      Thanks so much marijuana literally causes cancer, brain tumors, seizures. And it can shut the brain down and cause strokes. I think i have bronchitis from my roommate smoking next to me outside too. Now i was told i have lung cancer from one smell of marijuana next to me. Its literally a gateway drug and causes everyone i know addicted to it. Ive seen people bug out on marijuana and cause them to be lazy. I really hope they keep locking people in cages for it too for their own personal choices. Hope you have a good day !

But we should be sensible; never drive while high, don't smoke in public places where it might bother other people and keep your edibles in a safe place, out of the reach of children. In general, treat weed like you would treat alcohol or tobacco, even if it's not as dangerous.

      Without even watching the video (on purpose...) - use of any substance that is capable of altering the way your brain functions in a drastic way is like playing with fire. Sure, in many cases you can get away with it, and sometimes even it can help you, but you are still playing with fire... so, whatever you claim don't be an idiot and write something that effectively amounts to "it's all good, and if someone tells you it's not, it's because ".

      Right, well, joking or not - in 2018 it's better to clarify on serious issues like that, because people who read this sort of stuff are likely to miss humor/sarcasm (thanks to the trolling...) Also, I have seen people talking about all sorts of drugs like they were candies and casually exchanging ideas about what's the best way to mix them to get the best effect - after a while people involved in such "discussions" are likely to lose the perspective on what make sense and not, and then it's often too late.

    • @scarletletter4900
      @scarletletter4900 6 лет назад +4

      This is true, but that particular troll was clearly doing it to be funny (why else would the would be lethal dose need a shipping pallet and a forklift to get it off the ground). If it helps, exchanges like this one can help to clear up the confusion; especially if rational, well informed people are the to help with those clarifications. Unfortunately, we can't actually stop people from getting stoned. However, we can help to keep people informed on the medical facts about the drugs in question.

      I drive when I'm mildly high, it's not that difficult, just avoid confusing roads. I'm a naturally cautious driver and weed kind of enhances that caution, so that counteracts the slowed reaction time. Plus, statistics around traffic accidents indicate that weed doesn't seem to be a factor in crashes after accounting for other factors. But not everyone should drive high, if you're not a cautious driver you probably should avoid it, unless you have an "empty road and a full tank".

    The causality with pot as a gateway drug is a function of it being illegal, not of it being pot. To get pot in most places, you have to deal with a drug dealer (at some level) and that brings you into contact with people who can get you "harder" drugs. Nobody at my local 7-11 has offered to tell me where I could get heroin or PCP when I bought beer, if pot were legal, the same principle would apply. Conversely, I would be unsurprised to discover that someone who has the connections to get marijuana illegaqlly has connections to people who can get other illegal drugs.

    • @Eris-_
      @Eris-_ 6 лет назад +3

      Paul Peterson That all stops with legalization. And I've never known a pot dealer to shuffle anything stronger than Molly. There are hard core dealers that also have pot, but most pot smokers would rather go without than deal with a guy like that.

    • @paulpeterson4216
      @paulpeterson4216 6 лет назад +14

      Legalization is my point. My pot smoking days were 40 years ago, so I'm not totally up to date; however, if you know someone who can get illegal pot, chances are that he knows someone, or knows-someone-who-knows-someone, who can get other things. The main point is that illegal drugs are gateways to illegal drugs. Legal substances are not. An exception would be highly addictive substances like prescription opioids, which will lead people to seek out illegal dealers when they can no longer get it from their doctor-pusher.

    • @xlxfx
      @xlxfx 6 лет назад +1

      Such a good point. I never really thought about it that way, but it's true that the sweet person who fetches me weed, has also ended up fetching themselves heroin and crack cocaine for the past year. Quite a jump from weed to that; and we're in the middle of nowhere, rural, in a country of only 5m people. Yet, if i walk outside and find a weed dealer - i'll probably be just 1 person or-so away from the hardest drugs in the country. And it wasn't even the intention of myself or whoever i hypothetically spoke with.

    • @ChronicPainInTheAss

      Yep, you're right. Prohibition of ANYTHING only leads to a bigger blac market.
      I want to move to Portugal, where all drugs were decriminalized in 2001. Their law enforcement went from 90% to ten percent. THEIR crime rate went down by 90 percent as well. Fewer people are using, there's less violence, and they only had 6 drug related deaths in 2017.
      Amsterdam has had the same policy with great success as well. And now
      all Latin American countries are drafting legislation to do the same. They ALL recognize that US drug policy only makes societal problems worse.
      Canada has just instituted opioid vending, using biometrics to ensure the right person gets the right medicine each day. They also have medically supervised facilities for those still using street drugs.

    I had a real moment this morning where I couldn't stop thinking about how much I hated everything, couldn't get any rest. I got a tiny bit of bud in my pipe, smoked it and laid down. Everything was gone, the restlessness, the hatred, the bile, gone. My eyesight is terrible, I'm a bit socially awkward when I smoke but overall I still walk to work and back each day and am on my feet all day. I've smoked for about 15 years now and I'm grateful it helped me to phase out my excessive drinking.
    There are many reasons I shouldn't smoke but it has helped tremendously for me to ease my mind. I don't know what I would have done without it. It's not for everyone but it's sure a lot better than legal drinking.

      Hold up now. I do agree with CelestialEnchantments 432 in that if someone is doing pretty much anything only to avoid a deeper emotional or mental pain then that isn't healthy - but it is very human. And if you are going to avoid deep-rooted pain or try to mitigate the daily darkness and stupid slights of life, marijuana is one of the best choices for doing this because of the negligible harm and numerous physical and psychological benefits from daily use. But Wabbajack Wabbajack is also spot on in regards to the practical benefits that many can find from smoking a bowl or otherwise imbibing a bit of the blessed herb - the scope of the problems that people have who marijuana can provide benefit too is astounding!
      Drew Ciccotelli - Don't ever feel shame for smoking pot, dude! Those of us who have been blessed to have this in our lives are the lucky ones. I would love to use it for its health benifits but i am worried about the psychological long term effect. i would be more inclined to use other natural substances like mushrooms that have no lasting negative effects.

As I smoke every day and I have an unusually high tolerance, I can't wait 30 minutes to an hour and be completely fine to safely drive. I've never crashed or gotten close to crashing sober or high. People who are already bad drivers have actually said it calms them down enough to focus on the road and drive more carefully because they think more about crashing or getting pulled over. I've never tried to drive drunk nor do I intend to but I can easily differentiate the feeling of each and can 100% say it is safer to drive high than it is to drive drunk. I've been doing this for over a year now. I eat a single meal every 24 hours-ish. I have lost 20lbs and kept it off for 1 year but I must admit I am kind of at a plateau, I lost the 20lbs with in the first 3 months give or take and my weight has been stagnant since.
      I am partly to blame. I'm not very strict in that sometimes my meals are 20hrs apart, sometimes they're 28 hours apart. I have drinks with calories during the day, I'd guess 600 calories worth of drinks outside of my single meal. In addition to that I don't really hold back on my single meal, I don't eat unhealthy, but I eat what I desire. I do feel like my stomach has shrunk in that I can only eat half a plate and I'm full now. So If I eat badly atleast I don't eat a lot.
      That is part of why I'm able to stick with this diet, I can kind of eat whatever I want as long as it's during my one meal. I'd like to lose 15lbs more and on weeks where I eat smaller and healthier I do drop another 5lbs but I can't maintain that and I seem to slowly move back to my plateau of a hair over 20lbs less than when I started.
      I have not noticed any side effects outside of minor lifestyle changes. I feel like I have about the same amount of energy as I did before, but I don't have to stop for food in the middle of the day so I have more time for other things.
      It's very hard to stop having food at the time you normally eat. That makes it extreamly hard to start a fast. My recommendation is to buy some sort of protein bar, find your favorite but try for low calorie and high protein, there are a couple in the 150cal/12g protein range and the 250cal/20g protein range. Eat one when you get hungry. Beef jerky is also a great snack to fill you up without much calories, just try to eat small then cut the food off. Do that for a week or so effectively trying to wean off of eating at that hour and then you'll be able to skip that eating time and you won't even miss it. Once you've trained your body not to be hungry at that hour then it becomes easy. Im not hungry at breakfast or lunch but I need dinner.

    • @dyel0h
      @dyel0h 6 лет назад +6

      Good job for doing it for over a year! I think the colloquial term for 24-hour fasting is OMAD (one-meal-a-day fasting).
      I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only subscriber on healthcare triage channel that fasts. I've been doing IF as well. For 2 months, I did the most common protocol 16-8 fasting. Then for 4 months (until now), I fasts twice a week for 36 hours. So I'm very familiar with the fat loss effects of fasting. Oh, and if you want to lose more weight, here is what I can suggest (try only one at a time):
      * Be strict with your fasting period. Limit your intake to water, black coffee, or tea when fasting. Do not add sugar, creamer, or artificial sweeteners. Having food or drinks with calories will break your fast.
      * Extend your fasting period. Try 36-hour fasts twice or thrice a week. (Some people do 2 days or more, but I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't tried it and I have no experience with it.)
      * Eat healthily (less carbs, more fiber, more healthy fats). But as you've mentioned this is difficult to maintain. But if you really want to lose more, I think this is the last barrier that you'd have to go over.
      What I want to know though is the long term effects. What will happen to us if we continue fasting for 5 years? 10 years? Will it do any better than the "usual" 3 meals a day diet or will it do more harm? I'm having a hard time looking for studies or reports that tackles the long term effects.

    What so many people don't mention in this debate is the (absolutely real) risk of getting depersonalization. Obviously, pot is not the only factor, but I have had to face this issue so many times after getting too high too often. It's terrible and annoying. It's short term and not necessarily harmful, but I still think it should be mentioned as a potential risk, or atleast a con.

      It is important to recognize that there has been a lot more research done on the harms of tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drugs. Marijuana is still being studied and there are a lot of things we don't understand yet. The research that has been published is worrisome, especially for the youth. The American Journal of Psychiatry published a paper on October 3, 2018 titled, “A Population-based Analysis of the Relationship Between Substance Use and Adolescent Cognitive Development.” This study followed 3,826 seventh grade students and followed them for four years. They performed various assessments over the four years and the results were significant for cannabis having a long-term impact on adolescent memory. There were some additional effects seen in cannabis use that was not detected in alcohol use. These were, “lagged (neurotoxic) effects on inhibitory control and working memory and concurrent effects on delayed memory recall and perceptual reasoning.” The conclusion of this study goes on to say, “lasting effects of adolescent cannabis use can be observed on important cognitive functions and appear to be more pronounced than those observed for alcohol.”
      While many people have found a benefit from using marijuana for medical reasons, they are also putting themselves at risk for long-term effects as seen in this study. This is especially troublesome for youth that have developing brains. This could impact their memory capacity in the future and make school and work more difficult. Before it is legalized, people need to understand the risks they are taking every time they smoke. For those who use it for medical reasons like epilepsy, the FDA just approved it’s first CBD oil. The FDA requires at least three phases of testing before a drug is approved to ensure it’s safety. The use of the CBD oil that is approved for the FDA will be more safe to use that CBD oil you find other places. When pot or CBD is purchased from smoke shops the full ingredients and strength are unknown. There is not a consistent system for dosing because there are so many different plants and the labeling is subjective. The FDA’s product will not have that problem because it is regulated.
      Until further research is done, it would be unwise to legalize marijuana because there are already harmful effects being observed. We know smoking tobacco can lead to increased risk of lung cancer and other problems, and smoking companies are legally obligated to list those risks on the packaging. Marijuana or CBD oil should be further investigated so those risks can be listed and known for all users. It would be unethical for the government to legalize something that we know so little about. This plays into the ethical principle of autonomy- meaning that someone should be able to make their own decisions, but to truly have autonomy you need knowledge. At this point, I think the society as a whole needs more knowledge so we can make an educated decision on whether cannabis should be legalized.

      I agree that it has not been studied enough, but i would like to point out a fact that stoners around the world have made very clear. No one, I repeat, NO ONE, has died from use of cannabis. Call it anecdotal if you want but you can watch a cigarette smoker and a pot smoker in a 30 year span and its more than likely that the cannabis hasn't done nearly as much damage as the cigarettes, or alcohol, or prescription drugs, or any other man made drug. You say we know so little about it but what more do we need to know to insure that its safe? It helps people mentally and physically, and hasn't caused ANY deaths. With all the research we have done on our man made/altered drugs, knowing the great damage it causes you'd think we know enough to tell the difference between a good drug and a bad drug. Good drug being a plant naturally occurring, bad drug being created by mankind, addictive, chemicals, etc... also man made drugs almost ALWAYS are for the money. This argument is very touchy for a lot of people but if you look at it logically it makes sense that cannabis should be legal for anybody that is mature enough. Just like alcohol, tobacco, etc.

    • @courtneyshillrussell5032
      @courtneyshillrussell5032 6 лет назад +3

      What would you consider a death from cannabis? According to the CDC, when under the influence of cannabis, an individual has slower reflexes, impaired decision making, and reaction time. Driving and operating under the influence of marijuana poses a threat to the driver and all people on the road. I recognize that there are some people that might be more impacted than others, but statistics indicate that driving under the influence of marijuana is dangerous and causes more fatal crashes. Colorado is a great example of this. It legalized marijuana in 2014 and the number of fatal crashes under the influence of marijuana has nearly doubled. There are a number of statistics for 2014, 2015 and 2016 and I will only share one but you can read the article for yourself. It says, “In 2016, of the 115 drivers in fatal wrecks who tested positive for marijuana use, 71 were found to have Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in their blood, indicating use within hours, according to state data. Of those, 63 percent were over 5 nanograms per milliliter, the state’s limit for driving.” Based on these statistics, it is wrong to say that no deaths have been caused by marijuana because the changes that take place in your brain while under the influence of marijuana can impact your daily activities and decisions. These statistics are showing a trend that driving under the influence of marijuana can be dangerous. Some occurred deaths even occurred when they were within the legal limit for blood marijuana in Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is worried at the increase in marijuana-related crashes. Saying there have been no deaths caused by cannabis is wrong. The people who have lost loved ones because of marijuana-related crashes would agree with me.
      Driving under the influence of marijuana is not the only way people are harmed by marijuana. When cannabis is ingested, it takes time to get the full effect of the drug. This has lead to a number of poisonings that have resulted in ER visits. I can attach multiple news articles of high school students, teachers, or toddlers that have been poisoned by marijuana and had to go to the ER. It is also important to consider when people mix drugs. There can be lethal combinations when marijuana is combined with other drugs. You can do further research on your own, but there are people that have been harmed and killed from the influence of marijuana.
      The CDC has also warned that smoking marijuana can cause similar damage as smoking cigarettes because, “smoke from marijuana contains many of the same toxins, irritants, and carcinogens as tobacco smoke.” Smoking alone will cause inflammation of the lungs, and over a lifetime that irritation can cause damage alone. If it is also smoked with toxins that are found in cigarettes, you can assume we will start seeing future lung cancer cases because it is the exposure to carcinogens that causes it.

      I consider death from cannabis as one would consider death from alcohol or even tobacco, surely you can drink and drive (which btw is regulated not to mention illegal) and of course this causes risk, this risk is especially similar to your argument with driving stoned. But on the other hand, unlike cannabis, there are also devastating biological repercussions to our bodies caused by tolerated things like tobacco, alcohol, prescription pills, etc. My main point is, cannabis isn't any worse than what we've already have legal today. Also cannabis has been tested and PROVEN to cause less automobile accidents than alcohol, link below. I know a man who has smoked cannabis for nearly 60 years daily, hes 76 this year and still drives. Name someone who smokes cigarettes and drinks alcohol as much that is healthier both mentally and physically. Bet you couldn't, sad thing is you can go get both things i just mentioned from the handy way. good day

    In most videos about Cannabis, they only inform about theoretical science and dry facts behind weed, in a seemingly unexperienced manner. It is seldomly outlined in detail how it actually feels like on a subjective level, which is presumably the most interesting insight. I have smoked weed more than 10 times (mostly alone and in the form of a joint) and here is my take on the subjective effects:
    After the first inhale you cough a lot and hard, you shortly after feel a slight itching, even burning down the bottom of your lungs - simmilar to cigars, but a little more intense. Then you feel an increase in your heart beat rate. Your nose might run and your eyes might tear a little. Shortly after, you sense the formation of an invisible layer underneath the skin of your whole body, which kind of feels like when your arm goes numb, but just that the sensory perception is amplified instead of numbed. You feel more light headed and a true shift in your conscious perception, almost like rising higher as if your head blew up like a baloon. If this is your first time smoking weed, then that process might feel like being strapped onto an accelerating starship in space, where you sit first row in the cockpit. You might laugh for no reason. You might have a shorter memory and attention span. You might feel more lazy and like doing nothing. So much so that even standing up and going to the door might feel like sports or an intensive mission. You're just relaxed and don't feel like doing much. You might talk a lot more than usually, and talk about pointing out some things you find weird or significant, which you have never viewed from another angle before. In this sense you are more curious and find things more fascinating. At some point you might get very hungry and have a seemingly higher capacity to eat in contrast to your sober state (I recommend fruits and berries). Your mouth might feel dry and swallowing could feel very uncomfortable. If you're with other persons, it is possible that you see past all the trivial things of one person and actually see the metacognitive intentions of that individual. The capacity for empathy might be increased. On a mental level, you might think that everyone else is secretly conspiring againsy you, in an almost paranoid way. You will assume and believe that everyone else knows that you smoked weed. On this note it's easy to indulge in an anxious and self-hating mood. Since your thought-flow is faster, it's easy to take things too seriously and drown in depression - especially when you're doing it alone. If so, then you will truely understand how lonely you are and how unimaginably important social connections are for the well-being of ones own psyche. The flow of time might feel slowed down. Moving through space coould feel more resistant, almost as if the air had been replaced with honey. Experiencing life might feel like being forced to watch a 5D movie, of which you are the protagonist. From the outside, you have red eyes, dillated pupils and, of course, smell like weed.

    Something to consider regarding the link between impaired drivers and the amount of traffic accidents is that those who are willing to take the risk of driving while high probably have a more risk taking personality, which may also increase risky driving and thus more accidents. There is no doubt it does, but just the actual % increase of incidents based solely on impairment is hard to measure, because personality of individuals is another variable that screws the results.

    I smoked fot about a year of my life, never really got into it though. I had fun times while high, minus one bad high (panic attack), I decided to stop doing it in order to avoid addiction and suffering from derealization that affected my daily life. About a couple months later, I quitted vaping nicotine as well. I almost never drink anymore, either. Only 1 shot of liquor saved for certain events from someone else's bottle. But as a whole, being sober feels so much better. So I encourage anyone who smokes, vapes, drinks, etc. to end it for good.

    Legalizing marijuana is one of the worst things our government has done in recent times it’s like all of the old research that showed the negative effects of marijuana use is gone or being ignored and in is the new trying to promote marijuana as safe and perfectly acceptable it’s scary to think about what the United States will look like 10 years from now if more bills are passed making marijuana and other recreational drugs legal

Israel is conducting experiments to find a way to do so, but the way someone metabolizes cannabis can be vastly different from the next person and they've been working on it for years. And an edible overdose is far from fun for most people. If you're worried about lung exposure, stay away from dabs and gravity bongs and stick to high-end vaporizers like the Volcano.

Smoking let's you gradually dose and it's harder to hit that "too high" feel. It's not really affecting your lungs, especially if you're using a bong or volcano instead of a blunt. If you're really affected by the tar, do dabs instead. Edibles suck lmao

      No I would hypothesize that even vry pro pot smoking people, there's still a level of shame about it around kids, even more so that tabacco smokers.

    the major difference between driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while stoned is this- their are degrees of intoxication depending on the amount of alcohol consumed...where as, with pot, you get completely impaired every single time (and you can be even more "stoned" depending on how much THC is present in the marijuana)...doing either of these while driving is completely stupid, but doing it while stoned is even more so...

    cannabanoid hypermesis syndrome wasnt mentioned here, the "puking pot head" disease. I just got falsely diagnosed with it, i certainly use enough because i have multiple sclerosis, and I have digestive problems, pain bloating and weight loss. So I go see a GI and he slaps hat down, my family doctor disagreed because "hypermesis" means lots of vomitting, which is not on my list of problematic symptoms at the moment. The doctor heard that I use medical marijuana for many years and wouldn't listen to another thing I said. This doctor glazed over my gastroparesis and gastritis. Idiot. I went in suspecting gastroparesis too.
    It may very well be a real disease, but the whole situation gave me a real reefer madness vibe. At least my family doctor listened to me and got me correctly diagnosed. (though whats causing the gastroparesis is anyone's guess at the moment)

      Ian , that is not the same thing as cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. It happens to veteran smokers, it causes cyclic vomiting which is pretty out of control no matter how much/little is smoked

    I was a user my self for 6+ years I'm all for legalization and there's tons of benefits especially if we're talking CBD I am no longer a everyday user but I can confirm panic attacks aswell as an increase in anxiety can occurr in certain users. I suffered from horrible nuasea and anxiety in the mornings and anxiety through out the day as well as memory problems which is pretty obvious. I always felt better at the end of the day when I would spark a joint up or pack a bowl but after I let it go completely my motivation went up anxiety went away and I felt alot better. I wish I was able to smoke it everyday but my brain chemistry tells me not to. That's my person experience. I took me 5+ years to realize my anxiety was caused by my weed habit after I let it go I realized maybe smoking daily isn't for me. But when I retire and have no worries I'll be stoned all day 😎😎😎

    Ideally, one should avoid smoking and driving, but compared to ANY type of cell phone use, it's much less risky.
    One study showed that simply talking on the phone (not even texting) increased the risk of accidents as much as drunk driving

    Healthcare Triage Thank you for this. Might you do a piece on CBD hemp oil? [I just began trying 4-5 drops sublingually of 100 mg/mL to try helping with painful muscle spasms associated with an inherited (!!!) dystonia problem. My mind does not "get along with" THC molecule so do not use that. Have had a big pile of pharmaceuticals daily in my life since age 11.]

      I'm so sorry to hear that. I edited my comment as I meant to ask about its usefulness with muscle spasms, which are so severe for me that pain is often an eventuality. So, not for the pain itself, but for the muscle spasms from the dystonia. So far, I only take it once in bed, and it is helping me wake up without any spasms/pain in my neck. All my best to you.
