Starts by saying, wish I'd known this before I bought it, but then goes on with a very basic introduction of how to install and use it and then a typical sales pitch about how good it is. I hate misleading intros. It finishes without telling you it's finished so that you are tricked into watching a final advert expecting to hear the promised caveat.
Thanks for letting me know. This is nothing more than click bait
It's wrong. I don't know why people don't consider the fact that it's wrong on morale grounds. It's unfortunate that people don't care about ethics these days. That's why I have ad-blocker on my device because of these morons.
Yep, this channel gets an immediate "Don't recommend channel" instruction if it pops up on RUclips again. That was a real BS move.
Shouldve read that beforehand...
Thanks, saved me from watching the video.
Nice review. However, I think you glossed over a lot of various aspects that I would want to know as a potential buyer of the product. Screen feel?/ Comparison to the previous kindles? Fingerprints?
You also prefaced your video as if you're going to mention the negatives of the kindle but didn't actually mention any.
I always watch these before you buy videos after I buy something lmfaoooo
Saaaame 😂😂😂 just ordered this today
IPX8 means only protection against water, not dust (the first number is for solid particles and in this case there is no certification). PPI doesn't define the resolution, but pixel density.
If water molecules can't get in, dust can't get in either, when the second number is 8 (max) no dust tests are necessary.
@@joshefchuck6385 the second digit can get up to 9 and it's the case of ipx9 which is equivalent to ip69k. In the case of ipx8 it means that there is no data to specify a protection rating.. (although it it certainly possible for the device to be, to an extend, resistant to dust)
Fantastic review. Straight to the point, informative and thorough without the usual RUclips filler BS.
Agreed
The bit where he talks about the controls for 2 minutes is BS
Bro I read so much but didn’t like the techno side but you can read on that for 10 weeks on 1 charge??! That’s insane I’m getting one now
Very accurate, straight-to-the-point and helpful video. Thank you!
I have a pretty old model of the paper white and so far I haven’t encountered any problems. Wondering if getting an upgrade is worth it or if I should just wait till it breaks before thinking about it.
It’s probably worth it with the trade in program
@@yourlotusflower4414 alright, thank you. I’ll probably look into doing that then.
I have a 6th generation (10 years old) and have had zero issues. I recently have been watching reviews for the newer models and really, I don't personally see a point in upgrading. Doesn't feel to me like there's enough upgrades to justify the expense. But that's just my opinion!
You can probably sell ur old kindle and then u can use the sold money to buy a new kindle?
Yo prefiero lis primeros modelos, eran más sencillos y mejores.
Heard it had Internet access? Didn't get brought up so now questioning to buy it, I read a lot of light novels through websites, a lot of them aren't published. Anyone know if these are accessible?
A very honest review. Most would do retakes of the scene where you tried to pinch "zoom in" but couldn't get it at first, it freaked out and started making the backlit brighter instead, so after a few more "pinches" we got a couple of bars of backlit brighter plus the intended zoomed in position. A very realistic case, one might say!
Do you know if you can still use the search/ notes function like in the kindle app?
How can one remove the irritating clippings board ? And also comments from other readers?
Just asking
Why the motion in the kindle a bit slow? Won't it ruin my experience?
I just want to know if you can transfer your own ebooks to the Paperwhite for reading? Or is it strictly Amazon bought books only?
You can connect it to your pc and put any books on it you want.
You can connect it to your pc and put any books on it you want.
@@kimberlyabettes3525 Thanks
Little tip if you ask Amazon customer service nicely they'll remove the ads for free
How, just ask them straight up?
@@ohooper yeah just say as you’re a long time loyal customer (that whole line) you’d be super appreciative if they could just remove them for you for free.
What ads are you referring too?
@@mariea2277 the ads you get in the cheaper fire tabs and kindles that you can pay to remove
You said there's some things you wish you knew before buying it? What were they?
Can we upload our own PDF to Kindle? or by converting it to kindle format?
I have a kindle from 2016 it held up well but cause of damages I'm looking to upgrade
This model of Kindle had no backlight so it was hard to read without annoying everyone around me
chas sis lmfao
😂
“Chassis” rhymes with “classy.” 😋
Does it have a horizontal mode and if so, can you then go for- and backward through the book on the same side of the kindle?
If its a bit unclear: The Kindle 4 with physical buttons has a horizontal mode. My thumb lies comfortably on the forward button and with a little press I go to the next page, or if I move my thumb just a tiny bit, it can reach the previous page button.
Hugely over priced but very nice product.
Glad its not just another pad like they did with the Fire
Is the loading faster the other models?
Yes
What if i dont have an amazon account?
now this is le epic boss frfr 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
They need to make a Kindle Paper-LIGHT-weight. 1/2 lb is tiring on the wrist when laying down for extended periods. I'm willing to sacrifice a 10 week battery. 1week battery w/type C is plenty
still way lighter that the actual book.
The basic kindle is lighter
You’ve overlooked how annoying the on/off button placement is. It makes it very difficult to hold when lying down without accidentally and repeatedly turning the darn thing off. Why on earth that button isn’t at the top from where no one will hold it is beyond me. This problem can be solved with a variety of cases and holders, however. Overall, I find the device to be worth the expense.
Thanks
Im confused... is everything in black and white or dies it display color?
I think there is a kindle that displays color, people talk about it being "Kindle Fire" if I'm not wrong. But Kindle Paperwhite does NOT display color.
The main advantages of the Paperwhite are its low battery usage and ability to read it easily in bright sunlight.
Both of these are a result of the simple mono display that can work even with the backlight switched off.
If a colour display was added these advantages would be lost, and it would just be a small tablet with very restricted functionality.
@@stevecooke1636 that looks very well said!
They seem nice if all you need is something to read on but I can't get past the cost and what all they do. You can get an android that will more than get the job dun plus do allot more for $100. Cant see paying as much or double for an e reader.
I completely agree but some ppl just want the kindle just to have for reading personal reasons I guess my wife just told me she want this for Christmas but she has the newest iPhone and a 1yr or 2 old apple tablet that she uses to read but yet she want the kindle just so she can read on that tablet alone lol
the main reason is the e-ink display. it feels and looks like paper. its like the old magnettables where you can paint on with a magnet pen. its way more comfortable to read on for longer periods of time.
Video would be so much better if you did more than just read the tech specs off the product webpage. I can get that info myself. More personal experiences would make this a more valuable review. :)
I still prefer the kindle app on my iPad. The Kindle flicker on every interaction is distracting and makes it feel cheap and glitchy.
I prefer paperback ❤
IP x8 mean no dust resistance
The only thing I don’t like is how it goes from page to page, or book from book. I hope that makes sense.
I feel the same and actually came here to see if that was normal - the quick, inverted color shift is jarring
@@heylaurileeyou can turn that feature off, instead though there will be a small amount of ghosting. I prefer the ghosting to the constant screen refreshing after every page turn.
Do you need to be contacted to the Internet to read the books?
You need to download them first but after that no.
I have a KINDLE FIRE that's difficult to read on the beach. Will this make reading in sunlight easier?
It’s unbelievably easy to read in the sun yes
@@red33sox24Thank you!
It’s like reading on paper
A saoieaud screen you say?
does anyone think kindle will come out with a new paperwhite in 2024?
This is a 2021 model not 2023…
Does it have all books?
No my friend
@@eddiew2325Can i transfer my own pdf to kindle from Android or any other device?
Can you highlight a word and find out the meaning of the word ?
Yep. That’s called downloaded dictionaries.
Is it better than just using a tablet or ipad?
Generally no. The user interface with the Kindle app on a tablet, or even a phone is a lot better.
However, there is one thing the Paperwhite is very useful for - reading in bright sunlight. Phones and tablets don't cope with this very well at all.
@@stevecooke1636you are wrong, partner. The best thing here is E-ink technology, as it doesn’t traumatize eyes like iPads do.
Yes a lot…. Try to read a whole Book on an iPad and than on a kindle. Your eyes will thank you a lot
the black border around that looks like it glares REALLY bad, like a fireHD (which I own). I cannot stand the border glare of my fireHD10. It's like a bloody mirror. What about the power button being on the bottom of the new Kindle Paperwhite 6.8 inch... that looks horrible. Why does Amazon keep using glaring materials for the borders of their devices. It also annoys me that ereaders claim "glare free" when they TOTALLY glare. Kobo and Kindle both do this. Not as bad as a cellphone screen or firehd screen mind you but still terribly annoying.. Completely false advertising, because you can see the glare in this video (and worse in person). Great for reading in sunlight outside, long as the sun isn't BEHIND you.
I just bought this yesterday. The black border doesn't glare really bad like you think it does. It looks the same as the main screen. The power button being on the bottom hasn't bothered me at all as it's pretty close to where your thumb would normally rest. But this isn't an issue at all if you buy a cover which has auto wake when you open it. There is no such thing as "completely truly fully anti glare" except for a black hole. I've tested it with the sun behind me, and I can still read pretty well. The matte screen does really well of not being reflective. Barely leaves fingerprints as well. And it isn't false advertisement. It requires common sense to know that everything reflects light or it would be invisible. This doesn't glare like glass or plastic, it glares a little more than a real book does.
They make screen protector for the border is you want to cover it or make it matte.
Buy a basic Kindle in denim: not waterproof and smaller but no glare at all.
How much is it plz ?
$100
But what about PDFs!!
It works well for me. I have so many pdf and the last kindle I had was paperwhite that I bought in 2018 so it's 2-3 generations ago. At that time the screen size isn't very good for pdf because it's just slightly too small for PDFs and it's a hassle to zoom in every page. Now even if it's only 0.8 inch bigger screen, it feels much much better for PDFs and I don't need to zoom in anymore
apparently you can also convert pdfs to the kindle format which makes them more readable or something
The best way to send PDFs from your phone is to install the Kindle app on your phone. Press on the PDF file in your File folder and press the Send To icon. One of the options you get will be the Kindle icon. Ensure that the Add to Library button is on, so that the file will appear on your actual Kindle and not just on the app. IMPORTANT. click the arrow next to 'Keep original layout' and choose 'make layout adjustable'. This makes the text in the PDF behave like any other Kindle text. You would only not use this if you had loads of charts etc in your PDF which were more important than the text.
What did you wish you knew before you had bought it?
I’ve never heard someone pronounce chassis “chass-iss”
How the heck are you pronouncing chassis?
Can you still play chess on it?
no. its just an ereader
@@user-hj1rs2pk8o oh I remember on the first one it had chess
Me? I prefer Papyrus…
Bluetooth is not supported
2021 some models have Bluetooth
Can i read comics on this ?
Yes. There’s even comics to read on Kindle Unlimited.
Have you not heard the word chassis before? No hate bro, I probably do it with something, but look it up
Why its kinda laggy
It’s a e reader with e ink, this is pretty fast for what it is
im a native spanish speaker, what the hell is an ounce?
Looks like there is absolutely no development in epaper technology. It's a joke that this device looks equivalent to the ones from 5 years ago, still with the annoyingly low screen refresh rate and flashing, no color ability, etc.
People want it to be the same
Yeah, I have one from 2015. Still looks the same.
Isn't this just an expensive Amazon Fire tablet? :/
Getting the kindle was like going 20 years in the past to those palm pilots.
no mentioning on taking notes highlighting text etc
The input lag is so jarring
Hamas does not approve your book choice 😂
why they choose to make it to black&White
Books in general have white paper and black printing. What's the problem?
Lol what are you talking about son
It’s e-ink display
My thoughts exactly! I like a colored cover and it helps me select a book in my library. What if I’m looking at an art book?
@walkerhjk and what about kids books. General doesnt speak for all audiences. Should at least be an option
Did he actually say chas-sis? 🤦♂️
Not good for PDF
Why shout?

Chassis 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦
Why buy this when you can have a larger android tablet that does the same thing.
Less distracting
@@zunbun9484 🙄
@@zunbun9484 May I ask what you mean by less distracting. Are they many ads on Android? Thanks
No blue light, longer battery life, lightweight, cheaper (less risk bringing it to the beach/somewhere it could be stolen)
Its garbage ! Cant even have a nice background colour !!! Just white . I use my cheap tablet ...Much better than kindle.
