Really need some of that roof guttering for my q. Those holes in the firewall are normally from underdash or "kneefreeze" ac unit for the suction, liquid and drain lines, the factory ac wouldnt have them so a bit confusing why they are there.
that oval hole in the boot was on sydney built bodies only and only a few had them the cover is actually the small heater delete cover that hk ht hg holdens had thats why it looks that way it was to help access the fuel sender unit if you look on the fastlane holden forum they talk more about it holden did some odd things back then hope this helps
You should record the door creak before its fixed and maybe sort a micro-switch activated recording playback option; for memories sake. I doubt it has commercial potential though could be a good sample for a music mix.
Awsome progress 👌🏻 both my statesman’s have those hole saw cutouts for the heater core, most hq’s I’ve looked at have always them, can’t wait to see how the rear wheel housings turn out
Thanks, not sure if Paul will let me near his work with a hole saw but sounds like it will have to happen 🤣 once the wheel housings are done, the rear quarters can go on and that's some serious progress!
I’ve seen several HQ-HZ sedans and a HQ coupe with those holes in the rear boot and I’ve also seen factory cars with those unusual holes underneath the heat box as well so it’s all done at the factory. I also had another question which is the best steel to use to weld in patches, cold steel or is there better to use
What a job on the roof & drip rails - superb!
@@craighighmore4302 thanks, got a lot more progress done, I'll get back on the videos!
Wow that’s a real labour of love
I’ve got a 308 HQ sedan 👌🏻
@@jimduggin5535 certainly for love 🤣 not sure if you know the back story, my father's car that I grew up in, learned how to drive etc.
doesnt get much better than this workmanship
Thanks, we'll have some new fab work videos coming up soon!
Any progress is good, but that is coming along real well. Cool to see.
Thanks, I remember standing in my shed looking at that roof and car in general and it felt impossible, great to be at this stage 👍
I'm going to do some work on my hq statesman today, getting a bit of motivation looking at some other builds. Great work guys.
That's cool to hear, I know what you are saying it's good motivation even if occasionally I did more RUclips watching than actual work on the car 🤣

Another confusing story I heard was about Wb utes, some had a rough hole cut for the gear shift stick even though they were autos.

Thanks that is quite interesting, definitely odd only done to a few cars. Its going to be one of those things I'll check every Holden for now!

Haha yeah sounds good! I'm not sure if it was that loud back then but sounds the same 👍

Cheers, I feel like there might be a few things I'll need some help on when it gets to reassembly 😬
@@The-State-of-it no problem mate when ever you need a hand feel free to ask
firewall holes are punchmarked on every q, marked ready to drill out for dealers, ac option
Interesting I'll have a look at that next time I see the car 👍

Interesting, it will be one of those things I'll look for on Holdens now. I'll ask Paul about the steel and get let ya know 👍
