  • In the summer of 2016 I flew my Pilatus PC-12 from Denver to Oslo and back for a family vacation. Stops in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Goose Bay, Labrador and Newfoundland, Reykjavik, Iceland, Oslo, Norway (Rygge Airfield) and Narsarsuaq, Greenland.

      Such a cool experience. One of these days I’m going to do it again in the CJ3!

    I realize that it's a turbine, but no way I am taking my family on that flight. I'm sure you had a fab trip. And you're right about Greenland. On the few days that you can see it, it's breathtaking.

      I completely understand. Having more than one engine turning when you're out over blue water sure is a comfort. The girls opted for Icelandair on this trip.

    have you also written an article about this trip? I feel like I remember reading something similar. Great video! Edit: it looks like it is! Thats funny, it was your cj3 videos that brought me to your channel. Reminder how small of a world aviation is!

      Yes I did in fact, in Air Facts Journal

    Amazing trip! Were you a bit anxious once you left land and flew over the ocean?

    • @jetdad
      @jetdad  Год назад +2

      Certainly! The options become quite limited if something were to happen to the engine

      @@jetdad indeed but it shows your confidence in this great airplane and its engine. Amazing adventure!

    That's my kind of family outing! Any issues getting your insurance carrier to cover the crossing?

    • @jetdad
      @jetdad  2 года назад +3

      Actually no issues with insurance at all. All the PC-12's are made in Switzerland and are ferried over "green" for interior and paint in Colorado, so it seems like they are pretty used to these things over the water.

    How long did it take to get there from Denver to Oslo?

    • @jetdad
      @jetdad  2 года назад +4

      We overnighted in Goose Bay, and made it 2 days of flying Eastbound. About 8 hrs of flying from Denver to Goose Bay, then about 5 hrs from Goose Bay to Reykjavik and 3 hrs from Reykjavik to Oslo. Westbound we overnighted in Narsarsuaq Greenland.
