Being from Texas and a lover of the goth/moody ambiance , and a whiskey drinker lol I feel like I’m watching parts of my apartment style 😂
I love the bar scene. My grandpa had a party room decorated as an old west country bar. ❤
This is actually far more cool than I thought it was going to be!
I have to agree with cacti against dark colors. It’s stunning 🌵
What I love about your videos and presentation style is, even when it’s something that doesn’t resonate with me, I still learn ways to apply what you discuss to styles I love. Your videos are some of my favorites and I’m always excited when I get the notifications.
Aw so happy to hear that!
i love western gothic, i've grown up camping/ riding motorcycles in the desert 1.5 hours away from home, so the desert has always been a big part of my life. i also have an ever growing cactus garden, so i am here for this gorgeous aesthetic! this video was so beautiful to watch + very inspiring
Wonderful! Love this so much!
Your explanation on Western Gotchic made sense to me. Also, I enjoy watching your videos because they’re always so organized and aesthetically cohesive.
I had a western Gothic apartment when I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lived right near Desert hills inn! Oklahoma is loaded with hidden undertones of western Gothic decor, meets Retrocore. Plus it's home to skullz unlimited! I've spent a great deal of time messing with combining western Gothic, whimsygoth, and Asian decor in my apartment. (Work in progress).
Thank you for watching! What do YOU think of the Western Gothic trend? Do you incorporate any elements of it in your styling?
It's not my personal cup of tea (I need more purple and gold), but it's definitely striking and beautiful! I think someone could also incorporate it by using clothes as decor--like hanging a black fedora/floppy hat on the wall, or putting some funky black cowboy boots out on display.
I’m tripping because I have been experimenting with my interior design aesthetic and I keep calibrating towards something that I called western gothic one day to a friend and now I’m finding out it is a thing for real lol.
I like this naming better than what my friends used to call my style which was “Cracker Barrel meets natural history museum”
I haven't heard of this style but I find it very interesting but not something I'd incorporate in my interior but I enjoy looking at all interior designs and I've been enjoying watching your videos !😊
Oh yes, very much in vogue back in the 80's, a fave of hard rock, metal bands of the period, my favorite was the band Cinderella.
Great video as always!
Thank you!
Love this style. Also, agreed with the skull wall decor, even if it is fake or stylized. While I don't use Western Gothic style in my decor, I incorporate forest gothic decor in my apartment (more specifically, I'm going for a "cathedral in the forest" theme) I have two stag heads, one copper, and the other is in matte black.
Mirrors would also be great to customize, paint, weather, etc. to give it that Western Gothic aesthetic. A decorative cast iron pan would be kinda neat displayed on a Western Gothic kitchen wall.
I agree! And I love the idea of forest gothic, that sounds beautiful!
Cathedral in the forest sounds gorgeous!
@floofymuffin Thank youuuu! :3 I actually came up with the theme years ago when I started watching Steffi's channel.
I was also going through a breakup and moved from Seattle to St. Paul. I fell in love with the cathedral there and wanted to incorporate that vibe in my apartment, but with a foresty feel. I found some wooden farmhouse arch wall decor and repainted them all dark walnut brown. Then I glued some green moss into some of the little crevices to get an "overgrowth" kind of look. The rest of the decor is a mix of pressed leaves, feathers, faux vines, and some imagery of my favorite forest animals. And of course, some anime and D&D nerdery thrown into the mix :3
@ModaMisfit Senpai noticed me :0 Thank youuu, Steffi! Can't wait to see your next style theme video and more of Helo! ♡
I love the way you combined the Western and Gothic styles. The living room with the skull was amazing, and I loved most of the bedrooms. I always get such ideas from your videos, Steffi. Did I miss Helo? I didn't see him!
Haha she was on my lap the whole time I was filming. You can see her cute little paw come up at about 7:50!
I can't define my style better than eclectic gothic as I get stuff secondhand- thrift, Goodwill, Facebook Marketplace, friends, family- and places like Homegoods during Halloween Decor Hunting Season. I just stick to my rules and colors.
This is my vibe 100%, but not able to paint the walls … how can I make it moody?
This definitely inspired me! I love this so much! Thank you for another great video 🖤
Yaaay so glad you liked it!
What about Gothic romance chic. Any ideas on that?
interesting idea but not for me. I am into combining goth with pastells, florals or white and geometrics
Isn't the western aesthetic more about borrowing/appropriating from Indigenous American tribes and the patterns they used??
It can be if it isn’t approached with sensitivity to cultural appropriation. There are ways to do the western style respectfully, but there is a very fine line. There are a lot of historical and cultural complexities to navigate. Also, the gothic element coming into play here adds another layer of complexity that almost takes this style further away from reality and more into a visual fantasy. But however you slice it, this style is inherently complex, which makes it interesting to explore.
Thank you for this comment. It's funny how people want to just romanticize the history of Western expansion. It was full of death and destruction for millions of people.
I was gonna say that too...Western style definitely glorifies oppression and colonialism.
@@floofymuffin there certainly is that aspect to it, unfortunately. But there are nuances to consider and explore. This style isn’t quite so black and white and simple.
Borrowing as in sharing cultural things, not appropriating.
I don’t understand “western gothic” - it seems to me like two completely unrelated genres put together. And I don’t do skulls. Ever.
Why did you click on the video then?
Well, this is why this video was created, to explain why and how, it is well explained in it.
