I just picked up a 94 yj for $4000 Canadian. I love the yj. The best part about the square headlights is it's the same 5x7 square light as an xj and a lot of older dodge and Chevy trucks and there are a tonne of led convertible lights.
Working on Jeep #15 which is a YJ. Ignoring "fluff" and looking at the mechanics and durability: YJ: thicker body panel metal and thicker frame metal, stiffer frame, frame will self clean to a point, more like a real Jeep TJ: more like a light duty SUV. Thinner body panel metal, thinner frame metal. frame is a trash trap and prone to significant corrosion.Overall the vehicle is a rust bucket waiting to happen. On 3 of the TJ's I brought in the shift linkage on the transfer case was completely seized. Never saw that on a YJ.All had significant frame corrosion and 1 was too far gone to repair the frame. Engines: far and away the best and longest lasting post CJ engine is the 4.2:L in-line 6 cylinder. With normal maintenance it's a 300,000+ mile engine. Easy way to kill a Jeep is to do a lift and put on 33" or larger tires: mechanical strain is terrible and will trash the drivetrain from the engine to the rear differential. Best transmission is the AX-15. Weakest is the BA10/5.Avoid an automatic like the black death(or the Covid of today).
I paid five grand for a very clean yj 94 four banger, but so clean 50,000 miles and original paint hard top extra doors. No mods at all looks like show room floor. and 5 speed.
The TJ is the superior Jeep but I definitely love the YJ, especially with that vintage shifter on the column. Just dig the YJ interior, absolutely classic. The only interior I like more is the CJ. The Saharas have always had the best interiors with both the YJ and the TJ. My favorite Jeeps are any flat fender Willys, CJ-7 Laredo, CJ-8 Scrambler and my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn with the amazing AMC 4.0 And no problem being a novice Jeep guy, we all have to start somewhere, cool video. 😎 O|||||||O 🇺🇲 Only in a 2 Dr 🇺🇲 '41 - '06
Dude’s. I own both Jeeps , I got a 1993 YJ and a 2002 TJ. But I LOVE my YJ. the YJ it’s better on gas mileage and also got more POWER like than the TJ. both Jeeps are 6 cylinders inline engines with a 5 speed manual transmission
Well, its not just a jeep that rusts.. BUT with that said, its not a simple “fix” .. rust is alive. That jeep could need a whole new tub. I said could..
Had a 95 yj best car I ever owned . Thing was getting old and needed a daily so sold it but getting a tj for the next Jeep . YJ might be the last real Jeep but it was the first real Jeep in my opinion to so it is old and you are going to have to deal with work and rust compared to a tj when your going up in years and probably won’t have half the problems . TJ in 2021 in my opinion is the last real Jeep for anyone looking for a long term fun vehicle that won’t give you grey hair
Brother, I was going to rip you a new one until you said you hadn't been in the business long. Please uderstand this about us folks that love our Jeeps. It's personal. Read the jeep forums, watch a rebuild video or two, talk with someone who has owned one for 35 years. If that's all you sell then know your wares, especially with a video titled the difference between YJ and TJ. Short of a couple cosmetic issues, I don't think you pointed out but a few. Party on!
You can take a jk wrangler headlight and put it in the tj with a clear lense its upgrade cause will be brighter but you are right with the plastic lenses fading over time
@@CarolinaCarVideos yes they will the difference between the headlights is when u order aftermarket, u get a pig tail for the jk headlights u can order aftermarket headlights for a tj 9 times out of 10 they'll send you the pigtail for a jk
Only a YJ owner would say this never having owned a TJ. I was never too keen on YJ's because of the squares but that was foolishness on my part. They are tremendous Jeeps! I have great memories of my college roommate's '89 YJ, helping him take the doors and windows off and somehow finding room for them in our dorm. Cruising around Boston in an open air Jeep and wheelin' it in NH was one of the best things about my college days. I remember getting my drunk girlfriend in the backseat of it after the spring formal and getting her back to her dorm. Anyway, Jeep unofficially ended in 2006 with the last of the TJ's and LJ's rolling off the assembly line. We no longer have steel bumpers, steel grills and most importantly all 2 door Jeeps. I will never have another Jeep made after '06, they are complete garbage with fluff bells and whistles never meant for any pre Wrangler or Wrangler. My favorite Jeeps are any flat fender Willys, CJ-7 Laredo, CJ-8 Scrambler and my '05 TJ Rocky Mtn with the amazing AMC 4.0 I6. It's an absolute animal off road and by far the best, most fun and capable vehicle I've had.
This guy is crazy asking prices for rust buckets. Yeah I’ll say doesn’t know much about Jeeps. But common bro this straight up trash for 8k$. Let me ask you this can I get 12k$ for my ‘95 with not rust on frame. Plenty in the body though but way easier than frame. When the broncos come out he’s gonna be waiting much more longer to make sales. Lol
Hey Darren, I'm no longer doing videos and sales at Rodgers Wranglers, but if you visit there website I'm sure you'll find a few LJ's they have for sale right now. www.RodgersWranglers.com Thanks for asking! Chad
'95 YJ.............. Ain't nothing better. And my YJ has no rust. Yes I said no rust anywhere. It's a Southern Thang. I had someone want to buy it from me ... And I told him that it wasn't for sale ! BUT he kept on insisting that everything is for sale if the price was right ............... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said ok , that I would sell it to him for $$$$$$ 50,000.00 $$$$$$$$$. Yes and so the story ends right there. He said that I was CRAZY and I told him that it wasn't for sale and that I did not want to sell it to him. BYE !!!!!!!!!! SEE YA... LATER DUDE. And that's my story and I'm sticking to it.. Oh BTW I have customized my YJ to the max. And still improving on it everyday. I would put up pictures but I haven't figured out how to.

I own one too and the 5 x 7 headlights are actually rectangle not square
I own a yj and on both you need to check for frame rot as both yj and tj both are known for having it

No
I dont think independent suspension means what you think it means.
I paid five grand for a very clean yj 94 four banger, but so clean 50,000 miles and original paint hard top extra doors. No mods at all looks like show room floor. and 5 speed.
That is very cheap. I have a YJ with a TJ frame and Dana 44 rear.
I got a 92 yj and I love it

The window wings open the opposite direction. :-)

That’s a clean YJ and with a 4.0
I dig the YJ

Can you do a video like this doing the differences between the TJ and the YJ? :)
Are you stupid? Because thats how you stupid
Lol
Square is rare baby
the headlights are 90 degree edge RECTANGLE , not square ( 5" x 7" )
Yj all day 👍
TJ 🙌
None of that leaf spring stoneage suspension
I have a YJ with a TJ frame, and Dana 44 rear.
Love my 1995 Rio Grande!

Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other
Those mirrors look really bad on a YJ, not OEM
I love my yj and it was much cheaper to buy than a cj or tj
Tj trail jeep yj. The letter y just seems to be different series production build.
It stands for Yuppie Jeep, I have a 95 and absolutely love it
Those mirrors on the yj are not oem
I like the body of the tj and the interior of the yj. Messed up.
I prefer the body and capability of the TJ and the interior of the CJ. Put those together and you have the greatest Jeep ever built.
He didn't know how to open the ventilator window. Funny
You can take a jk wrangler headlight and put it in the tj with a clear lense its upgrade cause will be brighter but you are right with the plastic lenses fading over time
That's good to know. So the JK Headlights will fit on a TJ.

Yj is vintage
