I am europian, and my husband is ethiopian. Our daughter is 9 years old and she has 3c curls, and hates them, mostly because she doesn't know what to do with it, and wants to have straight hair like me. Her grandma uses relaxer, so she wants it to use it as well, but I said no, and now I am learning everything about 3c hair. So happy there is more and more girls who choose not to damage their hair,. Her hair is really dry, and cocount oil doesn't help a lot, any tips?
Marina Gradac a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, and then leave in conditioner . Don’t shampoo daily, strips hair. Oil on ends of hair, Moroccan oil.
Deep condition
Hi Marina! My daughter is biracial and I have done a ton of research on what to do with her hair. I work with it every night, the biggest thing that her hair needs is moisture. I also read books to her about having big curly hair (Mixed Me by Taye Diggs is a good one) and help her in learning how to take care of it. I put a leave in conditioner in it almost every day, I only shampoo her hair once a week and deep condition every week. Taking the time to care for it I think will help give her ownership of it and start to love it, 3C hair is so beautiful! I hope this helps.
Do a deep conditioning at least once a week maybe do it whilst she’s watching tv . Brush her hair before bedtime and then plait/braid her hair using a leave in conditioner then cover her hair up with a satin cap to reduce frizz. Then in the morning she can leave her hair out but add. bit of water and curl defining cream to manage her hair easily :) hope this works for you (:
Moon , I'm ethiopian also and have 3b - 3c hair. Make sure to keep her hair moisturized and make sure to deep condition her her regularly. Do NOT wash her hair everyday, as that will damage it. If coconut oil isn't working try olive oil and coconut oil together. As for your daughter not embracing the beauty of her hair yet, I'm pretty sure almost every natural didn't want to have curly hair at one point in their life. I'm talking from experience, especially if she's teenage or younger, she's going to want to fit in with everyone else and wants to have the easy way by having straight hair. She'll get there soon! Hope this helped!

i need this because as my mom is Somali and she has super wavy hair and so does my dad. I ended up with 3b curls and I was in charge of taking care of me and my siblings hair because we all have similar hair. Im with you on the wide tooth comb. I use a large satin bonnet with smooth edges(no ruffles) and it doesnt come off.

I have that same edge brush from Amazon! I love it and it’s not rough on your edges.
The Wet Brush is my favorite hair tool! Detangles in half the time of a Denman and I lose very little hair. I love it! I use it after adding my styling products also and it gives me perfect ringlets.

You need try Hair bungees (literally a mini bungee cord for your hair !!) and the hair bean or paddle brush. When used on drenched hair...your curls POP.

Hey jasmine!! I have very similar hair except mines blonde and I love the mixed chicks leave in conditioner, it’s meant for biracial people with mixed hair and it works really well. You should try it out!

Jasmine (as well as others) I know you hate finger detangling but try Pantene’s Pro-V “Curl Defining Conditioner” it looses your hair on contact. Leave it on for 5 minutes & you’ll finger detangle so easily. It’s sold everywhere & it’s only $5-$8💖

I own EcoStyler Krystal Styling Gel, and need to see if it’s expired since I’ve had it open since 2015. I need to get the fine mist spray bottle from Sally Beauty Supply or Amazon. I need that edge brush from Sally Beauty Supply or from Amazon for my edges & baby hair. I need those Revlon Strong Hold elastic bands for my medium density hair!
