Most of the history is influenced by the historian's mood behavior situations and memory (rulers of the times have a good deal of paid and oppressed employees if not all).
If you want to understand these two people chanakya and buddha you'll have to understand the difference between knowledge and responsibility, chanakya teaches the importance of a life goal and responsibility and other ways to deal with the priorities, buddha teaches the truth of life in this world and the final goal after this life , Buddhism and Hinduism was able to compete under chanakya's administration because they were allowed and if you need more convincing then you know very well who destroyed these ancient orders and religions, it was none other than the central Asian invaders, in ancient India both of the sanatanic religions were treated alike infact they are same in a way that a person can follow both of the religions in during his lifetime However in Hinduism its called sanyas and people above the age limit of working population are able to practice it , we should always try to learn new things and about great people so that we can learn their pros and relate our cons with theirs and try to get over it.
Ashoka was so overrated,he ran an empire on feelings with almost no realism,Buddhism was what Protestantism was in late medieval Europe,a religion that sought to disturb society with its emphasize on individualism and egalitarianism and even if that's not what the Buddha wanted(same with Luther)that's what most Buddhists concluded,no matter what you might think of guys like Chanakya at the end of the day he ran society with order, economy and family in mind and not some pie in the sky idealism.

@@szoom6066 woman's are worshipped in indic religions and yajurveda also mentioned a woman warrior and first woman's school was not established by any savitri phule who sleep with british
Interestingly Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal makes the exactly opposite arguments. According to him, Kautilyan state was a short but strong state which discouraged interfering with morality and hence did not impose any world view on its citizens. This created a robust and efficient state mechanism which knew the limits of an overreaching state. But Ashoka after he came to power turned Mauryan state into an all pervasive but weak state by introducing moral policing through the imperial beaurocracy of Dhamma Mahamatras. Active interference in the lives of people started with policies like banning hunting and enforcing a strict moral code. Corruption became rampant and state finances collapsed due to the beaurocracy of Dhamma Mahamatras. And the empire eventually collapsed after the death of Ashoka. One can compare this to a secular and efficient state turning towards theocracy or the excess of powers used by Indira Gandhi through her socialist policies which ultimately led to a stagnation of economy and rampant corruption. I personally find similarities between the historical character of Aurangzeb and Ashoka also. Both were excellent warriors in their own right. Both were appointed to quell rebellions in the empire before they became emperor's. Both faught a civil war against their brothers to usurp the throne. Both of them used religion for their political aims. Both tried to impose their worldview on society (one with Dhamma Mahamatras and other with strict I$@mic laws). Both persecuted groups of people belonging to different sects (Aurangzeb the Hindus and Sikhs and Ashoka the jains and Ajivika). Both controlled large part of Indian Subcontinent. Both ruled for a really long period. The empire started to crumble during their lifetime and survived only around half a century long after their deaths. There are just too many parallels.

First, NON INTERFERENCE path into others affairs is GOLDEN way to comprehend THAT BUDDHA WANTED to understand, before even a KRISHNA can be truly adapted. But as I said, people have difficulty to understand this, especially because HINDUISM is taken as ORGANISED religion and not as Spiritual science. Thats why i said is comprehensible ONLY ACCORDING ro ones abilities and Will to understand Transparently, and thats why I said Non-violence neednot be first CRITERION, as Violence lies in the mind more than in the act alone. But UPEKSHA or Non-interference has to be practiced, if it makes SENSE to that persons conscience only. Very nice neo-buddhism. I see you have put small bits of Muller's racism in there too. And a little bit of Romila Thapar's "HISTORY".
A fine blende.
Most of the history is influenced by the historian's mood behavior situations and memory (rulers of the times have a good deal of paid and oppressed employees if not all).
This state should have ruled Indian subcontinent forvat least 500 years.
It collapsed due to Ashokan Pacifism.
Chanakya = responsibility benefit for the community , better life with equal opportunity for all
Buddha = the true knowledge, and final goal of an individual person , nirvana

But brother Sanyal's views on Ashoka is not deeply analyzed just like the video creater's.
Was expecting a mention of Chandragupta and his ascetism in Jainism in his latter years. Considering Ashoka was mentioned here, could have mentioned Chandragupta Maurya as well, since his mentor was Chanakya.

Chanakya was also against Hindu ascetics. Infact, Buddhism and Hinduism as separate religions is relatively a new way of looking at things. They were all just sampradayas.
