Thank you. I find it interesting what the story behind the art is. This something different from most of the statues we've covered the last few years in DC. We don't often cover a monument to an athlete.
Interesting that this is the same artist as the FDR statue. It's a beautiful piece. and looks gigantic compared to some of the people who were right up next to it in the background. It's easy to forget the details surrounding Joe Louis' fame and what made it all the more important beyond the titles. I'm sure it must make filming a bit challenging, but it's nice to see that this statue is well attended and well loved. I hope you and Bev are having a good weekend and not seeing more snow than us so far(we have stuff that's stuck around for 2 days now and more coming tomorrow through Tuesday- hope if you're out filming, you're both staying warm!! :D
Well, we haven{t been filming this weekend, thus far, because we{re just feeling lazy. There are several inches of snow sitting here, and it been around since Tuesday evening. The folks in the background didn{t really bother me. I've been doing this so long now it is sort of just part of the deal.
Well, we didn't shoot there on this particular trip. so I guess the answer is not immediately. I did take Bev to dinner in Greektown while we were there, and it was fantastic, but we opted to turn the camera off and have it to ourselves. But in the future it is very likely.
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it.
That monument is worth to see
I agree! Thanks.
Interesting history nugget!

Great video )) History is awesome. I certainly did "not see" this coming ;)
Thank you Jeff. WE hadn't been in downtown Detroit in quite some time, so it was a great day. Still lots of things there I want to cover, in time.
In Detroit there is a Joe Louis Arena.
Yes.

Anything coming on Greektown or Trappers Alley? Had some great times there in the 90s. I sure have fond memories of the old Tiger Stadium too.
