- Roy Blount, Jr. promotes his book Camels Are Easy, Comedy's Hard, but then Bill Murray drops by and takes over the interview.
Later in the show, Martin Scorsese promotes his new film "Cape Fear," and in the next segment, his mom Catherine makes pizza. Bill Murray again lurks and is invited to the stage.
Idk why but Martin's mom appearing made me so happy
Yeah I always liked her so much
Yes. She was a gem.
She was delightful.
For me the scene in Goodfellas where Henry, Jimmy and Tommy walk into to Tommy’s mothers house and made a feast in the middle of the night. That is how my grandma was
She's one of those people who brings happiness. I would have loved to sample her cooking
“He comes dressed up in clothes! Whatsamatter with you?!” 😂😂😂
Haha, she's just lovely ❤
Bill Murray’s face at the end with the pizza being bomb as hell 😂
If Scorsese was growing up today, I'm convinced he'd be making RUclips videos with his mom.
FlyingOverTr0ut oh man I could only imagine :( “Cooking with the Scorseses” and they play Italian music in the background
no way. hahaha
I would tune in, esp to get her recipe for that pizza. It looks outstanding and judging by Murray's reaction, it is.
Guy's if you haven't seen it already check out thos documentary Martin made about his mother and father ruclips.net/video/bxYl93p0ksc/видео.html
FlyingOverTr0ut well he’d probably be a great film maker
You could tell Martin is proud to show off his mother.
"What was Martin like? Martin was a gem...always...a very good boy." Mother love. You can never get enough of it, including Martin Scorsese.
"He comes dressed up in clothes... whatsamatta with you!?"
SgtTravisBickle I love that 💕💕💕💯💯💯💯😂
That bit reminds of of Bullwinkle's alma mater, "Wottsamatt U" !
Scorsese's documentary of his mom and dad is so wonderful!! Marty's mother's is such a gem to watch and listen to, as well as his dad. I have a feeling that Catherine had the final say in the Scorsese household!!
That documentary was not long enough.
"The Irishman 2: I Heard You Make Pizzas."
Tenderfoot Prepper 😆👍🏻👍🏻
Bravo sir.
"I also do my own dish washing!" :))
Mama Scorsese is such an angel
She looks more like an easy-trigerred italian grandma.
The master and his mom. Couldn't get any better.
God I love that scene in Goodfellas, mama Scorsese is on a parr with those three amazing actors, pure Gold ❤
This has always been and will definitely be the very scene that all Italian Americans from New Jersey anticipate being always with their mother cooking for them and taking good care of them as their guardian angel anywhere anytime.
I am Italian (not American Italian), and watching Scorsese's mom making pizza is identical to my mom and aunts! Love her.
R.I.P. Catherine Scorsese. It would have been beautiful have her as mother.
Or even a friend or a neighbor
all the power came from the mother! just look at her power and energy at her age! one hell of a person! she makes Scorsese look small! incredible!
Mama Scorsese was ALWAYS the highlight of every film she was in...best scenes in Goodfellas, King of Comedy..she was the original OG & the real deal (check out his film 'Italian American' which features his parents). Simply 'da best.' rip
She also has a very funny role in casino.
Its so relatable with his parents pricless
I am here after The Irishman... my appreciation for everyone in this video is beyond anything and I really cannot put it into words!! Down to earth people with great sense of humor .. RARE
If you ever have a chance to watch Marty’s short on Italian Americans worth a watch. Great parents telling great stories. I have a half Italian ethnic background and so many similarities of how wonderful it was growing up with their generation.
Aggree
I love his mom❤. She is so funny
"How do you get red sauce out of a white shirt..." has stayed with me for close to 30 years...
Yes, how do you?
What,... the stain? Or the comment?
I still say that to people every once in a while. 😂
The food in Goodfellas is instrumental that the entire of The Sopranos is full of food scenes.
I love Mum Scorsese. She is fabulously traditional. 💕He really is his mothers son. 😊 it’s lovely.
Classic old-time Italian mom. They don't make em like that anymore.
"Bill do you have a question for Mr. Scorsese?"
"Ya, how do you get red sauce out of a white shirt?"
Omg heeeeeeeeeee
18:47 "Whatsa madda with you??" Oh my GOD what a treasure!
Thank you for this!!
I didn’t know I needed Bill Murray today…. But here we are!
Bill Murray almost seems to be taking revenge on Blount for something… he utterly demolished him here imo
4:15 I never knew I would need this today, let alone replay it 5 times 😂
One never knows when Murray's going to show up.
Right?! Started this far back apparently.
@@jenhasken Exactly, this being the first of many "sightings" 😂
But poor Roy Blunt ... looks confused walking off the stage at the very end and never did get to do his interview .
@@gardensofthegods That's right, while Murray hangs around and gets invited back in to the next segment....this time more respectful. No one messes with Signora Scorsese!
Bill Murray is a comic genius.
We must have seen different clips
Bill Murray is an a$$hole.
Bill Murray is just slinking around and I love it
Barbecue sauce
Lay it on, Hoss.
Great memories of reading Roy Blount Jr when I was young, maybe 1982(?) One Fell Soup.
Mrs Scorsese was a gem. Adorable!🤣🤣
Letterman looks like a giant next to Martin & his mother 😅
She’s a gem!
Omg how did we get so far from this- witty, comical, engaging banter, to the sycophantic pandering of the Jimmies?!
You may have. We got Graham Norton here :)
letterman aint that great either. hes a creep
Let's just give Leno a 4th show already
sycophantic is a pretty big word; are you use that's the one you meant to use? Quick, you've had two years to think about it!
@@Anthony-hu3rj sycophantic is an apt description of the late night Jimmies. Obsequious and fawning work as well.
Omg!!!
I did not know she was his mother!!!!
She’s adorable and so funny!!!!!!!
There's a documentary called Italian-American... both of his parents are in it. You would love it!
SgtTravisBickle
Thank you for that!!!!
Remember when we use to laugh? Ah the good ol days. Love Marty and his Mama
The good old days.
He looks just like his mom❤️
She must be so proud.
That scene she was in was brilliant and his mother had a certain turn and motion to her head and body mannerisms that really was amazing. Well done and good choice, yes was his mother
I love Mrs. Scorsese!
The sweet grandma I never had
How I miss this man and his show.
I get so excited every time I see a Bill upload and it never disappoints! Thanks for this one!
Its sad to know sh is no longer here a true shining star
Man, this is GOLD.
Next time she could bring one of her paintings.
Its him!!
Letterman, Bill Murray and Scorsese in the same studio. Imagine the trouble those three could get into.
finnibert lunchiken Can I be a part of that trouble?!!? Count me in !!!
if by trouble you mean cocaine...
@@MacIntoshMann well it was the early 90s
That eye roll from Bill! You know that was a delicious bite of pizza.
Thank you so much for this
Just like my nonna, sure do miss her
Scorsese speaks as his mother 😂
Don this was a real treat, it filled my writers soul with a heavenly euphoria, how true and wonderful Roy and Bill and Davey were here, it's moments like these which are long lost landmarks of a genre Letterman's Late Night was the pinnacle of
I hope you don't write in the same style as your comment. 😉
Philip at Tube 😂
classic murray face at end with pizza lol
These were great days
She's such a sweetheart ❤
Greatness- thanks for sharing.
Bill Murray amazing on this
Late night shows were absolutely better back in the day. Now it's just a vehicle to promote new projects.
You know that pizza was amazing.
Goddamn that pizza looks good
Proudly Italian!
Letterman is brilliant, nobody can handle bill Murray the way he does .and with Scorsese’s mom .. could you imagine the same interaction on Leno or Fallon ?!
Pizza sauce would have been all over that station from Fallon smacking it while fake laughing. Thank god we never had the pleasure of seeing that.
Conan
I was madly in love with Bill Murray around this time (I was 11) and I can still see why.
Omfg!!!! Me too!!!! I was 8 and had the biggest crush on him- so crazy that I wasn’t alone!!!!
Catherine Scorsese should have a cookbook of her own.
That poor guy trolled out of his mind.
Bill Murray is a genius of a humourist.
Yep arrogance and rudeness are funny..but he's a prick
what a sweetheart she was
Murray and Blount remind me of the Farley and McCartney skit on SNL.
If you look closely Bill almost cracks up after asking "Uhhh how do you do it?"
not sure Blount ever recovered
thanks for putting again this video on youtube
A beetz! ahhh love her
There's good mums and bad mums, then there's universal mums that everyone feels could be their mum. That's Scorsese's mum.
"So what - One Pissa Raw - One Pissa Cooked - Whaddaya want from me?"
Marty scorsese talks so fast
whenever i see this darling woman i just smile so much😇
Catherine Scorsese was a wonderful person!
Bill Murray in a scene directly from What About Bob.
RO'K
What is this, some kind of radical new therapy?
Fakename70 Death Therapy
I wish I was in the audience for this episode - I can see they're having a blast and yeah that pizza looks good!
another good one Dave
Bill Murray is a natural
I would've liked to hear that "Flaubert in Egypt" story.
I’m sad Robin is gone. Thank God Bill is still around. The man
This is Best video "show" ever
Good ole ITALIANO MOMS with SPUNK !😛👍🏻
shes the best
Moma is the best. Lively. Fun.
Murray, Charlrs Grodin, M Short, best guests ever
She was so great. So funny.
❤️❤️❤️
18:06. Perfection.
What a sweet woman.. she reminds me if my nana…
I like that , one slice of eggplant looking one way and the other looking the other way ...
"Henry, what's the matter with you? You don't talk much"
She was Goodfellas
Catherine seems like such a nice lady. I dont know if she is still with us. I will have to check.
Passed away January 6, 1997. She was 84.
@@dongiller R.I.P.🙏❤️🍝
Scorsese speaks so fast it almost sounds sped up😂its awesome
Pizza looks delicious
