Very enjoyable video. I like using the Billy Goat on top too. I also use the Zman Palmetto on top which I feel works just as good and its priced cheaper!
I’ve used the Palmetto BugZ that way on top of slop. There’s more weight to it, so the baits vibration through the vegetation is better. Both skip very well and have great hookup percentage
Fred, I’m still thinking about it. 20 lb fluoro leader should have held. I have a narrow Leverage Landing Net, but didn’t bring it as I had a Musky chew it up last week, and it’s held together with zip ties. I’m thinking about a different type of Boga that has more distance between the grip to open the claws and the claws.
@@TheLittleStuff I’ve been there ,I lost two 30” plus fish at or on the kayak last month that probably would of placed me in position to receive money in the KBF online tournament last month. I primarily fly fish but I use a 25lb leader and it has served me very well.
I found this past year(my first real year of tournament fishing) that my hook up percentage fishing typical hollow body frogs is garbage so I’m keen on trying this technique. I bought the hook you use, a pack of black/blue and white Billy goats to try this upcoming year. My question is I want to throw these on a spinning rod and being that I only have a medium power 6’8” rod running 20lb braid will it have enough backbone to set that size and thickness hook? Or is there another grip pin hook I could use? Or is my best bet to look into a medium heavy rod? Thanks Jeff
Stick with your medium power rod if it skips well for you. I prefer a medium heavy spinning rod, but “hook penetration” with that 4/0 or 5/0 EWG Grip Pin hook is no issue for a medium power rod.
Excellent video Jeff!
I can’t wait to use these again. I plan on slow rolling them way before anyone else would think of topwater.

Great info brother, I’ve got to practice skipping a bait .
You can skip with a bait caster… Good for you …. 👊 Amen Brother
I like baitcasters. I just don't believe that they are my "man card" as an angler.
I have the narrow LLN and in those situations I just stab it in the weeds under the fish like I mean it then pull up under the fish

Bait Caster or Spinning it works is all that matters
Try the baby goat on a Ned head in white
I’ll give it a shot. I use the Baby Goat in craw colors for smallmouth.

Awesome thanks!
@@TheLittleStuff random question, have you ever tried the goat on smallmouth, specifically on the Susquehanna?
