Have a walk with us as we take a look at the Steel City of Sheffield
A lot has changed in the city of Sheffield England. There is much redevelopment, building work and changes taking place right now so I thought you'd like to spend some time looking around the city streets and the main tourist attractions, and most popular parts of Sheffield City Centre.
Sheffield City Centre (or Sheffield Town Centre as most Sheffielders refer to it) has moved a little from retail shops and shopping to a more office and residential based city centre. Rather than it being a hub for markets and shops, these days more buildings are opening up to apartments, office space, and independent creative businesses.
One thing that hasn't changed though is the warm friendly nature of the people here. You won't find a welcome as warm and friendly as that of the people in Sheffield Yorkshire.
We begin our Sheffield England Tour on West Street, popular with Students at Sheffield University due to the great bars and hangout places where the Sheffield students meet up, hang out, and eat and drink.
This tour shows off the very best of Sheffield England, including Division Street, Victoria Quays and Canal Basin, Fitzalan Square, The Moor, Chapel Walk as well as places that are closing or closed down such as Debenhams and John Lewis (known as Cole Brothers too in Sheffield).
Sheffield is a city we know well, so we'll show you all the main places, tell you what they are, give you a little bit of info on what's happening there and give you a good idea of how to get around the city (you'll see the Supertram system in operation too)
Sheffield is really great city so hopefully you enjoy this 4K walking tour with us. It was a labour of love making this one!

Also, you never know how many people would watch your videos again and again in the hope of a glimpse of their loved lost ones. Here part times are available or not
Left Sheffield 1962 for Australia and later the United States. These 'video walks' are fantastic and for an hour or so I feel as though I've actually been there in person. In this particular visit I recall some of the names and recognize an occasional old building but almost everything else has changed.

@@GimbalWalkTV I haven't seen the before, yet it has the dead building look of Sydney and Melbourne. Would be nice to try your fish and chips, plus Devonshire tea. Have an expat site on Facebook and they write that the English do them better.
A lot of the classical architecture has been replaced with modern glass monstrosities.
@@adammiller84 Bollocks. Most of the 'classical' architecture that was lost post war happened during the 60's.
Hi, just watched the video on Sheffield, brilliant and well done, the picture place that is now a bingo hall in between Pond st and Fitzalan Sq was the Odeon.
I left for Australia in 1968, and have been back several times, but never seen Sheffield in such splendour, thanks for a great video and great memories.

I was on a train to Scotland from London back I August of 1981. My brother was with me. He got tired, so we stopped off in Sheffield. I left him at the B and B across from the rail station while I skipped off to a nearby pub for a few pints of Sheffield Wards Best Bitter. After I finished my first, roughly 6 guys came in, so I went up to them, asked them about the town, bought them a round, and had a wonderful time. Went for Chicken Tandoori afterwards. Very friendly people. Very much want to go back. I hope I do, for Sheeffield holds a special place in my ♥.
What a beautiful change! The city of my youth. I miss it so much and can hardly recognize it.
I loved it. The tour is cool (weather helps) but the text is really explicative without being too much or too overwhelming. Great job :)
As an International student once, nostalgia hits hard on this one. My teacher used to say that you get strong legs living in Sheffield since it's a hilly city, and weekends were sometimes spent in Meadowhall xD I was there in 2015 glad to see it evolving.

I went to Sheffield for an athletics competition a couple of years ago, and was completely oblivious to how stunning the rest of the city was, so thank you for this video. I'm sure it'll be amazing once all the regeneration is complete and people are confident enough to start going out again in numbers. I will definitely be back!
I was there as a university student in the mid 90s. Used to go to the Moor a lot for my shopping. Debenham was my favourite. I loved the display at House of Fraser. So luxurious. It was so much fun. Sweet memories. Having watched this video, everything looks so different. I can't recognised those places anymore. Sheffield changed so much. My last visit to this city was in Dec 2011. It already changed a lot.
I left Sheffield with my parents 71 years ago, but still love it, I miss al the young friends I once had. A great video. Wish you could explore the Snig-Hill area.

I had to move back to Germany due to Covid, but I lived in Sheffield for 4 years. It's amazing and scary to see how much has changed in the past year. Thank you so much for making these videos! What a great film! I was born and bred in Sheffield I left in 2008 and boy it's changed! Not sure if I like some of it.
The cinema was the Odeon and showed the Sound of Music for years! oh the canal basin or Victoria Quays that is really changed! Thank you again
Really enjoyed seeing the City again; I was a student in Sheffield in the 80s so much has changed I have fond memories of The Limit, that is now gone; also Broomhill and the University ; loved all the parks, and my time living in Walkley/Crookes

I have been to Sheffield last year, as my daughter was studying at the University. It is an amazing city, I had a very good time, we went almost in every place you walked, but also in Kelham Island and museum, which I missed through your walk. Another time,I hope to see it. I am from Sheffield! I left for London in 1976 and am amazed by the changes,but also lots I remember the 02 white building used to be the top rank suite were I worked as a barman in 1973 happy day's.

Brilliant! Lived in Chesterfield (8 miles away) 68 years and never knew about the canal. Used to go drinking at the 'Beer Keller' when I was younger.

I have lived in Sheffield all my life and I think the city has become so run down the moor is full of spice heads and shops have closed .... but looking at this great video , I realise how nice the city looks and it seem so big . Think you take it for granted when it’s in front of you. Loved the video think it showed off Sheffield very good

I’ve live in Sheffield all my life 50 years I’ve seen it change dramatically see things come and go like hole in road Barry nobles Roxy nite club, very good video by the way and I’ve never been down to quays can’t believe it but I will now , but I wish it could be a bit more like Leeds or Liverpool fantastic cities, but our council think like a small town, Sheffield is were football was invented and got the oldest club in the world, you’ve got to utilise that make the rest of the world come and see thanks again....

I hardly recognise Sheffield any more. I left the area in 2003 to live in Melbourne, Australia. Many glorious times spent in my youth in Sheffield; I worked at Middlewood Hospital, and frequented the Leadmill, the Limit Club, The Wapentake. Oh, Glory Days.
I live in the old Middlewood Hospital grounds now - it's a lovely place to live. Nice and quiet and peaceful

Been to the Crucible for the past six years before lockdown for covid. Have missed last years snooker and I will miss this years as well , Love Sheffield and it’s warm people, have al ready booked fir next year...can’t wait to get back and visit the wee pub The Brown Bear just behind the Head of Steam...some great times there. A few hours from Dundee on the train but it’s worth it.

The peace gardens have change a lot, I scattered my father's ashes there back in 1964.
I've been to Sheffield a couple times mainly coming to watch the speedway at Owlerton. I definitely need to come soon and explore the city more.

Yes it is, Owlerton is one of my favourite away tracks to visit. I am definitely going to look into plans for visiting in the summer when we've all got a bit more freedom.

It’s nice when you do a local video but I barely recognise the place. I rarely go into town these days and struggle to find the shops I want cos the have moved from one end to the other. Great video though and such a lovely day. The canal is much improved and we do hope to try the restaurant barge in the near future . You need to do eccy road as even that’s changed over the last 12 months. Keep on walking 😀

no, am from new zealand. i heard it is famous its steel, and boasts a former sliversmiths, as seen on gordon ramsay's kitchen nightmares. i reckon it's an industrial city, but in a good way, like cambridge. also, a piazzaish city, which is awesome! i'd prefer a barge to an apartment. i didn't know sheffield had them. i absolutely love it!

whoa sunny sheffield. So much construction down in cambridge st., can barely recognize it now, used to be one of my favourite drinking hole. I studied at the University in the late 70s

No never been. I've been up to Nottingham and that was it. I'm from Thailand by the way and we still go to the pub in Bangkok whose the owner is from Sheffield! He's very proud of his city ;) The best English pub food in Bangkok plus its unusual to hear the accent outside the UK..

Regarding Victoria Quays, I went there when it was first opened up/renovated about 25 years ago? It looks like it's come a long way since then. Have there been ongoing improvements to the area since then or was I half asleep when I first looked around it? 😂

live in Sheffield and love it. The one and only problem is Meadowhall which has sucked the life out of retail and at the moment the city centre is absolutely diabolical for shopping and I'm talking pre-covid too.
I've only been to Sheffield once, I was going to look at the National Centre for Popular Music but I think it was shut down. Do you know if they do mini-bus tours of the locations from The Full Monty?

I saw Arthur Scargil giving a speech on the steps of the city hall when i was about 13 had no clue what about at the time
There were some massive crowds for that wasn’t there! I saw fooatage of it on RUclips and it was crazy!
