This can be seen when they are chasing Zam Wessel into that bar, Anakin says something like “stand back, this is Jedi business “ which immediately changed the dynamic of the Jedi. Also, Jedi being generals makes no sense in that context but they don’t nearly command enough people to them lead an army. The context of that military promotion when they are not military also makes no sense. And, Jedi wearing robes also makes no sense. In A New Hope, it made sense that Kenobi wore the robes to blend in to the desert environment and to hide from the Empire. Him wearing the exact same thing he wore as a Jedi was not a great disguise making it easy to is story him as a Jedi. All that is to say is the Jedi Knights seemed to actually be like special forces from the military not police which would require different attire. There were so many inconsistencies which were flouted after the originals that is made no sense, especially considering clothing….
You didn't actually understand the prequels, did you. That was part of the point, that the Jedi were losing their way, getting involved in politics and wars. Some of this was caused by Palpatine's manipulations. The Jedi Council was partly responsible for their own fall by playing into Palpatine's hands. All of this was super obvious, Obi-Wan and Annikan even have a discussion about it.
I‘m not so sure on the FBI thing changing the dynamics. The Jedi background was that they were the knights protecting the republic for generations, so they should be able to command respect and authority. So I don’t see any real deviation from what was established before. The general thing is imo also ok, because (a) Palpatine gave the republic an army without command structure on purpose and (b) the republic only consisted of local militia at this point with only the separatists being actually organized. Who else but the noble knights sworn to protect the republic would rise to the challenge Palpatine created? But I do totally agree on the robes, that one was simply a memberberry as designing a new Jedi look would go against expectations. But yes, it would have been nice if they did give the Jedi a more knightly look to drive home the „protecters of the peace in the republic for thousands of generations“.

I know I've said it before but your greenlight series is such refreashing take on reviews. It really let's us see how some could get made and the fault was not the vision, but the execution of these ideas.
Ignoring the overall deplorable state of Disney Star Wars, I already had no interest in this because of how it is pitched in the first teaser trailer: "This isn't about good or bad; this is about power, and who is allowed to use it." This is a fundamentally stupid premise. Of course it matters if those who wield power are good or bad! This idea runs directly counter to all of the pre-existing lore (movies, shows, books, games, all of it) regarding the Star Wars universe, and it clearly demonstrates that the people at the helm of this ship got the navigator killed and no one knows how to steer. The central tenets of the Jedi are peace, compassion, erudition, restraint, and sacrifice--inherently good principles. The core tenets of the Sith are domination, subjugation, and destruction--particularly of things that are good--inherently evil principles. You can not argue that the Jedi are not good or the Sith are not evil, because they simply are on account of the basic ideals at the core of their respective philosophies, quite by design. This is, in my estimation, the very foundation of the Star Wars universe. If your Star Wars story contradicts these ideas then it is not, and can not be, a Star Wars story.

I know I've said it before but your greenlight series is such refreashing take on reviews. It really let's us see how some could get made and the fault was not the vision, but the execution of these ideas.

Ignoring the overall deplorable state of Disney Star Wars, I already had no interest in this because of how it is pitched in the first teaser trailer: "This isn't about good or bad; this is about power, and who is allowed to use it." This is a fundamentally stupid premise. Of course it matters if those who wield power are good or bad! This idea runs directly counter to all of the pre-existing lore (movies, shows, books, games, all of it) regarding the Star Wars universe, and it clearly demonstrates that the people at the helm of this ship got the navigator killed and no one knows how to steer. The central tenets of the Jedi are peace, compassion, erudition, restraint, and sacrifice--inherently good principles. The core tenets of the Sith are domination, subjugation, and destruction--particularly of things that are good--inherently evil principles. You can not argue that the Jedi are not good or the Sith are not evil, because they simply are on account of the basic ideals at the core of their respective philosophies, quite by design. This is, in my estimation, the very foundation of the Star Wars universe. If your Star Wars story contradicts these ideas then it is not, and can not be, a Star Wars story.

Thank you for actually taking the time to explain why the structural elements of this story don't work. Too many critics have double-downed on the "wokeness" and representational aspects when the key problems are simply bad story-telling. I have a strange feeling the "surprise" twist is going to be different memories of childhood distorted by time and propaganda and that there is no good/bad or light/dark dichotomy to the galaxy - just Osha and Mae with their own individual and irreconcilable truths. Sigh! 😪
What these activists would have been finding out for the last couple years, if they had any humility, was that not every Joe Schmesbian can write compelling television shows and movies. Turns out, you don't just have to be a straight white man, you actually need talent.
