Amir Muhammad, the film director, producer and founder of Kuman Pictures (produced multiple horror films/thrillers, including the Malaysian Academy Award entry "Roh"), the founder of the book publishing house Buku Fixi (published over 250 urban pulp fiction books since 2011), and partner at Da Huang Pictures (produced multiple award-winning films), shares what PENDATANG is.

Quite emotional n nervous watching it but actors n actresses were great.

To put it in a nutshell, the movie had a body with no head or tail. It portrayed a racial dystopian state without its condiments ie. a meaningful reason why (and how) it came to this situation, in which we see the drama played-out. It appeared to have been a production on a 'shoestring budget' - but, a good attempt.
Congratulations! Amir. I love this movie allot. All characters are well elaborated.

Never should we in multiracial Malaysia face such circumstances as the characters in Pendatang.
Is this the prediction of new era that those racist politicians like Dr M tries to create? A new country when racial discrimination are tolerated unlike Sabah and Sarawak. People from each ethnic are weak against prejudice

It remind me what happened to monday movies i watch. i know the story is different but the concept is similiar.. is about the law we going to face when we broke the law..
different this films so called pendatang will be make as racial and social statement about dilemma of being pendatang but we change it is to malay race to become 'pendatang'. . so what happened if malay is pendatang and the chinese family living here is bumiputera ... from what I see this from my point of view.. it's interesting and it really open minded concept...I dont know what is full story but the premise itself is engaging itself.
To me this is interesting, we have to look this movie from perspective from the word 'pendatang' itself . the history show that pendatang is beside the bumiputera and non bumiputera is really separate among us nowadays.. we live in multiracial country but in a way we malay still called chinese and indian as pendatang even though they live and born in malaysia but the fear and the word pendatang keep coming.and haunting them. we cannot let the word pendatang happen among us... if we malaysian, we are family should take care each other...so i see what good movie like pendatang will be make.. it have great message and statement to be heard from what I expect..
even I am malay myself never have problem if the movie about pendatang will be make from chinese director to make it as social statement about the dilemma of other races living in malaysia as Malaysian. he should give this movie a chance to be make. the voice and statement by malaysian among us must be heard..
but, the dillema we have here is.. when other races make movie about the statement about malay ...it sure be controversial and hard to accept by majority especially Malay.. this is ugly truth we have to accept this.. see what happen to the film like Lelaki Harapan dunia directed by other races become controversial among malay.. if the movie directed by mamat khalid the movie are no different. it same movie but different director from other races..
all the best to kuman pictures.. go ahead with the plan..dont change story and dont change the director..
Let's say we change storyline to malay family adopting pendatang so called chinese girl into their family. directed by malay director. the view of perspective will be different..the movie will be accept by majority.but the voice of real fear of racism and social statement cannot be heard...
we have to destroy the word 'pendatang' among us.. if we are malaysian born and living here in Malaysia.. we no longer pendatang...so the message of this movie must be heard for all Malaysian to see this..
