Stop all transfers of property except between family members who can show they are first cousins or closer to those who are selling. The only exception would be to heirs listed in wills filed before the fires. No sales to off islanders unless they can prove they meet the same conditions. There are people who loft the islands that are going to be next of kin and legitimate heirs of wills that predate the fires. Families first, all others wait in line

A fire siren would’ve worked. Even if some people thought it was a tsunami at first as soon as they went outside they’d see it was for fire and they’d figure out which way to run away from it. The purpose of an emergency siren isn’t to get people to go mauka, but it’s to get their attention. Maybe they were sleeping or using headphones and have no idea what’s happening. Sirens would notify them there’s an emergency and then they’d smell or see fire.

The vultures are already circling around Lahaina. The corporate powers and government has always wanted to control the lands of these indigenous people. I don’t know why anyone would think it’s crazy, simply based on the history of the islands, that this is a LAND GRAB!
And Joe is probably sniffing a kid and having some ice cream and getting his bum wiped. He’s a degenerate, and so are all the war pigs in government that put billions and trillions into endless wars based on lies while these people get a 700$ check.

I will be incredibly surprised if more than a couple *(4-5?)* bodies are recovered from Lahaina that can be recognized as actual human beings. The temperatures in the Lahaina fire once it reached the town proper approached 3,000°Fahrenheit. That's hot enough to melt steel *(and most other metals),* as well as glass. Those kinds of temperatures are more than sufficient to render a human body unrecognizable. Even if the burnt human remains are somewhat in the shape of a recognizable human, the recovery teams will have to be insanely careful and very deliberate in how they handle the remains, as they will be prone to crumbling and breaking apart.
Something that I have not heard mentioned yet is are the extremely negative psychological effects that the recovery process will have on the teams working to recover the victims. Another thing that people tend to forget is that the cadaver dogs being employed to find victims are very sensitive animals who are finely attuned to the psyches of the live humans around them, and these dogs need comforting and downtime away from the process of finding dead human beings.
The loss of life from the Lahaina wildfire is going to approach 1,000 people when the recovery process is finally brought to a finish.
This wildfire disaster is going to be the greatest loss of life outside of wartime that the United States has suffered since the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

The Government will step in and take the Land. 😮 Wake up
Eminent domain refers to the power of the government to take private property and convert it into public use, referred to as a taking. The Fifth Amendment provides that the government may only exercise this power if they provide just compensation to the property owners. A taking may be the actual seizure of property by the government, or the taking may be in the form of a regulatory taking, which occurs when the government restricts a person’s use of their property to the point of it constituting a taking.

@@Plutogalaxy I don’t have a prefab company. I have visited and lived in rural regions across America that have a nearly impossible time bringing in construction crews to put up stick built homes. They purchase prefabricated homes that can be hauled in on a couple of semis and put together remarkably quickly. Because these are built in a climate controlled factory, they can be built better. They are brought to location completely finished, down to wallpaper and flooring, ready to move into. Just add furniture and tchotchkes. These are not death trap mobile homes. I think they’re a practical housing solution for those who can’t wait for crews to rebuild their homes.

incredibly ironic take but i dont blame you, heres the reality.
“I’m already thinking of ways for the state to acquire that land so that we can put it into workforce housing, to put it back into families, or make it open spaces in perpetuity as a memorial to the people who were lost,” Green said (aka for the government to take ownership).
he also conveniently passed legislation 8 days before the fires changing amounts and interest rates of loans in the case of a "natural" emergency. Not to mention no sirens, cut off water supply and barricading/coaxing people toward the fires. the most logical answer is that it was done on purpose if you just look at the objective facts and its truly baffling that some people support the very people that stand to gain from this tragedy but that isnt uncommon to some (not all) on the left.

The governor is absolutely correct - speaking from numerous experiences with disasters - local help comes first - neighbors helping neighbors, local people donating stuff, then the local/state government gets involved in relief, then the feds pitch in - this is the natural sequence - no government has piles of clothes, toiletries, water, and food at hand and those are people's immediate needs. From what I have seen, the relief in Lahaina has gone very well - maybe not perfect but nobody is perfect.
