I used to work as a medic and occasionally picked up elderly patients at nursing homes to transport them to a doctor's appointment. The type of food they receive is criminal. I used to listen to the elderly while I was driving, heard their complaints from the back of the ambulance - broke my heart - they do not care about these people....as a side note: I was fired from this job because one elderly lady I transported asked me to drive through a specific part of town, to see the house she was born in one last time. I did, we were 5 minutes late for her appointment, I was fired as a result. The lady passed away several weeks later. I would do it again.

Nursing home food killed my grandfather. He checked himself in at 96 because he had leg injuries from several farm accidents over the years. He was farming 5 acres of land by himself until he was 94. Other than the legs, he was in good shape health wise. He ate mostly homemade soup at home, particularly chicken and beef. When he went into the nursing home, they fed him highly processed, trans fat types of food. He ended up having gall bladder problems and died from that. He had family that lived to be well over 100, such as his mother (116), a cousin (111), etc and would have probably been the same way if not for processed food.

I'm a trucker as well. I did on the road trucking for two years straight, and practically lived in that truck for 75% of the time.
The past six months I had bought a renogy 3000w inverter, a cast iron skillet, and a single burner cuisinart hot plate. I cooked nothing but butter fried eggs, grassfed butter and grassfed red meats from ruminant animals, organic grassfed milk (and recently A2 milk), and had fruits and honey at the end of it for occasional carbs.
I didn't need adderall after eating butter fried eggs for two months straight, I lost six inches of truck food blubber, my sleep apnea went away, I could wake up with no brain fog, I gained 15 pounds of muscle (former bodyweight was 135), higher testosterone levels, less mood swings and more.
Walmart is ok for some organic foods, but you really have to find where you can park bobtail or what place has accommodations for 75 feet of truck and trailer.

You dont even need to eat trans fats anymore - simply cooking on PFAS/PFOA type nonstick surfaces or using PFC ( perflourinated carbon) based materials to pack food - like disposable cups, mugs etc will cause same problems like Trans Fats.

If it has a label and has a list of things, then avoid it and look for that one ingredient like Salmon, or chicken or egg, or sweet peppers. Nothing else added, just pure one ingredient food. I bought a turn key, small restaurant six months ago, a diner really, the “shortening” that was being used in the deep friers was 100% soybean oil. It took a bit of hunting around, but I was able to source 100% beef tallow for my friers. Made the switch on that and did away with the “butter flavored griddle oil” which was used on pretty much every single breakfast that was cooked on the flat top. I save the bacon grease and use that instead. By doing away with the soy oil, and had to source olive oil (not extra virgin) for all other oil needs.

I just purchased some Fire King restaurant "grill plates". I made up my mind to use plates that were used in the 1940s-1950s when portions were smaller (and people were smaller). It unbelievable how much bigger plates and bowls are now. The Fire King plates are divided into three sections, one large and two small sections. That helps me keep my portions down. I try to stick to the outer rim of the store as much as I can and buy food with the least amount of ingredients as possible, preferably one or two and use mainly olive oil and bacon grease to cook with. I grow as many vegetables and fruits as I can in my back yard. I hope to get to the point where I can buy my meat (and milk to make yogurt and butter), etc. from local farmers/ranchers. I just do the best I can with what I have to work with at present. It takes extra effort for sure. I don't trust the flipping big food/medical/pharmaceutical industries at all.

For all of you who give up "because we can't eat anything".
Here is what you CAN eat.
You will return to pre-1980 meals.
Cooking. In an oven or on stovetop.
    Using heat and butter.
    Not microwave.
    Each food has ONE ingredient.
    Zero packaged anything.
This is in my pantry now:
    Beef heart
    Chicken gizzards
    Whole chicken roasters
    Butter (only oil I eat)
    Nutritional Yeast
    Whole yogurt
    Organic whipping cream
    Walnuts
    Pecans
    Canned oysters
    Canned skippers
    Bison
    70% hamburger
    Cocoa
    Whole milk
Sliced deli turkey (no additives just turkey)
Napa cabbage (make wraps and sandwiches)
Filter soda water from own machine
    Garlic whole and powder
    Onions whole powder and dried
    Himalaya salt
    Pepper
    Cinnamon
    Arugula
    Berries
    Spinach whole leaf and canned
Soup stock from a chicken roaster DIY in 8 qt stock pot
    Eggs
    Broccoli
    Brussel sprouts
As you can see the choices are vast.
What you have to do is actually cook food over heat using butter. No convenience. No microwave ready meals.
Note the complete lack of sugar and any chemicals or preservatives. No processed or prepackaged food.
Only carbs are in yogurt or dairy (naturally occurring) and in the berries.
For a dessert or "sweet treat" whip cocoa into whole milk.
Or cocoa into yogurt and add berries.
For a REALLY keto treat whip cocoa into whole whipping cream with a milk frother.
I have lost 25 pounds, glucose from 122 to 90, and bp to 117 / 74 eating this diet since March 1, 2023.

There are millions of ways to replace those poisonous products with healthy products. Margarine can be replaced with Natural Cow Butter (and it tastes much better). You can fry your chicken if you want with natural butter and you will enjoy it without killing yourself. Use the Mozarella Cheese melted oil to fry some protein as well. Those won't kill you. Normal sugar is BAD but it is MUCH MUCH better than artificial sweetners. For instance Cane Sugar is not good but it is much much better than white sugar. The point is, there are always alternatives that won't destroy your health.

Great video! It reinforced my need to always read nutrition labels also the ingredient list and learn what any chemical sounding ingredient really is. On a side note, I’ve had Roam Sticks from Singing Pastures and they are delicious. A little costly, maybe, but if you’re eating healthy Keto and IF, you don’t need to be gorging 12 sticks in one sitting. 😊

I have watched quite a few of these types of podcast on health, from max to Robert and now cook everything from scratch like I used to, today home made cheese scones. Thanks for the reminder of how bad processed food is. Always buy organic wherever I can. Homemade yoghurt is so delicious.

Having been a chef for over 20y unfortunately I can tell you unless the restaurant you are eating at is 4-5 🌟 or specifies that they don't use margarine, your food is getting cooked in the bad stuff. Almost every restaurant I've ever worked at has used cheaper oils to cook with the only places I've worked at that only used olive, avocado oil or butter were 4 star.

Disappointed in Dr Berg that he didn’t disclose the MAIN source for trans fats in America- mono and diglycerides (another loophole as emulsifiers don’t have to be labeled as trans fats)

This is why I am grateful for podcasts etc. Even though there is alot of noise, professionals fill the the GAPS the Government and Lobbyists have left.
I avoid processed foods and I use butter and olive oil.
I do enjoy the occasional junk though; but I usually make those temptations at home.

Instead of using Crisco for baking and cooking, I use it for emergency candles. I found out that the little flame on the Crisco can shows you why it was originally used! Works great in a black out!
