- This was a wild camp with an objective to 'bag' one of the few remaining Yorkshire Dales 2000 footers I still needed. A couple of things didn't go quite the way I'd hoped.....
Another great video Chris.
Glad you saw it through. Nice info on the wildflowers again... Thank you for sharing👍
Cheers pal. Yes, I'm glad I stuck it out too. It was very touch and go! 🙂
Park Fell, Simon Fell, and Chris's camera Fell. Great video Chris, those morning shots were fantastic. In my experience wild camping wouldn't be the same without a bit of misery. Helps us appreciate the home comforts when we get back. Thank you for sharing.
Hello Sean. You are right of course, I have been blessed with several memorable experiences on wild camps this year so I should expect to take the rough with the smooth. As much as I enjoy it, it does take a lot out of me and I need a day's recovery afterwards 🙄😀.
Love this tent
Cheers Ken. It has served me well. 🙂
Accidents do happen. Hope your camera survives without surgery. What a mix of conditions. Lovely sunrise.
Hello Michael. Accidents happen a lot with me as I can be a bit gormless sometimes! Touch wood, the camera seems to have survived!
Hi Chris! Well, the rain was a surprise, and not too fun, but you ended up with a lovely morning! Thanks for showing where you hiked on the map, that was really helpful since I don’t know the area at all. Loved seeing the pretty orchids! Wow, they’re really hiding in the grass… great find spotting them! Wouldn’t it be fun to explore that whole field! I hope you have great success in finding more wildflowers this season! 😉👌👍🌼🌼🌻🌻
Hello Jennifer. I was thrilled to finally catch up with the small white orchid....it has eluded me for years! Yes, I bet more hidden gems occur in that field. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
Another Cracking post Chris….I’m catching up on your history…lol. Those orchids were special, hopefully I’ll be baggin sum misen this season. Keep posting.
Thanks Ron 👍. If I hadn't been so clumsy and dropped my camera in the brook, for the orchid alone, this would've been one of my favourite camps of 2022. 🙂
Ingleborough is a funny sod. Had some dreadful weather one the plateau, drop down 50m and it's a lovely day.
One to consider carefully and always take quality kit.
It is a funny sod. I find if more unpredictable that the other two, never had a great day on it despite climbing it a fair few times.
Heyup champ!💥.
You've only had the vid up for 2 hours and we've luckily found it. Looking forward to viewing the rest of Sir Chris of the JB.'s . Exploits😆👍🙏
How do Fraser....hope you are well pal and that you enjoy the vid.....even though I grumble a fair bit on this one!
Fantastic camp Chris! Weather was a bit of a n*b like but hey ho.
The morning after was gorgeous 😊
Stay safe and well mate,
Adge.
Many thanks Adge....glad you liked it pal. 👍
Cracking video mate, fantastic sunrise. Hope the camera & sleeping pad are sorted easily & not too costly. Atb
How do Nathan and nice to hear from you. Touch wood, the camera recovered and S to S are dealing with my mat as I type!
Love your videos mate, and your in 1 of my favourite spots, I bet that sunrise was beautiful in the flesh
Many thanks Stu. Yep, the sunrise was great, especially after the weather and mishaps of the day before!
Brilliant video Chris. I’m so pleased that you woke up to the sun. Hope you’re camera isn’t too bad.
Cheers pal. Touch wood, I think it has recovered! 🙂
A little bit of everything...Good and bad...I am sure this is one that will linger fondly in the mind for years.
Deffo a mixed bag Steve but looking back, I enjoyed it really....I think? 🤔 🙂
Good video the great thing about walking is getting out even in wet weather then nice warm pub 😀 if people just invest in good gear last year's just found your channel 👍 👍
Hello Mark and thank you for the words of encouragement. Oh aye, I do like a good pub! Hope you like the channel. ATB, Chris
cool upload mate 👌 👍 L93
Many thanks 🙂
That were a mucky neet Chris. Horrible weather for June. Was up Pendle a fortnight back. Didn't get the spot I wanted as someone had bagged it so ended up on the Mearley side. Expecting to sleep in my undercrackers but glad I had the Merino.
I've never had good weather up Ingleborough but glad you persevered and was rewarded in the morning.
Tfs, atb, Paul
Aye, deffo a mixed bag Paul. Ingleborough always gives me grief.....not like Whernside and Penyghent who have always treated me well. Cheers for watching and commenting pal. 🙂
Great video Chris. I love your presenting style. Informative, funny and just a really good entertaining watch. 👍
Many thanks for the positive comment Alan. I still very much consider myself a bit of a numpty at this YT lark so your words offer me encouragement! Best wishes, Chris
Simply more magical scenes and that is all anyone can really say on the matter. As always (and this reflects badly on me) I enjoyed the 'shadenfreude' of your pained face enduring the rain and camera mishaps. The orchids were a real spectacle and no mistake.
I really was on the brink on this one Lee......so close to sacking it and going back to the car. Glad I didn't though, looking back it was a good trip. It really takes me back this area, to our little holidays away with Jingle Stick when we were lads.
loving the flowers chris great to see them thriving..lovely area up there in summer but shows just how quick the conditions can change..showed some metal there staying out in that many would have just legged it on back down to the car..proper wildcamper 😉
hope the camera pulls through yr not having much luck with that are you lol..tfs mate.
Ha ha! To be called a 'proper wild camper' by you Andy I take as a great compliment 👍👍! I do have a soft spot for that area as it was one of my first walking areas away from home as a lad. Touch wood, the camera seems to have survived the dunking. I moaned and groaned a bit on this one but looking back it was a good trip and as with any wild camp, a learning experience. Cheers, Chris
Watched a surprising number of your videos before realising we're from the same village! Great content, keep up the good work, and you never know, I might bump into you on the moors one day...
Hello Ken. Wow.....a small world! Thank you for the generous comment and if you do see me gadding about in the village or the local countryside, give me a shout 🙂. Best wishes, Chris
Clag, Rain, Toppled Camera's you had it all chris, if that's what Ingleborough does to you, remind me when you do Wild Boar to keep well away from you 🤣 Hope the camera is OK.
Ha ha! Yes indeed. Ingleborough always gives me grief George. WBF on the other hand is typically good to me! Touch wood, the camera seems to have recovered.
Evening Chris! Looking forward to this one, tea in hand, on the TV...here we go! 👍⛰️☕️🧐❤️
Thanks folks!
You will have to get some right gear for up thear. There's nowt werse than being wet and frozen. It was a nice walk you had up Yorkshire.
The weather was a bit rough for sure though I dried out in the tent.
Great hike. Lovely sunset and sunrise. Liked the time lapse. Nice views from the top. 👍
Thank you as always. Yes, the sunrise was a gift after the day before!
Lovely video my friend just found your channel glad I did I’m a new subscriber keep it up 👏
Very kind of you to say so. I hope you like some of the other stuff. 🙂
Eyup Chris, same night as my Great Whernside trip, it started off a really hot lovely day, was crap for Summer by evening, I listened to the radio all night and stayed in the tent n all so feel your pain, wasn't too cold but that wind and clag pfffft. Hope you got the camera sorted mate. The morning was a absolutely ace though. Love the flowers but no geology 😯. Good times and great film 🙂 TFS David
How do Dave. I did grumble a fair bit on this one but looking back it was a good trip really. Yes, the morning was spectacular and a good turnaround after the day before. Touch wood, the camera seems to have recovered which was a relief. Cheers, Chris
@@ChrisJB good to hear
Great video Chris. Never thought of going up that way up Ingleborough before. Certainly got me interested now. ATB Mate 👍
How do Steve and thanks. It was a new route for me too, but definitely recommended. 👍
@@ChrisJB Think an exploration is definitely on the cards 🥾👍
You couldn't have asked for a better start Chris. That Orchid sure was a fine slip of a flower. Shame about the camera mind you - they're never the same after being in water. I mean you can dry them out but you need a lot more warmth than what you had there. A clag filled finished. I reckon you should canll it the Yin Yang camp. Ha ha! A bit of light and dark. Good going mate. Mark
Deffo a Yin Yang trip Mark! Touch wood, the camera seems to have recovered which is a relief. Yes, the small white orchid was a real thrill. It is one I have been after for about 30 years. I moaned and groaned a bit on this one but looking back, it wasn't a bad trip really. Have a great birthday today. ATB, Chris
@@ChrisJB Yeah, it was much like that Chris. Good to hear about the camera and the Orchid. 30 Years - good going. Thanks mate. Peace.
Excellent video there Chris. Great route and well done with sticking with it in the poor weather in the late afternoon. The morning brightness made up for it! Cheers :) Warren
Many thanks Warren. Yes, it was a bit touch and go at times, I was very close to sacking it off and going back to the car!
I do enjoy watching your videos with quality filming. You certainly have plenty of energy climbing those hills. You must cover some mileage very quickly. That was some wind along your way. I know the feeling dropping media equipment into water. I did same with my mobile but managed to dry out after watching a few videos. The summit reminded me of our climb up. It was similar weather on top but lovely in the valleys. What a day you had!!
Hello Shanita. I suppose if I kept it up I would get some miles under my belt but I am a bit of a dawdler really.....there is usually something in the landscape that takes my attention and slows me down 🙂. I think I might've got away with my camera, it seems to be working again but only time will tell. I've never been very lucky with the weather on Ingleborough....unlike Penyghent and Whernside. 🌞
13:45 So cool 😎
Day 2 looked fantastic Chris (after what you'd had to put up with on Day 1). I've "used" Simon Fell to ascend Ingleborough a few times whilst doing The Three Peaks, the views over to Morecambe Bay (on a clear day) are far better than on the "normal" route.
I'd really like to do that trip again I think. With the 'moorgrime' I just wasn't really able to appreciate what Simon Fell has to offer. Thanks for watching and commenting pal.
It is a great feeling Chris, the best feeling! 👌 easy to get distracted as you hike, especially on such beautiful days! 🌞
Lovley to see the wind swept and Small White Orchid 🌸
Beautiful looking hiking so far, properly windy! Wow 🌬 🥚
Love this area and one we want to explore more. Hope your camera recovers OK 😬 good ole bowl of rice in the airring cupboard 👍
What have you done to upset Ingleborough, seems to enjoy tormenting you!
Liked the wallside camp site, extra protection from the elements, haven't had super noodles in ages! Love that this was a mystery camp to you too, let's see what you wake up to 🤗🏕⛰️
Hope S2S will sort your mat good and quick! Fingers crossed 🤞
Wow! Sunrise was summit special, was that Ingleborough saying sorry!? ⛰️❤️
Great to see the Y3Ps, been so long! 👌
Good luck with the camera, have a great weekend, Ceri and Kat ☕️ ❤️ 👍 🧭 🗺
Hello Ceri and Kat and thanks for your lovely comment. I think I might've dodged a bullet with the camera......it started working after drying out a couple of days. Hmm, me and Ingleborough have history....I've done it five times now and each time the weather has turned for the worse. Penyghent and Whernside however are old pals who have treated me well. The S to S mat is due back in the post tomorrow so fingers crossed. I have been impressed with how they have handled things so far though. Best wishes, Chris
Sorry Chris, but your doom was written in the stars when you started so chipper! The mist reminded me of getting lost on Ingleborough when on a scout camp being led by 2 young leaders , circa 1977.
Ingleborough and me have history Dave. It always throws something at me, whether crap weather or some other mishap. It's a confusing mountain too and I've found it baffling in poor visibility too.
sods law chris, some epic views though, atb ken.
Cheers Ken. A bit gutting at the time but I soon got over it.🙂
Great video as usual Chris, like other people have said your videos are always Informative.
Pity the weather turned a bit crap and the issue with the camera, hope you can get it repaired.
Kevin.
How do Kevin. Looking back it was a good camp really and so far I think the camera has recovered! Best wishes, Chris
Hi Chris. Hope the camera survived its ordeal👍 I've not done Ingleborough yet, but recognise the weather from the other two! 😁 At least you got a great sunrise👍 Great video! ATB👍👍
Thanks Des. Touch wood, I think the camera has recovered. Because I always get rough conditions on Ingleborough it is definitely my least favourite of the three!
Well that looked like a mixed bag Chris,
Firstly, I have just got some of them lightweight gaiters for running, they are excellent, also from the mist you encountered on your way up is quite common on ingleborough, there use to be loads of people in the days before GPS who walked the wrong way off the summit of ingleborough, it’s always disappointing when you don’t get the views, lovely sun rise though, hope the camera survived. Still looked like a good camp.
All the best, Tito 😊
How do Tito. I use those lightweight gaiters too....I wouldn't be without them. Ingleborough is a mountain that has always given me a hard time and I do find the summit plateau quite confusing when there is no visibility. Touch wood the camera seems to have recovered which is a relief. Looking back it was a good trip and like any wild camp, I learned something from the experience. Best wishes, Chris
@@ChrisJB we always learn something, glad you still enjoyed it 😊
Nice one Chris. Shame on the rain and cloud but still great to get out for a camp. Always seems to be blowing a bit when I visit the dales so I’m glad it’s not just me! Cracking vid. Look forward to the next one. 👍
Nice to hear from you Mark and thanks. Unfortunately, me and Ingleborough have form, it always seems to bash me with rubbish weather! ATB, Chris
that sunrise was a worthy reward to sticking it out Chris, another good video! went up that route one sodden afternoon, the traipse up to park fell was like climbing a ski jump
Thank you. Yes, in the end I'm glad I stuck it out.....I was a whisker away from going home!
I enjoyed you 'taking me along' to my beloved Dales, Chris - what a challenging walk / camp. I do hope your camera will be ok. 🙏
Hello Andee (checked the auto-correct this time 🙂). Touch wood the camera seems to be okay but time will tell! Best wishes, Chris
@@ChrisJB fingers crossed, touch wood! 🤞🙏
Lovely walk that Chris! One I've done a few times, but not for a while. Good to be reminded
Shame the weather wasn't great
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Alistair 👍
Hello Alistair. I shouldn't grumble really, I've had some great camps this year. It did have some good bits 🙂. Thanks as always for your continued support. ATB, Chris
Evening Chris,
Saved for later, still at work 😕
No probs mate.
Brill video Chris, I hope your camera is okay mate. I remember seeing the Heath-spotted orchid whilst I was in Scotland last year with my Dad, it’s a lovely looking flower. Where has the summer gone by the way?😅 Pleased you got a nice sunrise anyways, beautiful colours and a lovely morning. Cheers mate😄👍🏻
Hello Mark and thanks for the generous comment. I think I may've dodged a bullet with the camera.....I think it has survived my clumsiness 🙄🙂. Yep, summer is flying by.....the days are shortening already 😭. ATB, Chris
What a great video Chris, certainly had everything and unexpected too. I was thinking how good the camera footage was so I do hope you get that sorted. What a bugger.
I have walked by the lower slopes on the Dales Highway and of course done Ingleborogh a few times.
I'm still worried about my knee its going to be a long recovery if ever. Doi g some cycling though and plenty other stuff but really missing the hill walking.
Kind regards.
🙏🍻👍
Thanks Dave. Touch wood, the camera appears to have dried out and survived 🙏. Ingleborough is a mountain that always seems to let me down with the weather, whereas Penyghent and Whernside have always been kind to me. I hope the knee heals soon mate. I've had similar trouble in the past and I'm not sure if the situation is similar to yours but I got a bit over-reliant on knee supports and I found they slowed my recovery. I found swimming to help too, being low impact. Best wishes, Chris
I love your knowledge Chris im pretty useless when it comes to identifying flowers I do like to see the colours. As you say a mixed bag of a hike but a great camp all the same hope the camera survived I remember when i dropped mine on a hike smashing the lens completely really puts a downer on the hike 🤣 atb daz
How do Daz. I am a bit of a numbskull at times and don't take as much care of my gear as I should. Touch wood it seems to have recovered.....smashing a lens sounds horrendous! ATB, Chris
@@ChrisJB things we do eh yes cost a bit to replace im more a gopro man now they are pretty robust 😉😎
@@dazbass007 I know what you mean....for a gormless sod like me the GoPro is definitely the best. This is why I won't get a drone....I'd crash it or lose it on it's first flight!
@@ChrisJB I know what you mean ive got a drone use now and again on my vids never let it out of my sight the new mavic 3 has avoidance sensors which will be useful 😉
Good film Chris, hope the camera is OK !
Cheers Grant. Thankfully the camera seems okay!
Bloody hell Chris , it was one of those camps where you could have threw the towel in an just went yam. I have had them were things keep going wrong 😂 still you battled on as the weather turned on you and then the camera in the stream arrrghh . I recognised plenty of those summits from passing on the train and it just makes me want to tackle them now . Any news on the camera then ?
Still you managed a decent camp tucked behind a wall ⛺️👍 atb Dave
How do Dave. I really was a whisker away from just heading home. Ingleborough is a bleedin' nightmare for me....every time I do it either the weather is crap or something bad happens 🙄. Touch wood, the camera seems to have recovered which is a big relief. I did come across as a bit of a grumpy sod on this one but looking back now it wasn't bad really. 🙂
Great video Chris, as ever. Bad luck with your camera, hope it's okay. Maybe drying out with a hairdryer will do the trick. I'm watching this one while camped at Nine Standards Rigg and was on Wild Boar Fell a few weeks ago, camped at Sand Tarn. 😁 All the best.
Oh Lee....jealous mate🙂 . I had a tremendous camp on NSR in April but somehow managed to lose all my film footage! WBF is deffo on my wild camp to do list. I love that area. Cheers, Chris
I really want to visit there
You would like it. 🙂
Hello, nice to meet you today, I found your channel from a comment you left on another channel, I am a new subscriber today, thank you :)
Hello Sandra and thanks for subscribing. I hope you like what you see 🙂. I've just had a quick look at your channel and saw lots of wildlife related things which I like and have returned the sub'. Best wishes, Chris
@@ChrisJB Thank you so much Chris, I love watching videos from other countries. A wonderful way to travel seeing real folks lives in beautiful surroundings. :)
Hi Chris great vids, recent sub. Can I ask what is the cam /audio kit? And what tent is that/weight?? Cheers
Hello Sean and thanks for the sub'. My tent here is a Tarptent Notch at around 850g I think. For filming I use both a GoPro Hero 10 and a Sony ZV1 if the weather is decent. I normally use the built in audio of these but will sometimes use a Rode Wireless Go mic' if I'm talking away from the camera. 👍
Hallo🔔❤ Guten Abend👍super Video👍🔔wünschen dir eine schöne Woche, bleib gesund, see you later. Liebe Grüße Siggi und Marianne 💖Frieden💖
Many thanks Siegfried. Glad you liked it. 😉
Have you ever been approached by a farmer out wild camping? As long as there's no livestock, I wouldnt think they'd be bothered.
Hello Orb. I haven't no. I do choose my pitches carefully though, well away from civilisation, I am respectful and never leave any trace. 🙂
What make and model is that backpack you use?
It's an Atom Packs Mo 50L mate.
Hi Chris. What pack do you use?
Hwllo Steve. It's an Atom Packs Mo....50 litres. 👍
Don't be nocking that wall down. Sheep 🐑 are bad inuff going through them gap's.
Don't you worry Henry....no damage to the wall from me pal. 😉
@@ChrisJB I know you are very careful and leave things nice and tidy and clean. But there's a lot of people don't care. I know as a Waller I have picked old carrier bags up that have been stuffed in a crack in a wall. They fetched it with um. It's as easy to take it home.
@@henrymichaelwilson8107 It is Henry. I hate litter.
@@ChrisJB there's some mucky farmers as well. Leaving old till bags down dike's and chucked under a headge.
