    The etf SCHD is basically an index fund of strong companies that pay out dividends. It only has an expense ratio of 0.06% and has performed well since it came about 10 or so years ago. I highly recommend people consider adding it to their portfolio. With enough time, you can use those dividends later in life to largely live off of without touching the principle.

    • @HildaBennet
      @HildaBennet Месяц назад +2

      I’m sorry if this comes across as offensive, I really don’t mean for it to be but, if you dont know how to add stocks into your portfolio, you need to learn a lot more basics before you even pick anything to invest in.

    • @DaliaCohen2230

      Dividends from the stock market encouraged me to begin investing. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and make additional passive income in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can provide that benefit for your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested more than “$600K” in dividend stocks through my asset manager and will continue to do so until the price falls even further.

    If you want to attract new, young investors, $85 can be a lot for some. This split makes sense if they are trying to attract younger investors. Interesting how this happened not long after the rate cut. I think Schwab is ahead of the game here, trying to attractive some of the Billions of dollars of capital currently sitting in money markets that will be coming back in to the market over the next year as rates come down.

      You need a third party to help you out. Travel is a small but important part of that overall puzzle. Start with an annual budget for socializing and travel - $15,000 per year is a figure I picked out of the sky - and see how you get on with that over time. Agree to remain open to further conversations about adjusting that figure upwards or downwards.
      (From an asset allocation perspective, given the current rate environment, you can somewhat have your cake and eat it too)

    Being an ETF this will do far less to the share price than even the tiny amount a company split affects those shares.
    An ETF price is all based on the underlying assets. A split and money pouring in won't change that to any significance because the prices of the underlying assets won't be affected by the (relatively) tiny new investments at the time of the split.

      it is obvious that you dont have any experience in covered calls. Schwab ETFs have little to none option volume. Even Vanguard which has 10x the AUM dont have any option volume. They dont even have weekly contracts... Where SPY & QQQ you can sell options DAILY...
