OH MY!! The very first Garden Answer video I’ve ever seen was about 5 or 6 years ago! It was Aaron on camera saying that he bets Laura is coming home with a bunch of plants!!! Then he runs to the car and Laura by the trunk shocked she’s being filmed and sure enough, she has a bunch of house plants inside her trunk! It was so cute and I’ve been watching ever since!!!
Same here. When she mentioned the 3 urn challenge, I was like omg and then I recalled that urn being in a water feature she created in a pot as well back then.
I Rembrandt that Vedic! So cute for sure. I started watching her channel just a few before that one. Hasn’t she come a long way from that camera shy (somewhat uncomfortable) young woman back then! So is adorable & such a beautiful family.
Hi Laura! For that beautiful fern, you can add pebbles to the saucer and keep water in the saucer. It will create humidity for that plant so it doesn't overheat. Beautiful collection!
Hey you two! What a great trip to the island and filming with Jack in the gardens.👌 In this QnA video you mentioned stacked stones/and later a bridge…the picture came together of the stacked stones on either side of bridge and at both ends leading up the incline to the bridge🤔‼️ could that work for you both. We love your tours, seeing the way Benjamin is growing so fast and small glimpses of the Princess 🥰… and love the way the south Garden is taking on your imaginative designs. We are fans❤👌
Beautiful choices on the potting. You have an awesome eye on matching plant to pot. I should of been watching you a long time ago. I want your greenhouse soooo bad. BEAUTIFUL 😍
I could watch you repotting plants all day long! It takes me to a calm peaceful place. And then seeing them all in the Hartley….Oh my goodness! I love it! Once again you bring so much positivity, creativity and beauty into the beginning of my day. Thanks Laura 💕
I enjoyed watching you transplant all the new houseplants. You have such a good eye for color and design, you instantly knew the plant needed a grey pot and not a terra pot. What a difference the grey pot made!! Everything looks so pretty, Laura. I love houseplants so much. I also like the way the big fern looks on the center table in the Hartley. Just gorgeous.💖
Love, LOVE every one of these. I have a big collection of house plants but I keep them on a mostly covered patio with lots of misting happening. Have so many I can't keep up with them all but would bring home every one of these home in a heartbeat! 🥰 And they look fabulous in the Hartley!
Would you ever do a house tour showing where you put all your plants indoors? I have kids about the same age as yours and how do you keep your toddlers from getting to your plants? I have all my house plants on shelves to keep them out of curious little hands, would just love to see your layout 😀. -Cara
@@krisbaker9427 We definitely do, but unfortunately my crawling baby does quite listen to directions just yet, so lots of plants get “toddler love”. 😂 I was just curious to see if Laura has most of her house plant on shelves or elevated on tables, it’d be fun to see how she organizes hers in her home.
A hanging pitcher plant (nepenthes graciliflora is hardier) would look amazing in the glass house! Theres enough light for it to produce perfect pitchers.
love the houseplant haul.. instead of the wood table get another plant stand like the other one so not everything on the wall wont be in direct sun. the inside of the Hartley is amazing.
That table is too pretty to subject to the damaging sun. Move it into the flower shed for its own protection. Another plant stand like the black one would be the perfect mirror image for the Hartley.
I've been focusing on houseplants lately, too. As the weather changes I know it will be so good to have this beauty indoors, keeping me busy and admiring their growth. Plants really do change lives. Love your enthusiasm 💚💖💚
Hi Laura and Aaron! Those are some really pretty houseplants. It looks like I need to make a trip over to Andrews, but then I'd be broke. LOL! The begonia looks really good n the gray pot. They all look good planted up and out in the Hartley. I agree with others that you need another lattice plant stand to put where the table is. It would look so much better, and it would save your table from being ruined. Also, more plants would be out of the sun. Thank you so much for sharing!
When you pulled the Crocodilis (crocodile fern) out I immediately thought the middle table in the Hartley wld be the perfect spot and when you placed it I was tickled pinked. I live in the tablelands of far north Queensland (Australia) and have one that sits on our shaded verandah - they do grow big, are very hardy (0 to 40 degrees Celsius here), definitely prefers indirect light but will take direct light if hardened off but loses colour. Your silver dragon will act very much like a black velvet over winter - hates wet feet, dormant and die off in winter - of all our alocasia seems to be least affected by spider mite (probably because the leaves are so much tougher). The sin-go-nium will trail - I have a butterfly (very similar - bit more white in the verigation) I just curl it back over the soil and pin it at a node and it roots in. Lovely selection you are collecting. ❤️
Love all the beautiful houseplants! I’ve been inspired to do some repotting today 🪴 Also… when Laura is discussing how much she loves the new lattice plant stand and says “I don’t have enough plants to put on it”… I almost spit out my coffee! 🤣 Love it!! ❤️
The triple urn challenge was one of my favorites 'back in the day'! Do you have any calatheas? Those are some of my favorite house plants, even though I'm struggling to keep mine happy. I'm loving the variety of content this week!
How exciting to find such unusual & healthy looking plants. My faves are the Crocodile fern and the Pepperonia bubble leaf. All your new plants are wonderful. It is amazing all the new varieties that are grown these days. I can only hope I come across a few new plants that look as great as yours do. I love begonias in any form. Good luck at keeping all your new finds happy & healthy.
I'm up here visiting Northern Michigan now. Currently near Traverse City (fairly close to Mackinaw) and it's a beautiful low 70's here currently with a gentle rain. Love this place.
It’s hot there but I’m in Sacramento Ca and we have 110 for four straight days and over 100 before and after! Grrrrrr! Everything is burning . I should own stock in shade cloth!🌻🥺🌵🌞🔥
Perfect pot for that pink, burgundy, silver specked begonia❣️That’s one & also the fragrant one, I’d like to try. What about a voile folding screen to put up behind the table kind of like those dressing screens from the Victorian era. It should be easy to make. You could even cover the voile with clear plastic so they could be wipe off after storage.
Hi Laura thank you for showing us your new indoor plants these house plants are at home here on the mid north coast of Australia as it’s a temperate climate and we fill our homes and a lot of them in our gardens you have a very good range there 🫶🏻Karen from port Macquarie NSW Australia 🥰🦇🐨🦘🐳🌊🇦🇺
I wonder if rosemary topiaries would take the heat on that south side table in the Hartley? It would be easy to keep them clipped to their shapes. Maybe a gnarled bonsai olive or fragrant bonsai eucalyptus on the tabletop would provide enough shade for other plants below while providing a larger central focal point on the table. (Apparently the Russian Olives that grow all over your area can also be bonsaid as mentioned on Bonsai Nut website!)
I must find a Rex Begonia that color! Stunning. Grey pot for the win! I have a split leaf monster Philodendron thatbis over 6' across and about 4' high..I need to build on to the house to keep him!
Yes, your little parsley looking plant is an Aralia. We call ours the little parsley plant too. 🥰. And I've usually heard syngonium pronounced with the "g" like the "g" in gold.
The diver Dragons are beautiful I seen this around, I have the red rexBegonia , so beautiful! , mine growing well in a small container so far but I took advice on the Rex begonias water less I judge from the top off soil! Thank you. 🙂 They are doing well. I did post them on proven winners!
I dont know the name of that cloudy looking fern, but growing up in Kenya, it was a shade loving fern that grew just like hostas in your garden. Humidity was always around 80% with occasional rain showers. So, when I saw them in Europe, people had them in terrariums, but... the leaves or strands should not touch the glass if there is condensation on the inside. That will make them rot. Sorry to describe what I know about this fern in such a roundabout way, but I wanted to bring up the rotting situation when in a terrarium that has condensation. If enough airflow can be provided, that may help to avoid rot. Beautiful plants and welcome back 🥰 PS: if the fern doesn't get enough humidity, the little leaves (for lack of a better term) will turn yellow and fall off, just like the needles of a drying up Christmas Tree
@@Sisteryoda1440 😃you're welcome! I love seeing them around in the garden centres here in Spain, but... yeah, I have no way of keeping them alive with the dry climate I have. I really hope that you get to grow yourself a beautiful specimen, from now on 😃
Im interested in the gorgeous begonia it would do well inside my home with low light and the color is gorgeous! On the hunt ! You give all of us non houseplant growers encouragement! Thanks!
SILVER DRAGON - Hey Laura! The silver dragon alocasia is not a difficult one to grow if you can meet its humidity requirements to prevent browning edges. They also want a very fast draining soil that is allowed to dry nearly completely between waterings. Treat them as though they are a succulent that likes high humidity. They also benefit from a little lime in the soil (I use Espomas garden lime) since these guys inhabit limestone rich rocky areas as an understory plant in their native habitat. They also pup readily and abundantly when happy! So you'll get lots of little babies below. The scientific name is Alocasia baginda.
I'm a big birds nest plant fan. Have many different varieties including the crocodile 🐊. I've had it for years. It's in my shade cloth greenhouse. Sarasota FL 9b. Loves its location. Thanks for a fun change in today's video. Stay 😎 🆒️
That 3-tiered wicker shelf under the counter could be turned sideways and moved below the sink to camouflage the plumbing maybe? Wonderful work you're doing, Laura!
Just my opinion. But I think you should move the plants on the sink over to the tiered table. I think the begonia rex is so special that it should be moved off the lattice table to a place by itself. Either the end of the counter or the middle of the round table. It looks so elegant in that glazed grey pot.
Parisian Farm Girl did a video using paint to make visible plumbing look vintage. I think it was called Faux Antique Plumbing! I'll be interested in seeing what you do with the Hartley sink. The greenhouse is gorgeous!
What a haul! The Syn-GO-nuim will need bright light to keep and add variegation as well as pruning green leaves. You were right to call the vines runners on Cissus, they will attach and grow up a trellis. Closer related to grapes than begonias. They are so pretty. Croc ferns are allot like bird's nest. I find the care the same here. Can't wait to see fairy gardens!!!
I work in a small garden center in southern IN. We had the cotton candy fern this year for the first time. You will love it! I have a crocodile fern that is about 4 feet in diameter. It is so easy to care for.
In the sunnier area you can plant tropical things that aren’t conventionally house plants. For example coleus, celosia, African lilies, marigolds, sweet alyssum, Pentax, etc. You could grow moat annuals in that space. Word of caution thought. Many hybrid annuals are not suited to live heat round. Like a supertunia likely won’t do great long term, but a seed petunia may do better despite it being a less god annual.
Hi Laura, a tip for those that have a multitude of houseplants. I take small white garden markers and color code according to needs. Blue mark indicates plant needs frequent watering, leave white for nowatering. (or omit the marker) and red dot for plants that like to dry out between waterings.
Consider Purchasing A Second 'Lattice Plant Stand Set' From Gardeners Supply Company, Rather Than Using The Antique Table. Symmetry Will Compliment The Interior, And Its Design Will Give You More Space For Plants. In Addition, The Tiered Effect Of The Stand, Will Allow The Brick Wall To Shade The Plants In That Location, And You Likely Wouldn't Have To Fashion Another Shade.
It breaks my heart to see that antique table getting ruined! I would use it as a dining table! Or at least put a glass top to protect it....well that might break though.
I agree with your suggestion, symmetry would definitely up the entire look. While beautiful, the table now just looks out of place. Maybe it could find a home in the cut flower shed rather!
👋🌞Good Friday morning, again, Laura (Aaron too, if you are the cameraman in this video)! WOWWW, what a nice variety of houseplants you hauled; some of which I have never seen, either! I would have killed that adorable delicate-looking cotton candy fern, before I even got it to my house. I tend to agree with you, it should either be cloched up or in a terrarium for the extra humidity it is going to require. Yessssss, that gray pot looks much better than the terra cotta one for that begonia!!!! Oooooh, I was so excited to see your tiered plant shelf in the Hartley; it sure is a beauty!!! All of the plants look great in the Hartley! Wishing them luck for the repotting and transition to the heat in the Hartley. Have a Blessed and Beautiful day/night/weekend 🌞/🌜✨️⭐️🌟⭐️✨️ 🌐 everyone! I found out about plants and flowers which I learned from proven winners ! When the mercury is low less water and also the smaller the plants! And I did this and it worked for me ( Thank you) in the Sumer when they get and overhead, then you can water through! 🙂👍when the mercury is up!
You make me want to go out and buy houseplants💚🌿 I’m usually not a houseplant girl because of the gnats and I usually kill them! Too much love(💧) I think 😆 The Hartley is looking awesome 😍 I would want to be out there all the time❤️
I normally kill all my houseplants but I really want to up my houseplant game. Just bought some leaf shine and Epsom fertilizer. I love terracotta. I love the patina they get overtime. Just replanted a pothos in a brand new terracotta pot- can't believe how clean it looks
SUGGESTION!!: not that you need it because your amazing. But it would be an awesome video if you showcase all the different plants that look good after they bloom. I have a little over a 1/2 acre of perennials and I adore my plants that I don’t have to cut back lol. Ie penstemon, huechera etc… Thank you for all the hard work you and Aaron do. You guys have been such an inspiration to me!
Ok........some people say Mackinaw Island, but some say Mackinac Island........which one is it? 😍 The grey pot was much better! Loved that triple urn challenge.....you are SO creative!!
I have an alligator fern. I put it outside for the summer in an urn. Put trailing succulents around the edge, I used string of pearls and string of bananas. I have it under an old Redbud so it gets dabbled sun
Have you tried any of the self watering wick system pots for your houseplants? I have bought a few over the past year. The plastic pot has a cotton like wick attached that can sit in a decorative pot that you place water in. (Kind of like an aqua pot , but on a smaller scale)The plants seems to take what they need and look great! Thank you for the lovely video. A visit to the Hartley is such a peaceful way to spend some time. Thanks for sharing!
Cotton Candy may act like ~ asparagus fern. Mine grows well with little water in a small open bedroom closet. Quiet area, little daily traffic. I put a 2 gallon grow bag under Aspect light (7 hours), ...potted with organic mushroom compost ~and perlite to lighten up humidity, to drain well. The grow bag is huge so I put a terrarium driftwood piece with living cattleya sitting in it. "Cider barrel" shape log holds humidity, ~ usually sold for gerbils with hole on top and open on the ends. Maybe ebay sells them. About 5 inches diameter. ...fern likes damp wood imo that slowly release water...can give little attention, does well in hideaway corner with another plant neighbor... like an orchid...to attract attention... to remind you to pour generous water (helps if good draining soil with felt container)...to live beside. 🐁🌲
They all look so beautiful. This winter they are going to make y'all and all of us smile and happy to see all the beautiful house plants. It looks beautiful.❤️❤️❤️
That maroon rex begonia is just gorgeous. All the plants are gorgeous. I tried a rex begonia last year but no luck. Died in 6 months 😔 oh well. Maybe I will try again in a different pot. Don't think it was draining well enough. Also I LOVED the Triple Urn Challenge.

Oh wow. “The urn” is back! That’s a blast from the past. Nice to see it back in action. :) I’m loving the houseplants. I’m not a fan (too distracted to care for then properly) but gosh, this makes me want to buy some. LOL
Hi Laura the last plant you showed isn't a Philo it's a monstera deliciosa. Wasn't sure if you misspoke or didn't know. The plant you had trouble pronouncing is a syn-go-ni-um. Love the vids. Would love an indoor house plant tour when you're able. Have a good day. 🙂
I love when you do house plant videos, just the other day I bought an Alocasia amazonica and a Dracaena in a supermaket, I'm getting kind of obsessed with house plants😅 There are so many leaf textures and colors in house plants, and also a lot of variegated ones I just loveee. Your house plant haul is amazing !! All the plants look so pretty!!! 🪴🌿☘
I only have the house when I have to bring my Cissus discolor inside for winter (here in Ohio). No matter what I do, it fades and ends up looking completely dead! FYI, it also forms what look like pimples or galls on the leaves, but it’s something that plant forms naturally. BUT, when I get it back outside, it becomes beautiful again! The sun shines thru the red backs of the leaves and it vines all over! Wish I could show you a photo! I’m sure it will do better in the greenhouse or Hartley.

*normal watering. not nowatering
@@camicri4263 yes, unfortunately the glass will get very hot too and bake the table surface. I learned that the hard way! 🤨
@@peggy-ann1961 yes, for the moment I forgot that the table is in the Hartley!

Love the plants and the Hartley. Have you thought about a small water feature in the Hartley. The humidity and sound would be really fun.😁
Beautiful assortment!
I love the Rex vines! It may sound silly but the only place I could keep fern alive was in the bathroom. They seem to like the steam from the shower.
Ie penstemon, huechera etc…
Thank you for all the hard work you and Aaron do. You guys have been such an inspiration to me!
It just does a plant-lover’s heart good to watch another plant-lover revelling in new plant babies.
Good morning! 🌻🐝
Beautiful load of plants 🪴
Triple urn challenge is the video that got me hooked on your videos! I think a cactus section in your Hartley would be so cool.
Hi, Laura,
I truly love your plant selection!! Where do you buy your metal topiary cloches for your pots?
Yes! And that show was so beautiful! Thank you! Laura 🙂💐
Cotton Candy may act like ~ asparagus fern.
Mine grows well with little water in a small open bedroom closet. Quiet area, little daily traffic.
I put a 2 gallon grow bag under Aspect light (7 hours),
...potted with organic mushroom compost ~and perlite to lighten up humidity, to drain well.
The grow bag is huge so I put a terrarium driftwood piece with living cattleya sitting in it. "Cider barrel" shape log holds humidity,
~ usually sold for gerbils with hole on top and open on the ends.
See if can get an off-cut of stone or granite for the wooden table top! It will protect it from sun bleaching!
Respect the beauty of that wood table.
They all look so beautiful. This winter they are going to make y'all and all of us smile and happy to see all the beautiful house plants. It looks beautiful.❤️❤️❤️
Your mom brings in the most beautiful houseplants! How are you able to not bring them all home? 😁
Love the view from the sink in The Hartley beautiful willow. Stunning.
The cissus discolor (related to grapes) will also go dormant like regular grapes with shorter cooler days
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
🌿🌞🌿I love your selection of house plants 🪴
You always look happy when you are stretching your expertise 👩🌾👍
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍💓
Oh wow. “The urn” is back! That’s a blast from the past. Nice to see it back in action. :) I’m loving the houseplants. I’m not a fan (too distracted to care for then properly) but gosh, this makes me want to buy some. LOL
The little sedum is so cute. The pinkish plant looks good in the grey pot. The little Sedum would look better in a grey or black pot.
Hi
Thoroughly enjoyed the grand garden show. You should do the living joint with the slab walkway.
Just a suggestion maybe for shade in south facing side of HARTLEY you could use expansion rods and white sheers. Have A Blessed Day
I LOVE the Green bubble pepperoni! If you lay a leaf on some soil for about three weeks, a new plant will begin to grow from the center! So fun!!
What an incredible collection of house plants 🪴! I want them all! 😀
