  • Lil Lefty finally gets the left steering clutch removed! New parts arrive and I spend the day and make a press to remove the pressed-on clutch pack. It took a 1" thick steel plate 2 grade 8 5/8" bolts and a 20-ton porta power to get the job done. Making progress on the 1939 Cat D4 agricultural crawler 4G9986 has never been so much fun and fulfilling.
Used gopro and corel editing software in the creation of this video.
    Thanks for watching!

Don't worry about the machinists, field engineers with portable drill presses, hand drills files and hammers get those carefully, accurate and beautifully made parts actually fit the sometimes not so beautifully and accurately assembled machine they have to fit actually WORK beautifully making everybody look good. 😁

The 20 ton ram did it job perfect. I think you can cut the messed up threads as well but if it is a hardened surface the cutter must be brand new. I can only imagine the money in the parts you had to buy to this thing. At least your area is sunny, I have a blizzard outside and everything is frozen fast on the ground for weeks.

It was a good day and so far I am about $4500 into the project tractor and all. We are expecting more snow next week. Stay warm!
