I remember seeing The Hills have eyes remake as a child, then you must imagine how disturbing this movie was for a 11-years-old kid. In fact, I saw it with my entire family at launch time. On the other hand, I was waiting for this movie reaction, so you two did it a good job guys.
I liked the part where the family got stuck, looked around and collectively said, "It looks like, THE HILLS HAVE EYES." And then the hills winked a couple of times.
An absolute brutal horror movie, and an
example of why remakes exists and aren't
usually terrible some people believe. It does almost everything better than the original.
The brutally, the tension, the hopeless
atmosphere, the eerie isolation, the unsettling soundtrack... just a masterclass in horror.
I felt the same way with The Last House on the Left remake.
Most remakes absolutely ARE terrible, it's a fact.
The soundtraco is good and the post atom bomb setting is on point
@@synical13 Opinions are not fact.
Remakes ARE usually terrible. Just because this one isn't doesn't mean they aren't usually
This is the best horror remake ever done in my opinion
Definitely up there
For me, it's Dawn of the Dead, or maybe The Crazies.
2013 Evil Dead all day
Dawn of the dead 2014 remake is wayyyyy better. But this is still an amazing remake
@Keith That was kinda more of a Re-quel than a Remake, it's confirmed to be set in the same universe with a different set of characters, following through a similar plot much like the original film
The effects were made by Greg Nicotero and his amazing team. Same guys who do the effects for The walking dead. Greg also plays the hill person with the headgear named Cyst.
Fun fact, the old man wasn't going to redirect them until he realised the sussy loot was discovered.
Prawda
A pod koniec filmu rodzeństwo mogło zrobić pułapkę, ponieważ owczarek niemiecki ,,Bestia" wcześniej zagryzł jednego z kanibali, który ich obserwował.
One of the best remakes ever its so haunting and distubring its so sad to lol such a devasting movie. But so good.
Serbian Film puts this movie to shame
A great movie . I think that they perfectly showed the development of Doug. From pacifist to mutant exterminator. And it's a pity that part 2 is no longer like this .
Fun fact: The gas station set was built on location in Morocco. It was so authentic that occasionally someone not involved in the production would stop to buy gas.
29:05 Beast really deserved the kill, he got half his family killed. The best kill in the movie too.
House of Wax from 2005 is a solid, underrated remake that’s worth a watch!
Super underrated
Since “underrated” is everybody’s favorite word and you people love calling everything “underrated” even if it’s inaccurate, you all should start a cult where you can worship that word. Every 2 seconds there is somebody saying that someone or something is “underrated” it’s annoying as hell
@@nsasupporter7557your annoying as hell. 😊
Soundtrack was phenomenal.
You know the director of that remake didn't even want to remake house of wax. He wanted to remake a movie I Believe from the 80s called tourist trap. I don't know about anyone else, I actually prefer the original house of wax. I'm not saying the remake is bad I just love the original more.
"She blew out the candles", and everything within five miles.
I love how at the end it went from horror to straight revenge thriller
reminds me the move call the wrong turn
Fun Fact: The body parts used in the container were actually reused by the team KNB from when they worked on Hostel.
Beast must have tracked Beauty's smell and it lead him right to the freak who murdered her
You guys are hands down my favourite reaction channel...Just yourselves, being yourselves...love it.
Casting Buffalo Bill as the Dad was a stroke of genius.
Ted Levine wasn’t actually buffalo bill he just played that character in silence of the lambs it was actually Gary Michael Heidnik
@@bradettinger3380 Thank you for making me aware that the actor Ted Levine was just playing a role and not an actual serial killer. Thank you so much. [Sarcasm mode: off].
@@bradettinger3380 Lol, you don't really believe someone would think they let serial killers go on to have movie careers, do you? 😂
@@wiseguy100 I’m sure you already knew Gary Michael Heidnik was the serial killer based off of buffalo bills character like you already knew Alfredo Ballí Treviño was based off of Hannibal Lecter I could just say that also to make it seem like I know what I’m talking about🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤣
@@1981mrdavid well obviously not🤦🏻♂️I wasn’t drop on my head like you were as a baby I just know more about horror films then you but honestly for how ignorant people are today I don’t blame people for killing one another🤷🏻♂️
Brutal movie with a great antagonist in doug….goes on a one man mutant killing spree to save his daughter..and actually wins, which doesnt happen to often in horror movies
The mother was in Event Horizon. The director made High Tension and the Piranha remake. Majority changes made were to the mutants.
And the dad who gets burned was Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs.
Looks like Claire learned a lot of survival skills from her time on the island.
Doug is such a sick character arc, he feels like an annoying toss away character that just suddenly goes on an heroic revenge spree, when he picks up his glasses and that music kicks in its genuinely fantastic.
The scene straight after Doug kills Pluto when Doug fixes his glasses, is a reference to Dustin Hoffman in STRAW DOGS.
“I don’t think she’s got the stomach for that.” Damn that was a fine joke! Haha!
There is actually a comic book prequel to this film called "The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning", which I highly recommend. It's definitely worth your time. So, the guy at the beginning in the gas station was actually an old ally of the community, before the government screwed them out of their land and turned them into mutants. If I remember right, he had a relationship with the matriarch who would give birth to the mutant leader. He tried his best to help them out, but after things went to shit, I think he felt he had to keep giving them people as payment. That's why he's apologizing just before he commits suicide - he felt he failed all of them, and knows what a monster he's become. As to what happens to Doug and the kids, you find that out in the comic book - I will say it's not a completely unhappy ending, despite that stinger in the film. The comic book is actually a pretty in-depth tragedy; it's not just blood and gore. Although there is one hell of a battle between the government troops and the mutants. It's available for free online. Fun fact: the images shown in the intro are actual mutations of children in real life from Agent Orange, which the government used in Vietnam. That's what chemical warfare does, folks.
I like this movie, but it's not an easy watch, and I don't watch it often. It's greatly disturbing, which is what I feel a horror movie is supposed to be, and I think it feels more like Wes' complete vision of what he originally wanted to do, just enhanced with Alexandre Aja's input. One thing I think was sacrificed was the family dynamic between the mutants. With them being an actual community here and not just one single family, you'd think the ties would run deeper, but the film doesn't dwell on it. Jupiter is a shell of himself, and I prefer the version in the original. Hades, who is the actual patriarch of the mutant community, gets even worse treatment in the sequel. Other than that, I think it's a perfect example of how to do a remake of a classic movie while honoring the original, and not stomping all over its memory. You guys should check out "The Blob" (1988) one time, if you want to see another example of how to vastly improve on the source material, when doing a remake.
As for the sequels...the original sequel is considered one of the worst horror movies ever made. But it has a dog flashback from Beast! 😂 The remake sequel is worth watching only if you want to see the gore and the brutal kills. If you thought Jupiter got no characterization here, or Mars or Pluto, Hades is even worse - he's a pure paper thin one-dimensional villain. Like I said, you have to read the comic book if you want any info on his backstory and the community of mutants. Ironic, since in the comic he gets a full character arc that is excellently realized and paints him as very sympathetic. Honestly, they would have been better off just waiting a bit and filming the comic book as is - it would have made a much better sequel/prequel.
And what happened to the family from part 1. Doug and others
I have the book love it every bit.
I have that comic book somewhere in my house. Really glad they came out with that! Definitely an entertaining read. Would be absolutely awesome if they did a movie based on it 😵 I just don’t think enough people are interested in the story as some of us are. It’s nowhere near as popular as Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, or SAW. So I doubt we’ll ever get to see this 😢
I forgot Kathleen Quinlan plays the mom. She always makes me think of one of Kurt Russells best movies "Breakdown"(1997).
Love her!
"Breakdown" is really great and quite underrated.
@@Cosmic86x Yeah, that movie makes you scared of cowboys. Lol.
She's also in a good film called Warning Sign, which nobody's heard of.
@@Emulous79 Warning Sign is a good 80s movie! Hardly anyone ever talks about that movie. 28 Days Later creators probably saw it and copied the rage infection story. That's what I think.
I saw this with my dad on HBO and it's pretty crazy from start to finish.
You two ever watch wrestling on the television? We would do it together like me and my uncle?
I remember the first movie being quite shocking at the time, and I think this remake does an amazing job of still being quite shocking in 2006. It sort of looks like an early-2000s generic US horror movie but ramps up to something more like a french new extremity film really quickly. It got a little bit drowned in the deluge of similar stuff like Wrong Turn at the time, but I think this really stands out as a great horror movie, and a brilliant remake.
Nothing more cringey than a weeb pseudointellectual
This remake was fckn brutal. I loved it! They originally got an NC-17. Not surprised 😂
It's 3 am and I'm alone camping in the woods. While watching this reaction....it's pretty creepy
the Rv scenes probably scar me for life
I love how Alexander Aja swaped the Breathing over the radio scene for the scene with Doug at the junk yard crators.
My grandmother, sweet kindly old woman god rest her soul, this was her favorite movie. IFC would play it near weekly and she would watch it every single time. Grandma was really something else.
My first time actually ‘watching’ the hills have eyes, this was a good video to learn the storyline without actually scaring the crap out of myself and I’ve gotta say, little pup pup did a very good job and I’m proud of our little beasty!
Wes Craven & John Carpenter made horror cinema what it is today. I would love to see you 2 react to "The Last House on the Left"(1972) Wes Cravens first film & its remake from 2009. One thing was changed to turn the movie from a revenge film to a survival film. John Carpenters first film "Assault on Precinct 13"(1976) is a brilliant watch.
Was 16 when this came out, having grown up with horror it’s amazing to see how strong it evolved. This still shocks as to how graphic this one was but it’s still one of the best remakes out there. Loved your reaction. If you haven’t seen it yet you should try wrong turn, last house on the left and I spit on your grave, those films are way out there though LOL. Also the guy beating on the dad in the house was played by Michael Bailey smith who also played as Freddy Krueger in a nightmare on elm street part five and also played a few demons on the show charmed.
Fun fact! The guy who plays the main baddie, Lizard is the partner of Henry Kreiger who composed the music for Dreamgirls.
This obviously isn't like one of the best movies ever or anything, but the shot of Doug picking up and putting on his glasses with the hero guitar playing is absolutely one of my favorite shots ever.
10:05 Not all of us feel that way, but that's pretty damned funny.
I gotta creepy jump scare
movie for y'all to watch the Strangers 😱
Beast had the best trainer/Dog Handler in this movie. And Aaron Stanford as Doug was a perfect choice. Can we get a thumbs up for the gore! 👌
That Saturday Night Main Event shirt is 🔥
I used to work for place where we would have a haunted house every year and we built a trailer and recreated this version of the movie. All I know is if I didn’t work on the project I’d be scared to death. 😂
There are few times a movie out shines the original, this is one of them.
That son in law looks like the dad can rip him to shreds, I wouldn't be mouthing off lol
Cabin Fever and Wrong Turn
My uncle rented this movie for us in 2006 when I was 10 years old and up until now it’s one of the few horror movies I can sit all the way through 😭I needed therapy once I heard “Daddy”! While the dad was in the car
neither a cigar nor a cigarette will ignite gasoline or the vapor. they don't want you smoking at a gas station because they don't want you to light one up at the pump, that will set it off.
Technically speaking in real life it should have been filmed in St George Utah based on actual fallout and some personal family experience.
I don't know how I've never noticed you guys have legend of zelda on your wall! Made me happy seeing it cause that's easily my favorite series of all time
My favorite horror film of ALL time. I saw this in theaters with my parents and I had NO clue what I was in for. The opening music, direction, violence all stuck with me. Doug vs Lizard was so memorable
Great reaction guys love your vids been watching them since u started
This version of the hills have eyes Will always be ma favorite 😍
This remake was the best! Mainly because it scared the shit outta me as a kid and we live in the desert. No other movie traumatized me like this one.
This remake is the best👍.
*By the way : I saw this unrated version in the movie theater back in 2006....it was "ab 18", which means "Approved for ages 18 and up".....normal in Germany, because there's no higher age-rating....* ⬅🎥🎬📀📺
I watch this movie in theater when it came out and it still creeps me out.
3:34 Moments like these, amongst many others, is why I love your guy's channel.. 😂👌
I really like the reactions of this couple, at the moment I can't afford the subscription level that allows me to make movie suggestions, but I really hope that someone who is already inside recommends House of Wax at some time, it's another remake that It seems to me that it is very well done, I hope one day they will react to it.
House of Wax is on our list and was on a poll vs 13 ghosts.
@@YouMeTheMovies this Film Franchise gives me Wrong Turn Franchise Vibes in a way!
@@YouMeTheMovies does watching this Film Franchise make both of y'all love birds want 2 get your own fearlessly fearsome ferocious/vicious Guard Dog(s) in a way 4 both when at home & traveling?
As a New Mexico native we actually have a few big lakes people go boating on. Elephant butte and hering lake to bake a few. Literally desert and then bam big lake lol.
After the Evil Dead 2013 remake this is one of the better remakes I've seen.
evil dead 2013 is not remake, it's actually different book if you asked Sam raimi
Wow I didnt realize that was Buffalo Bill! Please review Breakdown (1997) also with the great Kathleen Quinlan as well as Kurt Russell.
Breakdown is badazz.
"It's Breakfast Time!!!"
One of my first ever horror’s I seen as a kid, and I still love it.
"It's Saturday Night's Main event"😊
This movie really disturbed me when i saw it. I wasn't expecting it to be so extreme. Especially that first attack by the mutants. Very intense
You guys should check the directors earlier movie "Switchblade Romance".
Great! One of my favorite remakes
You both looked genuinely shocked at this. Certainly one the best horror remakes I've ever seen.
Love your Saturday Nights Main Event t shirt!
This movie and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" are the best public warnings to STAY ON THE GODDAMNED HIGHWAY!!!! NEVER TAKE BACKROADS EVER!!!! THAT'S WHERE THE WEIRDOS LIVE!!! STAY ON THE HIGHWAY!!!!!
You better buy the Mrs something nice after watching this one
28:42 more movies need to do this when a death is about to happen, to accentuate the gruesome and impactful moment. Another good example is Halloween 6 (1995) The Curse of Michael Myers Debra Strode Death.
When I saw this in the theaters at 15 years old I was like “alright I’m out” once the sister was shot lol was just way too much 😂 I do love this movie though. The Hills remake will forever be the most disturbing slasher ever made.
Robert Joy....he is so Good actor, so Good they Gave him a bigger Roler in" resurrection" ( 1999) rather than only playing the special agent....
OMG. I love the shirt that Mrs. Movies is wearing.
Awesome review of this remake!!! Love the original from 1970s and love how more brutal this remake is. Yep - saw this remake in the theater and it was just as graphic then.
Do not remember much from the original sequel but the sequel remake is even MORE brutal than this movie and is well worth the watch.
Hope you get around to see the 1990s remake of "Night of the Living Dead" - actually like that movie better than the original.
funny how Mr/Mrs Movies ask : " who was your favourite member in the family and what was the most gruesome death.." and nobody in the comments answers... haha
1:01 never saw the original.
A little bit later
4:02 A homage to that bottle scene from the original
Yeah. You're going to have to work on that to help lure in the rubes
I can't wait to see you guys watching House of Wax (2005)! Elisha Cuthbert is in it, a good SCREAM queen!
Paris Hilton, too. Surprisingly not a bad actress!
Want them to watch "House of a 1000 Corpses" & "The Devils Rejects".
@@jamesbednar8625 yessssss
@@gothnate, I agree! Paris is ok, maybe even fine, in this case. I think director Jaume Collet-Serra directed the actors well.
House of Wax is epic.
That Saturday Nights Main Event shirt is dope
I quote “it’s breakfast time” and “daddy” almost every day to my wife or daughter
This movie was so fucking disturbing. Literally gave me nightmares 😂
Good remake but I still prefer the original. The original The Hills Have Eyes, The Evil Dead and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre all had this great 70's early 80's lo-fi feel to them.
Every time that dude is on screen, all I hear is "Goodbye Horses!"
I've only seen one from these set of movies, which is remake part 2. I only watched it because a coworker of mine highly recommended it, and I have to agree. It would be a good suggestion for your next reMAYke month.
So, I feel like I must have seen the theatrical cut. Now, I know why customers coming into the [video/music] store I worked at when this film came out telling me how much more brutal this remake was.
It’s crazy how much of this I didn’t remember. I don’t recall any of the intro prior to the nuclear explosion footage. I didn’t recall the shots to the head being so graphic, but I assumed that was because of the unrated element of the version.
Best horror remake of all time
No vacations to New Mexico.
Love the Saturday night main event shirt
You should really consider doing the new Total Recall and Sam Raimi The Quick and the Dead, which is absolutely awesome and full of so many stars, (Sharon Stone Gene Hackman, Leonardo Dicaprio and more) before the month of RemayK ends
Seen one thing that said there are some of those towns out there like this they built them for testing but never got to test them so they sit abandoned there's at least a few ghost towns like this out there lol
This traumatized me as a kid when I saw this
This movie is VERY disturbing but somehow very good.
Serbian Film puts this movie to shame
Me and my siblings used to watch this movie with our parents when we were in middle school, wtf
This movie is loosely based on the Bean clan in Ireland that ate over 1000 people in a 25 year reign.
When Doug shotguns the last guy, that music is pure goosebumps!! such a great scene and OST
Love the WWF Saturday Night Main Event Tee.
One of the best remakes imo. Better than the original
I agree with the Mrs., Beast and Ruby the best family members
I Spit on Your Grave remake was fantastic too guys
