For the November wedding question, I'd recommend looking into "cool flowers" many of them will be able take a frost. Strawflower, statice, bachelor's buttons, snapdragons, calendula,

Thanks for the Rudebeckia advice I planted a few new varieties last year and they really brought a lot of joy to my garden and to a few boquets I was able to add them to! Blessings for an awesome 2024 season! 🤗🎉🥳🌹

Stratification of dry seeds doesn't do the job. It's better to put seeds on a damp piece of tissue paper in a small zip lock bag and put it in the fridge before sowing. For how long depends on the species. It's usually 30 or 60 day.

I love rudbeckia! 1 of my favorite flowers. Special connection with my sweet whippet Nousje (small sighthound) that past away 8 years ago. Always had them as a perennial in the garden. Up until she was a few years old (just to have a cottage garden, but I gave that up when she came so she had more space to run around). Special thing was, when she died in May, suddenly, the rudbeckia came back after being away for years... And only for that summer, disappeared again after that... I know it sounds crazy, but I always say that it was her that send them for comfort because she was so a special dog and it was very hard to lose her . Still miss her. So Rudbeckias a very special (and beautiful)

It’s not just workers comp that you pay as a small business. You also have to pay taxes on your employees. The amount of social security and FICA that’s withheld from your pay is the same amount your employer has to pay from their profits. Then there’s state and federal unemployment tax, village and state tax, school district tax and the cost of figuring out all that information and laying it to the proper places. That’s all on the employer. Good luck, Nicole!

I guess I must have missed the episode on Q&A so here is mine: I’ve seen some of your older vlogs about how you acquired your property, my question is have you always known you wanted to grow and sell flowers or was this an offshoot of another idea? I live in a small town in Texas and growing flowers seems just as hard as growing veggies let alone having it as a business.

Don’t get discouraged by all the water coming in. I know you guys will be able to manage it with drain tiles. It will be a little digging around the property but with the equipment that you have at your disposal, it should make it a lighter job.

Hi Nicole, love your videos. I’m heading into my second year growing flowers in Maine zone 5B (now 6A with new maps). Can you address which flowers you can grow from seed that are perennial? Last summer I had rudbeckia, foxglove, snapdragon, feverfew, sun ball, and sweet William. Will they come back this spring from the plant itself or will they come back from re-seeding?
