Excellent. Your presentation style, in wasting little to no time going from one subject to the next, combined with a detailed explanation in between subjects just as you show real time examples, simply works. It summarizes what us wannabe dronies could create. Fascinates me that actual drone clips usually last no more than 4 seconds, about the same as any commercial you will watch on primetime. Check the timing between cuts on any car commercial for example, 4 seconds. Anyway, you know this. Thanks for the quality review! It's encouraging that we don't have to spend huge bucks to play in a great hobby. It's just too much fun, and it changes how I see things. Our older family took pictures for the same reasons, this is the new us. Cool memories of who we are.
Really excellent overview and review! Got to say this - I've watched your videos over the years and it's been a while since I checked back on your channel - you've developed into a truly excellent tech presenter - kudos sir! I really enjoyed your take on the new drone!
Another awesome review. Bummer about the crash but glad it was recovered and still able to fly. DJI has another great drone here. Kudos to you and DJI 👏👍😎
I appreciate your review brother. Always enjoy your content. Your passion and enthusiasm is evident in your review. Can’t wait to get my hands on a mini 4 pro. Keep up the good work
The new DJI Mini 4 Pro seems to be a very full featured little drone. And I'm glad it landed safely on the Log, instead of going in the water. Great review, and thanks for sharing Billy.
What an exciting video. I thought I was anticipating this release, but you seem more happy than I am, and I'm a huge DJI fan. I've had every mini DJI drone and I agree it's amazing they upgrade every year while keeping the drone under 250 grams. I can't wait to get my new drone.
I'll also add, pointing out details like the landing assist light is super helpful. As I like sunset shots, landing in the dark is much safer and easier with that light assisting the flow sensors. That along with the new improved low light performance is worth the upgrade in my opinion. Add O4 link and the 360 OA, it's quite an upgrade.
Great content as usual, I remember back when DJI released the Mini2 I said that future Mini Drones would have all the features of the larger Drones and still remain under 249g and many people said that would be impossible WELL WELL WELL I wonder what they are saying now
Landed perfectly on the log. Now, that's a smart drone. Nearly all of my crashes were a result of sideways travel. I can see why you were in sport mode tracking a fast subject. I'm all about recovery. Arc Light XL and AirTag or SmartTag provides redundancy for the purpose. Thank you DJI for side sensors cuz I was using up my 9 lives.
The other benefit of the portrait mode is a manual pano allowing for a higher resolution merged pano image that i often use on my mirrorless camera landscapes. With that wide angle lens, you just have to ensure at least 50% overlap particularly with nearer foregrounds.
I've been inching my way towards a drone for about 6 months now, since I bought a new motorcycle and a insta 360 X3. My plan was to wait until cyber Monday and get the very best price that I could on a mini 3 pro. Then the first reviews starting popping up on the mini 4 pro a few days ago. As Billy points out here, the Mini 4 pro steps up the mini series game in a big way across all the important areas. It really brings the best of the maverick into the sub 250g category. I think it will be a hard drone to beat feature/price point wise for several years (if not more) to come. I had a reserve in at DJI since the option was available. Last night at 5PM PST, the button changed from "Reserve Now" to "Buy". Three minutes later I got the invoice in my inbox. It is a pretty big jump in price until you compare what you get to the maverick, and then it is a good buy. I think six months from now, it will be considered a great buy.
couple things. I'm upgrading not to the 4 but to the pro controller for more nits/apps/hdmi output. secondly, regarding skiing with the RC...I have a protective top cover that closes and protects the sticks so I can put the RC in my jacket without fear of the sticks being moved.
Great...Fast Billy I love it! Maybe a GPS attached to our lapel that would allow us to be tracked for a said amount of time then have it come to hover or many other options! It could be a small cost... to be able to loose the controller! They will come up with it. I hope!
Got mine today it flies fast and quite. I would say it's worth the cost the screen is bright and was smooth. Still learning the gadgets aspects. It did feel like the battery was hotter than normal.
Hang on Billy in the UK the range on the mini 3 pro wasn't very good with the smart controller that's one of the reasons why I got rid of that drone the other reason was it so frustrating that you need to make sure use wind is bad out to so let's hope the mini 4 is better it does look good so far but still love the air 2 s Great video Billy
Manipulating Active Track on controller while riding a motorcycle on a shelf road in Moab! I'm going to Moab next weekend solo to do Hurrah Pass/Chicken Corners in a modded Jeep figuring out how best to mount a GoPro on an active gimbal w/ remote (pan &.tilt) on the hood and Pocket 2 on a suction mount for the 45 degree side view, actively controlling a M3C while driving. I settled on a magnetic cup mount for the controller on the right hand, steering and gimbal remote in the left hand.
Love your videos Billy, Quick question: Are the props quick release type or do you still have to fiddle with microscopic screws and screwdrivers that are such a PITA.
18:24 I have sunshade cover, which when is closed, covers screen as well as the control sticks. It's a hard shell and gives extra protection when travelling. Highly recommend.
When I woke up yesterday I had no intention of replacing my fantastic 3, a few videos later and the 4 was ordered. 360 obstacle avoidance, improved signal and improved tracking were the exact 3 things I would have asked DJI for.
Great review as usual! In your experience, have you noticed any difference in range between the std controller and the smart controller? Is there enough difference between the mini3 pro and the 4 pro to justify the cost difference? As a long time DJI user I do like the smart controllers. The only time I use an iPhone/ipad now is for 3rd pty apps, which is becoming less of an issue as more functions are added to the Fly app and SDKs aren’t released.
Looks like the new upgrades are towards new dji drone operators, the video boost is mostly algorithms. And I get that, because it's reaching really close to the market of the Air series. I'll wait for the next release for proper upgrade reasons, the Mini 3 pro is more than enough for (semi)-professional use.
Hi Kyle....very helpful video as always...quick question....Canada has different drone laws much stricter than usa......since Mini 4 Pro is less than 249g, you dont need any permits to fly it in Canada? Please let me know. Thank You.
When you're talking about the video having "that look" to it, Id recommend bringing the sharpness and noise reduction to -2 as well as shooting in D-Log M. If you're only shooting in normal high contrasty colour and not adjusting the sharpness, the video will always have that look to it.
Just purchased. Upgrade from the Mini 2 (which is a great drone). I was going to upgrade to the Air 3 but did not want a larger and heavier drone. The Mini 4 Pro is perfect. Next, I need to find ND filters for it. Great review!

NOT ONE REVIEWER has mentioned "Positional Accuracy". As great as Mini 3 Pro is, it's Achilles Heel, affecting hyperlapse, lack of precision landing, and related issues. Returning to the precise starting position after a Mastershot/Quickshot, there is no precision landing, it just doesnt have that granular positioning that the prosumer/larger models have. This is influenced by the little guys susceptibility to wind, making it a difficult issue to engineer around; still, any improvement on this would be admirable and again show why DJI continues to lead.
Question can you use the DJI RC (from the mini 3 pro) with the Mini 4 Pro? Like if I get less range whatever but if I have to buy a new controller to upgrade then not worth it for me haha. Same batteries like the mini 3 pro too I assume

Hey Billy, how do you know the Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro use the same sensor? I've been curious about this sensor ever since the Air 3 dropped and suddenly we had a new buzzword - "stacked sensor". The sensor specs on the Mini 3/3Pro/4Pro and Air 3 are all identical as are their base capabilities - 1/1.3", 2.4 micron pixels (binned), dual-native ISO (native HDR), etc. In my mind it's all the same sensor. I suspect the two latest drones pull more out of it due to improved image processing. It's hard to find concrete information so I'm curious. Thanks!

Billy, do you think this new active track touch trace will be added to the Mavic 3 Pro and the Air 3? All things considered I think it’s reasonable to expect this feature on the more expensive DJI drones.
Disappointing that it's a mini 3. But that's what they did with mini 2, which was just a slightly updated mini. Hopefully they come out with mini 5 soon. A real update.
