"Have you ever invested over $10.000 on an artistic project and needed to double the money?" One of the best questions you can ask yourself. Top advice.
I love these videos, I rewatch them every few months or so, but they always make me feel like I'm wasting not just my time but everyone else's time by trying to make this a career for me. And I KNOW the immediate response to that will be "If you feel that way, then this line of work isn't for you." But I want it to be. I'm just 27 and tired
i love how your videos can be informative in a general artistic sense. i am not working as a VA but can take tips from any of these videos and apply them to my own craft. the mark of actually having shit to say. thank you.
It's actually wild to see one of my old tweets on this! Hahaha it's a cool look back at discussions back then. Definitely appreciate the videos you've made for actors everywhere, offering a splash of truth in a market riddled with exaggeration. Your VO lessons are definitely a gold mine to this day.
As someone tryna rap on top of producing I’m just trying to get that crisp audio quality in my recordings. I guess I’m also trying to voice act, but only for my own animated shorts, so his business advice is only entertainment for me
I was watching CDawgVA's channel about a year ago when someone on one of his videos asked for advice on getting started with voice acting. Connor had some videos on the subject himself...and while I linked one or two of his videos to the person, the audio quality ironically wasn't great (these were older videos where he knew his stuff but hadn't amassed the success he has now to fully implement it. His audio quality now is amazing). To make things more concise, I just linked them to your playlist on the topic, lol. It also broke my heart a bit but made me happy that I could set realistic expectations for a friend who had informed he was curious to try out voice acting for smaller projects. I asked if he had a mic...and he said he had the snowball Yeti 🤦🏾♀️. He ended up being another one I linked your videos to, but told him the short answer was that the USB mic wasn't even remotely close to a good option. I learned a lot from that series and I don't even want to voice act! And I'm happy for your handy playlist because when in doubt, I'd rather they hear it right from your mouth. By the way, I think one of the videos on that playlist was removed. If it was for copyright reasons or incorrect information, is there any chance of having it added back again?
I watched the original back in 2018 and grew a lot from that video. As of now in April 2021 after doing it for some time and during COVID19 I'm glad he made this video because it's ALWAYS good to be reminded of the basics no matter where you are in your VO career.
Think I know what you mean. "Mouth noises" is a word for it. Look up ways to avoid it, because there's a lot of methods, BUT I suggest you stay hydrated and don't record if you've eaten within an hour.
- Your mouth should be "open" open. - Try not closing your mouth when you finish speaking. - Drink room-temperature water. Not cold or hot. - Practice stretching your mouth open often.
Holy shit I'm so glad I checked the channel on a whim. Your video series basically have gotten me roles and guided me towards my current setup. I hope to take a seminar at some point soon
It's been a while since I took a break from voice over due to personal reasons, but I come back to this video because it's still very useful for other sections of the entertainment industry, though focused on voice acting
Your videos are helping me so much! Thank you! I'm trying really hard to practice and learn a lot before auditioning for projects. I know I won't be perfect when I start, I definitely won't have the equipment needed yet, but I'm beginning to feel more and more prepared.
This was a great series. Really enjoyed it. Not trying to be a voice actor but I needed a good mic and advice about equipment. Also, fucking love yugi coin, would love if you did more projects like that.
Re: COVID, you should watch the Castlevania Netflix show. In a later season there's one character who you can almost immediately tell is recording from home with a not-so-hot setup.
Originally launched at $300, it was a steal at $100 for a period about a year ago. There's plenty of reviews on RUclips from respected VAs and mic reviewers already. It's no longer available in some places.
Could someone add subtitles to this? Because for people whose mother tonge isn't english (like me), sometimes it's hard to understand what he's saying due to how fast he talks. This video is awesome, and It's a shame that some segments are so hard to understand to me that all I can do is replay them again and again in order to try decypher what he's saying :(
lmao imagine being fluent in english but not having the accent down..in my country we got like 5 voice actors for everything and they are cast by the state station...

Shows Neat King Bee: "I would never spend money on this goofy ass mic" Why not? It's vastly superior to the AT2020 also shown in this video. Is it because of how it looks?
