netflix installed on it haha. Great finds
that was awesome your kid is witty she was clowning those two broke down "hungry" neses lol
Man I can't wait till the summer so I can go yard saleing
200 for the whole box? Great deal and then some
I just got secret of mana recently too. A must own jrpg if there ever was one
Do your daughters have to knock on your bedroom door at night and tell you to stop playing video games and go to bed? LOL
Thanks for the video...
Nice pick up on the sega genesis model one. I love that model, it is my favorite of all three of them.
i love going to garage sales. i have so many great deals on video games and other stuff. im big into pro wrestling and have found so many great wrestling items at garage sales for so cheap. and you meet alot of really cool people
SNES games stopped including the dust sleeves in 1994. Also, that's a Super Scope wireless receiver (not for a controller). Though there are official first-party wireless 6-buttons Genesis controllers, that one is for one of those crappy AtGames systems. :(
Wow! Nice find... congrats.
Looking back on videos like these hurts... these days you could NEVER find a SNES and a Genesis for 5 bucks, that would NEVER happen
Hay John I'm almost as excited seeing what you picked up as I would if I found all that stuff myself, awesome find
holy moly, that dude had every awesome game they made!

Holy Crap! There wasn't a bad game in the lot! Super deal, Lucky, lucky man!
