    Fun fact: tampons were discovered (realized) during one of the world wars when they were used to plug gunshot wounds. The syringe shooting out tablets of the same type of compressed cotton is really just an updated form of that idea. Plus, it is also helpful to know how much blood one of them holds. You can tell at a glance how much blood someone has lost which dictates your treatment.

      Tampons are bot good for bullet wounds as bullets/sharpnal come in various sizes. And uou may make the wound worse by pushing a object into the wound.

      @@Andytheevien Good in only very specific situations as emergency first aid only. They may help you survive long enough to get medical attention, but they will almost certainly make the prognosis worse if you would have made it anyway. There are almost certainly better options out there.

    • @Corrie-_-
      @Corrie-_- 8 месяцев назад +4

      I mean, it seems like a great idea but how would they know when the tsunami is coming to jump into the capsule? If they have enough time to go to the roof of their apartment building to jump on in, wouldn't it be better to just leave as fast as possible? Also, most areas affected by tsunamis don't have average people that can pay that amount of money to own one. Heck, most people anywhere don't even have enough money lol

      @Corrie-_- all good, bee venom yes... even wasps... cause been sung in the neck used em immediately and the venom pools on the skin. No eppy that's a death sentence for me. I keep one in all my gear fishing camping hunting ect. I'm only semi allergic where I get extreme swelling in local areas...(foot turned into a basketball when I stepped on a Bumble bee). Don't work as well on hornets and wasps but could definitely give u time if ur really allergic. Works best on one's that loose their stinger and die as it does suck the venom outta the sack, before it works down enough. Don't trade an epy for it but worth least keeping on ya if u are... never needed one a snake bit(only had one and was able to milk it thru my hand) closet I've been to that, but would guess it would have a similar affect as it would pull some out possibly. I wouldn't bet my life on it but doubt it wouldn't help. Only issue there is depth on puncture...Hornet or wasp are much shallower than a snakes fangs

    • @Corrie-_-
      @Corrie-_- 7 месяцев назад

      @@DukeLukeEm86 I'm sorry for what you've been through. I was talking about the tsunami capsule though lol. The thing they showed to take venom out actually does exist?! I wouldn't think it would help at all. Maybe with bees like you said, but if someone is highly allergic, then an epi pen would definitely help more than this contraption. Especially if they go into anaphylactic shock. You just wouldn't be able to get all the venom out, and those that are highly allergic wouldn't stand a chance with that thing. I'm glad it worked for you though. Why is an epi pen a death sentence for you?

    Fire balls appear to be the newest iteration of an old theme. There used to be glass "fire grenades" that you would toss into a fire to put it out. They made their first appearance during the Victorian era and were filled with salt water. Around the year 1900, the salt water was replaced with carbon tetrachloride. They were very effective but the carbon tet was, shall we say, less than healthful.
    You can buy genuine glass fire grenades, less the CCl₄, at some antique stores. Some of them are really pretty and make unusual decorations.

    Some really amazing inventions. I particularly like the bracelet you can use to break the window of a car and the shark deterrent.. I do find it interesting that so many people are afraid of flying but will drive/ride in a car without a worry. While 80,000 deaths from plane accidents sounds like a lot that is over a 53 yr period, making it 1,509 deaths per year, while in 2020 alone there were 38,824 vehicle fatalities.

    29:03 I know how to use a variety of fire extinguishers, not only because it's fairly obvious on most what to do, but also because I sometimes was bored while waiting for class, so I read the labels of the fire extinguishers that hung on the wall there. It's basically always like this: pull out the yellow ring/tab, if there, punch the big, round black or red plastic button and then squeeze the two (most often black) handles together, and voilà, the contents of the extinguisher spray out the nozzle/hose.

    Another thing about the airplane one... the majority of plane crashes are small personal ones that couldn't handle an ejecting cabin and (if I remember right) over 90% of all crashes are during take-off/landing so an ejecting cabin on a passenjer plane might actually make things worse.

    • @jray1429

      You’d have to recertify the aircraft. Also, space is a premium in an aircraft. It Takes time for the manufacturer (and lots of money) and time for the authority, like the FAA to certify. This is a significant change to the aircraft. It ain’t happening.
      Few small aircraft owners would/could spend the type of money this would cost. The bigger planes would have to have a large investment made for “little return”.

    The other thing with that detaching aircraft cabin is, it only works when the airplane is well in the air. A lot of accidents that do occur happen on takeoff or landing, when that cabin would be useless (there's just not enough time or room for it to detach and land safely). So it's not just about the money, it's that the utility of it is less universal than you'd think -- and that's before you get to the question of what happens if something doesn't go according to plan in the detachment and landing process.

    Love your content.. but check out this fire extinguisher from element. It doesn't have a expiration date, no recharges, puts out every class of fire, and fits in a vehicle too! Has longer burn time than a 10lbs fire extinguisher, and weights as much as a road flare! In all honesty it's the best extinguisher I've ever found! It works in the kitchen, garage, and race cars too. Cost around $80ish.. and comes in two different sizes, but only the smaller one for the general public and the larger one is for emergency crews.. would love to see it added to a video in the future
