    I experimented with oculink external gpu and I cannot thank you enough for introducing me to the tech. It works wonders and paired with a mini pc and RX6800, plays black myth wukon, maxed settings bar RT, at 70+ FPS. I also got my hands dirty building my own gpu case! My first ever DIY project of any kind, with cuts and bruises as proof 😅

      @@unexplained_entity7514 oculink is really making these machines exciting for sure! And now that there are good quality oculink docks out there it’s even easier to jump in.
      Thunderbolt 5 has 120Gbps of single-direction bandwidth and 240 watts of power delivery it can on its own drive some mid tier graphics cards. That would make eGPU docks even simpler.

      With FSR/LS1 + Framegeneration on every single software, plus the Games upgrades with this technologies... Maybe it is possible to play every game at QHD on 100 > FPS. Of course is not native, as so the current console are not native also. Maybe this softwares "tweaks" are the new normal.

    This could be a portable pc that can handle any games the Steam deck could not.
    I could see using the Virtrue glasses and keyboard/mouse being good for need to use the device locally.

    This is actually a very cool setup. Its the only system that looks good sitting backwards on the desk although the front looks best!! I still don't understand why all these manufacturers insist on putting the oculink port on the front of mini PC's.. i would have fit on the back of the device obviously its even got enough space inside to run a passthrough cable from the front of the board to the back.. especially if you cut off the cable end and remove the port and solder the wires directly to the PCB and run it to the back of the PC. Or just design the PCB with oculink at the rear end and put the USB C 4 link to the front!! So it can definitely be made better but its a very powerful system as it is and intel arc GPU will still game at a 60fps instead of 180fps

  • @JustNotIt9927

    At that price might as well buy a laptop, and if you really need space, just buy one of those under desk laptop mounts, boom, space problem solved, and you get a much faster device for the same price or even less.

    Well again , a star rail video or any games that requiere a discrite gpu while using the igpu would be great
    the intel one look interesting , while the amd was stuck at 65watts , the intel in your video seems to use 35watts , i would definitly spend around 1k to get that kind of performance per watt
    and the possibility to change watt usage and other boost without reaching the bios is a big reason why i would go intel
    also , intel arc have a fast av1 encoding , as someone that is encoding whole day , i would definitly use it a lot
    but here's the problems : in idle , i see the cpu 50 degree ?! compared to the amd one its 15 more degree , so it's great for gaming , but intel arc have a small problems with game compatibility
    btw this and the fact that it's a igpu that can also have compatibility problems...i feel like im going to wait for thoses AI igpu to be released on desktop , or just use the ryzen 8700g instead

    • @LiLBitsDK
      @LiLBitsDK 2 месяца назад

      no usb overhead, less latency

    • @michaeldendulk2230
      @michaeldendulk2230 16 дней назад

      Bit late, but Oculink supports 64 Gbps data transfer rate, compared to USB 4/Thunderbolt at 40 Gbps, while also having less overhead and also having a directer route to the CPU. Thunderbolt 5 will roughly be comparable to Oculink, once you factor in overhead, etc. but isn't yet widely available. Faster versions of Oculink are also a thing, but also not commercially available yet.
      Practically, this means Oculink throttles high end GPU's far less than Thunderbolt, under 10% typically (5-7% in most tests) for 4090, giving almost the same performance as if it was built in to a desktop. A 4090 over Thunderbolt gives something like 20-30% performance loss due the lower data transfer rate.

      because max boost on cpu is SINGLE core... and when running games there might be power limits, temp limits, game not being able to push it higher etc. etc. etc.

      you need to get out more... I lived 3 years in a caravan, this would have saved so much space and would have been easy to clear the desk for other uses... but I made do with a mATX system (which is obviously much larger) and many live in small homes with not much room, so tiny is GOOD

    I do not know what its benefit is. If you are stable and do not move, a PC will be a more powerful deal for the same price. Also, if you are moving, a laptop will work better, because with this device you will need a screen anyway. Frankly, I do not know what the significance of a device is.
