I just received my 1953 in the mail three days ago and I am amazed at the feel, heft and quality for $100. I have a Rolex GMTII and it is hard for me to admit this, the 1953 actually feels better on my wrist than the GMTII. I am planing to get the DSSD version from SteelDives.
I've got two, the black dial and bezel and the black with green bezel, the kermit. Great heft, runs fantastic, hits all the minute markers on both. Far and away the best subbie homage under $100, get many compliments too.
Ditto! I think the Kermit is the full green one. The one with a black dial is called Hulk (or Starbucks) if my memory serves me well. Fantastic watches. I could not miss the new grey one!
@RenoLaringo completely right, my bad. Still enjoying my two watches, although the bezel on the Starbucks has gotten very difficult to rotate. Still, incredible value in these Steeldive subbies.

Hello! So I wonder, does that crystal have AR coating or not? I have the Addiesdive quartz, it does have the coating and works great! I’m really hoping this SD1953 does too!
I think they are both great to be honest. I would say the onkly difference could be the bracelet but I don't know for sure as I have the 1970 on a rubber strap. I don't think you can go wrong with either though!
I would rather have many nice watches than one super expensive ego stroker. When I was young and couldn't afford a Rolex, I wanted one. Now I am older and can afford one, I don't want one. I like SEIKO, Oceanus, San Martin, Watch Dives, Steel Dive and God Tier G-Shock, to name a few.
I did order one- I may have gotten a bad case out of QC; mine had a wobbly bezel and the clasp was rough and extremely difficult to close. It left a bad taste in my mouth, but I did note that the lume looked great and the watch felt pretty good. I do have to say that the Loreo homage I bought before this was more comfortable if not quite as pretty. The SteelDive etched caseback bothered me and the bracelet felt much sharper. But this is a decent option it seems.
I have a GMT Master II and can’t manage to get a Sub - no dealers are willing to sell me one - annoying! I am sure in a couple of years as more and more people wear those ridiculous Apple Watches (I have one I wear while exercising and walking with my wife) - I am sure that one day you will be able to get Rolex big for now, I have a San Martin and this watch and I am frankly not interested in paying anymore - I own a Rolex and they aren’t loyal to me so that’s that!
I bought one with black dial and green bezel and dissapointed, the loom is not good some dots glow green some glow blue light and the whole loom glows for only coupe minutes, really dissapointed
I have a sub and even though the cyclops *looks* nicer on the Rolex, I actually prefer the extra magnification on the SD cyclops as it's easier for my shitty eyes to read the date. Also the SD lume pisses all over Rolex.
When we say homage, so we really mean the brand is paying respect to the original? Or they’re just copying and cashing in? I think about a music act covering a song of another artist which they like - I don’t think watch companies are coming from that place. I can’t justify spending for the real thing either. I have a Seiko which is basically a Subby ripoff and I like it because it looks like one. Price of this Steely is amazing. I thought the bezel sounded pretty washy, but the watch looks great, better than my Seiko.
You can buy these for $100, and at a glance people think you are wearing a Rolex. I have a real Rolex, a real Omega, and a Tissot. Most of the time, I wear an Invicta 9937 (SW200) and these Steeldives. They honestly do the job, and look great doing it. Save the money for putting in a real investment rather than overpriced watches.
Homage is a very broad definition. It can cover anything from a direct copy with a logo swap, to something that borrows certain stylistic ideas which people might recognise, but is still clearly a a different watch. I prefer the term "clomage" for the former (a portmanteau of "clone" and "homage") and "homage" for the later. Watch reviewers tend to lump everything in the "homage" category because when you start taking about clones and clomages, they start to wade dangerously into demonetisation territory.
been wearing mine for idk 18 months now, do the dishes in it, shower in it, nothing on it tripped my nickel allergy and it looks the same as it did the day i bought it. Keeps almost Rolex time, looses about a minute and a half a month in winter and a little more in summer, i could change that to gains 1 minute and a half a month if i adjusted it, i know loss is considered unacceptable whereas gain is ok but i dont care enough, some time in that month im going to glance it my pc clock and realize it needs a set so really who cares, im not timing missions in na trang. I genuinely wouldnt thank you for an aluminium bezel insert rolex from the bad old days for any reason beyond acquisitory desire

Just ordered one , I’ll replace the bracelet with the supplied rubber strap ! 👍
Only thing I don’t like on this watch when I got one was the case back is too thick bulges out too much
Other than that it’s perfect
Which submarine brand which homage good watch buy
These watches are Great 👍🏻
New Subscriber here. Great review. Thanks
Thank you and welcome
£48 from AliExpress, incredible price IMO.
Shame the date is over magnified. Otherwise excellent.
I bought the 'Water Ghost' version, excellent watch for peanuts
I went with there version of the SKX
I would rather have many nice watches than one super expensive ego stroker. When I was young and couldn't afford a Rolex, I wanted one. Now I am older and can afford one, I don't want one. I like SEIKO, Oceanus, San Martin, Watch Dives, Steel Dive and God Tier G-Shock, to name a few.
Every watch wants to be a Rolex 😃
Just received mine, and the rubber strap is too big to fit bewtween the lugs.
Hello Sir, I have just ordered one £51.Ged
Hope you enjoy it mate!!
quality and durability close to fossil watches?
I don't have any experience of Fossil...but either way, if someone offered me one over the other, I would take SteelDive every time
It does have micro adjust
Hi, which is better, this watch or Pagani Yachtmaster? Thanks
Steel Dive imo
Smart guy
It has male endlinks. I guess I need to pump more iron to get the watch to fit.
All other reviews say crystal is MINERAL NOT SAPHIRE!
No screw links in the bracelet. Fail.
been wearing mine for idk 18 months now, do the dishes in it, shower in it, nothing on it tripped my nickel allergy and it looks the same as it did the day i bought it.
Imagine being mugged for your Steeldive.
