Another great video. I notice you haven't posted new videos in a couple of years. I hope you are doing well, healthy and safe and still painting. I have gotten a lot out of this series and am watching them for the 2nd or 3rd time. Thanks for making them!

This was extremely helpful! I am an experienced 28mm and 15mm painter but have been pondering how to approach painting my new 10mm ECW army. Now I know how to approach it. Thanks.

You make this look easy. I liked how the flock helped blend in the metal base of each guy to the larger base.

    Hi
i have just found your channel looking for guidance on painting an Austrian army of the Seven Years War in 15 mm.
Those 10 mm figures are fantastic.
I noticed that you didn't use any varnish when the figures were finished. Is there a reason for this?
When I paint my 28 mm figures I usually give them an overall wash in a Vallejo ink shade to dull the colour down then apply matt varnish.
Would you advise against this in the smaller scales?
Thanks for a great video, i am now a subscriber!
    Keith

+Keith Massey Wow, I personally wouldn't want to do anything do dull colors down when I'm done, especially at small scales where good contrast is harder anyway! But of course, that's your personal choice. I don't put varnish on any of my models, mostly because I don't need to - it's just for the demonstration and durability is not an issue. If I plan to use them to play, I do put some on.

Thanks, i had not thought about how a wash might affect 15 mm figures compared to 28's. I'll do a little experimenting first.
      Thanks

    Fantastic work!
I wonder how long it took you to paint that base of four miniatures.
Any chance on seeing you paint something in 6mm?

This video was actually pretty fast, it took me a couple of hours to complete. As for 6mm, I definitely will be trying some in the future, though I don't know when yet.

    Hi
Last weekend was Reapercon and show/tournament held locally. They had a lot of figures on display from the local talent. There was one difference I noticed between their figures and mine- how does one achieve a really dead flat. No matter what I seem to do my troopies always have a slight semi-gloss sheen, I promise I have used every species of flat clear topcoat. Help:):)
    BTW another great video.

Many colors of acrylic just won't dry quite matt. Some are worse than others and it depends also on the paint range and how thoroughly the paint was mixed before you used it. Top coats are the way to go, but can be hit or miss, I admit. Generally, spray ones seem to work more consistently, but I get the best results from enamel Matt varnish, not acrylic. My favorite is Revell. It will get just about anything flat matt, and adds a nice layer of protection as well.

how many figures do u have?...do u play wargames if so whats your favourite period?

    • @wssmagazine
      @wssmagazine  9 лет назад

+Robert Shand I have no idea how big my collection is honestly. I don't wargame much at the moment, but I have both a hellenistic army and a WWII German force. I probably spend more time painting than playing though.

I THINK I did, if they were sculpted on there. It's not a big deal to do in any case, if I forgot to show it.
