I have the same thing on all my Rolex crowns. I'm told it's a "feature", but it's definitely awkward since I tend not to need to wind/adjust my watches often as I wear for long stretches at a time.
I agree its not a feature. Maybe the rubber seal is tougher in the beginning and winding mechanism needs to be "broken in" as they say. But definitely not a feature. I have gotten used to it whenever it stops on long weekends.
