    Is this also how you preload off a lip to do like a scrub or whip? I know how to do these I just didn’t know that they were called cuties, I always wanted to try the same motion to see if it was the same as a scrub cause I’ve never done a proper whip or even attempted to scrub before

    How does the bike do in snow?

    In the 80s we would call this a "kick-out". Could this be applied to corners in a race or a waste of time and energy?

    Other than destroying trails, as mention in the comments already, does the cutty serve any useful purpose in getting you down the trail faster? Serious question as I want to know?

    • @pinkbike
      @pinkbike  6 лет назад +9

      Have you ridden a tight corner at speed? Do you want to be able to ride a right corner faster than you to at the moment? The cutty technique will help you do this.
      In this video, Brendan is riding the driest dirt in the world and there had been 0 rainfall in Whistler for months. Yes in this instance it looks like he's just spraying dirt over the trails, but if you master a the cutty technique you will be able to turn much faster than you would if you were just on the brakes. Hope that helps!

      Dude.....cutty is fun its shows some skill....having fun on mtb is not just going as fast as you can down the trail you also got to do it with style

    Forgot to mention counter steering to get out of it, although in this video you didn't push them far enough to need to do that. Looked more like a flick than a proper cuttie. Done properly its more like a g out than a flick.

    Can someone telle me the difference between a cutty and a roost ?

    • @sumotherdude
      @sumotherdude 6 лет назад +3

      you can think of it like a cutty is the technique, roost is the result.

    • @afonsocorreia4433
      @afonsocorreia4433 3 года назад +1

      @@sumotherdude im a bit late but just wanted to say that you dont need to cutty in order to roost. If you go up to a berm fast and just push down on the bike with your feet really hard, thats a roost. Cutty are more used when there are no berms and the technique is a bit different.

    another rule, if you do a cutty you're allowed to look back or you lose any cool points you got for doing one.

    They left out the part where he fixes the trail cause stuff like that puts wear on the trails. Strange.
