  • Hi there, Doug Stuman with IT Creations with the Dell Precision 5860 workstation tower. Just up from the Dell precision 3660 workstation tower, this unit features an Intel Xeon W-2400 processor with up to 24 cores, which is part of the Sapphire Rapids family processors. This would be considered a mid-sized tower and can also support up to 2x NVIDIA or AMD professional graphics cards and up to 2TB of DDR5 memory!
    Outfitted with an Intel Xeon W-2400 series CPU, this system offers a similar configuration to the Lenovo ThinkStation P5 workstation, and the HP Z4 G5 workstation. The difference is the volume of memory it can support at 2TB. Perhaps HP and Lenovo will upgrade the… Watch the video!

    I've heard that the power cord for this requires plugging into a 250V outlet instead of the regular 115V NEMA-style outlets. Any info on this?

      Hi there Connie,
      You probably can plug it into a 250V power outlet with the right cord but this system does have PSUs with a power range of 90 VAC-264 VAC, which is considered a universal (input) voltage. In North America, domestic outlets supply 110-120 VAC, which is within that range. Even for the 1350W PSU. See page 17, of the User guide www.itcreations.com/user-manuals/5860/dell-precision-5860-tower-workstation-setup-and-specifications.pdf
      Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

    4:15 .... you mean 'why would you go with windows 11?'
    ... while 10 is still supported and you do not absolutely HAVE to "upgrade"

    • @Itcreations-LA
      @Itcreations-LA  4 месяца назад

      To each their own. Mostly said that because Windows 10 will not be supported by October of next year. One of my systems at home that I revived with an SSD install cannot even be upgraded to Windows 11. Yes, i know there are a few things you can do to circumvent the hardware deficit but I just don't have the patience for that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    PCIe 5, 2TB RAM, Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2... AND A DVD-RW drive!!! Baaaaaahahahahaha. Yeah. I know. The Army probably wants it... I have built some systems with 100GB BD-XL M-DISC drives to archive photo projects, but that's just FUNNY. Also optional PS/2 ports? This thing will RIP with FreeDOS installed!
    And when there are 24TB HDDs and 60TB NVMe 2.5" drives out there how is Dell still specifying 12TB max for their workstation options?
    I appreciate their graybeardedness... I'll put it next to my PCs Limited 286.

      Hahahahah! Love your comments! I think the HDDs spec is just the result of what's available at time of printing but you are correct. if you want to take the time and do a modicum of research, assembling something truly powerful is not a problem. Workstations from manufacturers answer to a higher power though. Usually the software manufacturers and the smaller component manufacturers. Not to mention the ECC aspect for reliability. Thanks for commenting and watching! 😜

      @@Itcreations-LA Oh yes. I've been building custom workstations for the media content creation and production industries for twenty years. I know all about the ISVs and very eccentric legacy requirements. I recently had to build a brand new, EMI/RFI and environmentally hardened PC with an EISA card for some industrial equipment😝
      I just get all nostalgic when I see a 5 ¼" device. I had no idea they were still accommodating them in modern workstation chassis. Love me a Dell.

    Why go with Windows 10?.. Maybe because Windows 11 is awful. It follows MS pattern of good-bad-good-bad cadence of OS revs. Think XP-Vista-Win7-Win8-Win10-Win11. See its good-bad-good-bad-good-bad.

      I have Windows 10 on one of my systems at home, so I do get it, that said no more support starting October of next year (2025) and there have been rumors of them charging to continue running the program on your system. We are doomed! And on that note… Thanks for commenting and watching! 🤣🤣🤣
