Thank you Sue, have just been reading up on some of the Hume family. A lot of history there, still going to try to follow up on that Family Crest, but it's of multiple families that have intermixed along the way. The family Crest which Volanto is Italian more than Latin, so not getting very far at the moment plus I have misplaced my Latin/English dictionary. As always you find such interesting places, so this will be looked at again in the near future. I am having eye surgery tomorrow so will catch up with you soon. Thank you for this interesting inside look at the mausoleum. Clever girl, so discrete 😊 love it. 💕🇦🇺
Hi Sue. Love the gothic style of the church & mausoleams. The cript, reminds me of a little fairy house lol. Love the shape & the gorgeous coat of arm design. It is so nice. Some of the headstones are so unique especially the anchor stone. Great video & thanks for the tour x 👊
I loved watching this!! I think it is very nice to have an entire family in one plot, and all the information on one headstone. This is another beautiful church and cemetery!!
Great Video 🤝💯👊😎🤘Loved Watching This. Another Beautiful Church and Cemetery. Keep Up The Great Work 👍👍Great to see the information of the Families on The Headstones.
The monuments are beautiful & the sayings are just as incredible. @Serenity Sue- your voice is so soothing & engages the viewer. Thank you so much for your time, efforts, and dedication.
Enjoyed the premiere Sue and the only thing I can find out about the coat of arms is that it was the Westby family motto neither wishing nor flying ( nec volenti nec volanti ) hope this helps but I'll keep looking
Nice, clear video Sue. Curious about burial mound though! Too bad there aren't any drawings of what the construction of these was like. Enjoyed this premiere.
Wow Sue! Where there’s a will there’s a way! Eh? Well done managing to “find” a way to get down to the door of that mausoleum….such a large place from the outside, and inside appears to have quite a large number of various family members, with sone spaces left! I think when we see stain glass outside we expect and hope to see the inside all sparkling with jewel like colours..but the sun wasn’t being helpful that day. And another HUGE crypt mound outside too…makes you wonder how large the family actually was and when the mound was originally excavated. You did wonderfully well Sue, as always. Don’t know many people from my school days who learnt Latin, although my mother, born 1920 had to learn Latin AND Greek when she won a scholarship to go to a girls High School in Lancashire. I’m thinking maybe the Latin could have proved helpful as she went on to train as a nurse later, but not Greek. Thankyou for a fascinating walk once again Sue..you always do us proud. Love Helen 🙋♀️😘👏🏻👏🏻😘xx💐🙏🙏
According to Fairbairn's Book of Crests from 1905, the family crest is that of the Wisterbey family. The Latin translates as "Neither to me wishing nor flying".
The church of Ireland churches and graveyards are always so lovely and well kept. I bought myself a couple of torches..😅 I plan I hope to take a road trip to some old graveyards for us here in America. I really want to search out civil war graves. I really enjoyed this video and the mausoleum is as big as a small house. Glad you had good weather. I wonder where there the Hume family got their wealth? Be blessed ...till next time.❤😊❤😊
Thanks for the video sue Love watching your videos my grandpa Hogan came over from Cork Ireland so your videos are always very interesting i’m always looking for HOGAN‘s and your videos LOL
GDAY SUE ANOTHER GREAT DAY AND LOCATION TOO STRANGE THOSE OLDER STONES HELD UP BETTER THAN THE OTHERS , AND THOSE MAUSOLEUMS WERE REALLY INTERESTING TOO TAKE CARE LUVVVV😉😁
Thank you Sue, this was so clear. I really would have loved to see the inside of the Church, mind you there will I hooe be a later video at some point showing us the inside I hope. This is a well kept beautiful Graveyard, many sailors buried there. R.N. stands for Royal Navy by the way. I would love to know more on the history of these people as their headstones show so much love in the verses on them. Thank you again Sue you did so well, great presentation. 💕🇦🇺
Just a thought to add. A Family Coat of Arms doesn't't have a motto underneath. The Family Crest does. These are very different to each other in any family. The Coat of Arms was mainly worn in battle or shown on a shield depicting the trade or origin of the family name. The Family Crest however displays more of the victories or achievements by the family and has a motto underneath plus a display above such as a hand in gauntlet or feathers in a plume etc. 💕🇦🇺
Wow that’s one of the biggest mausoleums I have seen. They we’re certainly a large family.I think you will find the smaller one by the Church could well be also for the same family as it has a dreamt and coat of arms on it .I am not too up on Irish Coates of Armes but if I remember the crown above the Coates of arms with a black bird on it indicates if the bearer was born putting it politely on the wrong side of the sheets of the Royal Family..It’s to do with which way it’s facing..That would date back to the original owner of the Coates of Arms but that will pass through the Male line of the family.I could be wrong.I used to know someone who made flags for these Historical re enactment groups. When someone married the females Coates were added to there’s too.So this would change once a the eldest son Inherited on the death of his Father and so on…It’s very longwinded.I know there’s a record of them all in London I believe ,and if you want to have a new one made it has to be checked there is not one in existence already..The re enactment is fun though lol. I really enjoyed this one Sue ..Thank You…Love n Light 🥰

I love a well kept cemetery, a man by my daughter takes his mower around to look after the small one there
Ahh I love that too ❤️❤️
Know that place well kiltegan worked around that area years ago
Lovely place
The church should have records of tombs and who in them, but difficult for you to get them if they only open sun
Very true Hazel and bit a lot of info online either x
I'm sure someone would clean it out would keep longer as well
Very true ❤️❤️
Bear in mind, in the 1840's
20/30's was middle aged
50/60 was elderly
80/90 was like being 100 today ??
Very true and so may diseases too, thanks fully medical science has moved on
What are the white splotches on the gravestones, bird waste???
Hi, It's called lichen, so a kind of fungus/moss, that grows on headstones, can be white, yellow and even a rusty colour
