I will be hiding it on a table among other Halloween props. I usually put my projectors inside a styrofoam box (with ventilation) and cover the box with Halloween-themed cloth and accessories.
so can it be close to ground level? or will the keystone be off too much you think?i'd like to think of something more creative , maybe one of those nice fake pumpkins hollowed out in back to fit the projector in but it would be nearly at ground level
I was thinking the same thing. We throw a huge Halloween party every year at our house and bought a projector for this but never could figure out how we should set it up.
Were do u put projector the placement from within ur garage ?? Or does it have to me from outside on lawn or elsewhere? My neibors have some device they project from inside to be shown on outside of door which make it realistic no projector u can see or any device only images on garage door. Im looking for something similar .just imagine a tric or treater steling ur projector .omg. any suggestions
Thank you so much for sharing this. I straight away ordered a projector and will be getting thos evidence files. This is my first year ever (I’m 47) handing out candy for Halloween and my set up with this will hopefully have kids scared to death! Or at least very interested. 😂😂😂
I'm curious how you hid the projector though, like I'm thinking of projecting it through my car windo onto the garage door and playing the sound through the ring camera? Would that work?
They DO have some child friendly stuff as well. I project the kiddie ones more so to the front of the house and the scarier ones on the side, so as to not scare the little ones.
And every year Atmosfx comes out with new videos, this year alone they added like five other different scenes :) AND they have them for ALL holidays as well!!!
OMG!!!! Absolutely FREAKING AWESOME!!! This is what I'm going to DO this year for MY BORING garage! It's ALWAYS mission Impossible. Thank you....I'm so excited now. I have a movie projector but think I'll shop around for a small inexpensive one just for this outdoor project. Thanks again. :-)

Do you think being able to put your projector in your car would still work and shoot it through the windshield? I'd like to try it but I don't wat my projector damaged or stolen.
I got a high resolution BenQ projector and it doesn’t play sound like this, did you have to add speakers too? This looks amazing! Also do you ever have to worry about your equip getting stolen?
Yes, I added external speakers. Projector speakers aren't really loud enough for outdoor effects. When this is set up I'm generally outside and near any expensive equipment. Plus, I like interacting with the visitors :)
Nova Halloween thank you, I bought a set of Yamaha outdoor speakers to go into the BenQ projector but can’t figure out for the life of me how to hook them up. I’m really bummed so I think for this year it will just be the projector (It doesn’t look near as good as yours does, mine I bought tulle fabric in black and it has a hard time projecting through it. (I have it set up inside playing all the AtmosFX DVD’s) just going to play around with it more after Halloween and hopefully will get it fine tuned. ;)
Very cool. Unfortunately, if I left my projector out in the driveway it wouldn't take more than 5 min for someone to walk away with it along with everything else. Even I was willing to sit outside to keep watch, my projector wouldn't like the freezing cold temperatures. I resort to window projections, not as cool as this but better than nothing.
Thanks! Window projections can get great reactions too. Luckily we usually have pretty decent weather for Halloween, but I usually have a backup plan in case of bad weather!
You can open your garage and tape some cheap thin white plastic table cloths together then project from behind. This is what I did when I had a garage 👍🏻 works the same for windows.
@@amandagiese9218 I am in Canada. It's too cold inside the garage even with the garage door down, let alone leaving it up. The downside of living in cold country, can never wear skimpy Halloween costumes, best to dress up as a polar bear. 🤣
Think I'm going to open my garage put plastic over the opening then project from the inside. Leaving a projector outside in any neighborhood is dangerously dumb.
how did you do the last part with the moving light? the effect seemed to have no light of its own but there was a spotlight moving around and the effect didnt move with it.
So once you download it to the usb, does it plug into the projector itself in order to play the downloaded clips? I’m trying to see how to do this without laptop plugged in etc
Some projectors have a usb port to play video from a thumb drive. His didn't have that on his projector so that was what the mall black box did in the beginning of his video. It converts a use port to an hdmi video out.
The media player in the video has worked well for a few years now. There is no real brand name, but all the generic ones on ebay are essentially identical. I think they typically cost about $30.
Why do all these modern projectors go black before they show the next repat of the video? Is it just because they are made cheaper? My UltraProjector from a kickstarter 7 years ago was $180 and it only plays AVI files but you see NO artifacts when it repeats at all and starts showing the video immediately when you give the projector power. WTF!!?? I cant find any of these old ones on ebay either.
This looks super cool, giving projection a go this year :) My concern with this effect is leaving my garage door open. We get thousands of kids on our block and I wouldn’t want my tools to walk away.
Nova Halloween fair enough, I thought I saw a usb slot on the back of you’re projector, and that would save a lot of mucking around with media players and extra cables you wouldn’t need.
True, it does have a USB slot but unfortunately the projector does not have native support for video playback. This is definitely a feature I would want in a new projector.
Nova Halloween I am just watching videos on the UHappy U80 and the GP 70 UP projectors they both have SD playback and they seem perfect for these digital display videos and the price is cheap as chips.
Seems a bit cheesy for an AtmosFEAR FX product. The bright circle on the door ruins the entire effect. Can't tell if its part of the program or a result of the projector throwing the image onto the door. Where did you have the projector? The effect obviously isn't a rear projection, so it must be front projected which may be why you are seeing the bright circle on the door.
Does this come with the sound file already on the DVD or SD card ? I have been reading that some don't and I don't know enough to put the sound with the video.
Okay! It's a pretty cool effect, but you titled the video as a _"How to..."_ guide, without providing instructions on *_HOW TO..._* actually do it. Best type of projector to use
You could also open the garage door, hand a sheet and shoot it from the back. Lot safer for the kids walking up...

Reminds me of "A Nightmare On Elm Street" when Freddy is trying to come through the wall while Nancy is sleeping.

Not if the projector can also play video files. However, sometimes there is a USB connection but not necessarily support for video.

I wish it had a portion in the video at the end where the material rip and a monster stepped out
My roof overhangs top of garage door about 3 feet. Can the projector be fastened under roof overhang, or is that too close?
