I recently came across your tutorial and after watching I decided to make it for my teenage granddaughter. The bag came out perfect. I also made a matching face mask. Your measurements and instructions were spot on. I liked it so much I will be making one for myself and daughter. Great job, great comments and new subscriber.
Great tutorial, you thought of everything! Clearly IDing which of the side fabric, using contrasting thread, easy to understand pics and the best part, your narration.... No wait, the best part is it's the absolutely perfect bag. It is exactly the pocket fest I needed. Thank you!
Glad to see that interfacing is not really needed. Fusing each piece to light, medium or heavy interfacing along with wadding, batting, fleece or stabilizer seems confusing and costly. I still haven’t figured out which ones are appropriate for each project. Some tutorials say the padding protects what you’ve placed inside and other tutorials say padding is needed to make the bag stand up. Typically, glasses and electronics already have their own padded case. I wouldn’t want my bag to stand up on a dirty floor. I usually keep my purse on my shoulder, on the back of a chair or place it in my lap. And I’m always thinking of pick pockets. I prefer to have all pockets on the inside. If I kept my wallet, keys or phone in an outside pocket, they could easily be taken when in a crowd. Thanks for presenting zippered pockets that don’t require an extra piece of lining. Love your purse videos! Please do more! I’m looking for reversible shoulder bags that don't require interfacing. I prefer a button closure without a flap. Various pockets inside. Simple, yet functional. You really have the knack of good design!
Thank you sooooo much for this awesome tutorial! I followed it to the letter and came out with an awesome bag for work! I work at a hospital and often I'm running between floors and need my phone... some post its- my business cards and some pens. This has made all my dreams come true!
Awesome, the pace is not too slow/fast, and i think this is my 1st sewing video where i actually laugh instead of cringing at the attempted humor 👏 i love this bag, thanks so much 😍 i might try to add an adjustable strap, wish me luck!
I have watched this video at least ten times in the last two days and I'll probably watch it ten more while attempting to make this bag tomorrow. The two methods you used for the zippers are two I've never tried before, I hope I don't screw it up, but I'm excited and almost can't wait.
I sure wish I had found this before ordering a 17 page PDF pattern online. It is so confusing to me while this is enlightening and just wonderful. thank you, thank you....
OMG!!! Could you have made it look an easier?! I love this bag and plan to make it next as it is exactly what I was looking for, as with you, for short trips, maybe whatever. I love it! Thanks so much for all the humor in you monologue too; you were making me smile the whole time! I am subscribing as we speak....
LOL!!! Thank you so much for your awesome video and I must say you are so humorous and I thoroughly enjoyed it. love your videos!!! I am going to make this bag. Simple and easy instructions. Thumbs up!!!
Excellent tutorial. This was the first I'd seen of your work, and I enjoyed it so much, I've watched it a couple of times, now. This is a great project, and I'm definitely inspired to make this bag. Also really enjoyed your humour - I needed a chuckle this morning. Thanks!
Everything is great except at the beginning it says to cut one strap of each. You don't really mention which strap to cut into two pieces and which one to leave long. I figured it out, just be really specific with every step. Otherwise awesome video! I love it. Thank you for your work.
нι ι just post to say Tfs this Video Tutorial.I'm a newbie to your channel & I also enjoyed watching your video cause of your bubblyness added in between to the video.I like that Anyhow I'm may probably make this bag soon to carry with me whether than carrying the bigger cloth/bags I've made before. Yes I make my own fabric bags to sell as my kind of job (Entrepreneur) which I does called my slow job because I mostly only do it by orders or sometimes make some just for fun incase an event pops-up that I'm interested in; I'll have n more bags on hand that time around. Anyways This bag look like the perfect bag to joking in around the garrison where we lived. Thanks Again for Sharing & I look Forward to Your Reply ASAP. Tags
Great idea - what I've been looking for with different pockets and all. But what is benefit for placing the straps this way? maybe it lays better against your body? (normally I line up with side seams...) Great video, love your technique!!!!
I love this little bag. I made one for my granddaughter and then I made a larger one for myself. Now, I'd like one with a zipper for the main section. Do your have a tutorial showing how to include a top zipper?
First off I love your tutorial, I am a very new sewer. Not sure if I missed this somewhere along the line but what size is the 3rd pocket? in the video I just seen the measurements listed on pocket 1 and 2...Thank YOU!
but what what what if that pocket really wanted to be a zipper pocket! you have limited it's ability sighs. LOL good tutorial and thanks i've been needing one of these something simple and easy to do.
At 3:13 when you are putting in the zipper and cut that piece, how many inches is the top part? And how do the pieces match up if you are taking seam allowances for the zipper attachment? so is that piece 1 inch more? Seems not to correspond to your beginning measurements. thx
The pocket at 3:13 is "Pocket #1" in the beginning diagram with dimensions. The smaller "top piece" is 7" x 2.5". After sewing, it will be the same size as the "main bag"/lining pieces - 7" x 8".
One more..is the reason why you made the fabric loops attached to D rings so long... because you didn't have enough length of fabric for the straps? thx
This is my second attempt at making this bag. The first attempt I didn't watch the video all the way through so I got the measurements mixed up but this attempt I'm confused. In the beginning you have the main linings as 7"x8" but the main bag pieces 7"x6.5". Is it supposed to be 7" or 6.5" long?
@@smarmyclothes in your video everythiing is even. i had to trim everything to size. i get lost because why is the lining 8' long if the bag is only 6.5' long? i feel like I am doing something wrong. i increased the width to 8.5' because i'm using a 9' zipper but i keppt your other measurements the same and the bag isn't coming out how i had hoped. i did your other bag perfectly but this one is giving me a run for my money.
@@alexishollis1580 I think you're getting confused between the outer/main bag and the outer pocket, which is sewn over top of one of the main bag pieces. 00:46 shows the measurements for the lining pieces and the outer pieces. All four pieces are 7" x 8". Note that the outer bag is shown as 1 piece leopard and 1 piece blue polka dot. 00:53 shows the various pockets. Pocket #1 has two pieces. The bottom piece measures 6.5". The top measures 2.5". Once the zipper is inserted, you should end up with a piece that is roughly 7" x 8". 2:48 shows the actual outer bag piece on the left (leopard) and the pieces for Pocket #1 on the right (floral).
This is hilarious. So I did it right the first time but I thought I messed everything up so I had like two break downs and said screw it. So when the pockets are added on it's supposed to measure 8" long?
Love the way it sounds like you are reading a book, a story or writing a novel!😍
Thanks, Charlene! Writing novels is my day job, so I guess it inevitably bleeds over into my tutorials. :D

Loved this tutorial! Straight to the point and whimsical. Loved the comments as well. Great job!

I loved this video, and I've watched multiple sewing videos. Simple, to the point and witty. Keep at, you're doing a fantastic job!
Absolutely. Some sewing video makers go on and on without saying anything useful so the watcher kind of loses the will to live.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. It was witty, funny and educational! Thanks for sharing the great project.
I sure hope I come upon MORE of your videos! (I will be looking for them now!)

Love the no- nonsense attitude. Can you please make pattern for the bag and add a flap for security options.

Love the tutorial, I'm going to try this without the zippers. I'm too cheap to buy zippers.
You ever think of making a saddle bag tutorial?
tutorial favolosooooooooooooo grazieeeeeeeeeeeee
I loved your video, thanks. I am a beginner and have difficulty with guessing. Do you have actual cut dimensions for each peice.?
Measurements start at about 00:35. There's also a text/photo version here: whatthecraft.com/how-to-make-a-crossbody-mini-bag-sewing-tutorial/
Loved it
Luv it..
I love this little bag. I made one for my granddaughter and then I made a larger one for myself. Now, I'd like one with a zipper for the main section. Do your have a tutorial showing how to include a top zipper?
This tutorial shows how to insert a top zipper: ruclips.net/video/gaZR007yynE/видео.html
nice body bag
Awesome
This is a great bag - It’s next on my to do list - just one thing- can u give dimensions of pocket #3 - thank you (I hate irons too) 😉
Pocket #3 is the same dimensions as the other main pocket pieces - 7" x 6.5". Just cut two so you have a pocket and a lining.
First off I love your tutorial, I am a very new sewer. Not sure if I missed this somewhere along the line but what size is the 3rd pocket? in the video I just seen the measurements listed on pocket 1 and 2...Thank YOU!
I was being lazy, so all the pockets are the same size (6.5" x 7"). Pocket 2 and Pocket 3 get trimmed after I decide where they're going on the bag.
Thank you!
👍
but what what what if that pocket really wanted to be a zipper pocket! you have limited it's ability sighs. LOL good tutorial and thanks i've been needing one of these something simple and easy to do.
How can I see your previews tutorials.
Here are all of my previous video tutorials: ruclips.net/p/PL805D59A562139423
And I have more non-video tutorials at whatthecraft.com
What is the size of pocket 3 please
It's the same size as pocket two (7" x 6.5").
OK Thanks! I guess i did't think it through! I thought you cut it. Didn't realize it was a separate piece!
One more..is the reason why you made the fabric loops attached to D rings so long... because you didn't have enough length of fabric for the straps? thx
No. I've made so many bags at this point that I'm sick of plain straps, so... I tend to experiment with D-rings for fun. XD
OK! there are some nice tortoise shell ones in Joannes. Im waiting to use them. they are rings not D's
ARE YOUR STRAPS ADJUSTABLE WHEN USING THE D RINGS..?
There is a way to make adjustable straps with D-rings, but on this bag, the D-rings are just decorative.
@@smarmyclothes GOTCHA..I MADE 3 BAGS SO FAR...GOOD INSTRUCTIONS!!!
What is the measurement for the stripes
Did you mean straps? If so, the measurements for the strap pieces are at 00:48
smarmyclothes
Yes!. Sorry. English is not my native language. I will check the video.
Both the lining and outer bag pieces are 7"x8".
The 7"x6.5" piece is part of a pocket.
Hope that helps!

Maybe zippers wi tic teeth would be cheaper, easier,
to insert and with no danger of breaking a needle etc.
Do you also run truthstreammedia?? You have the same voice! It's driving me nuts.
Nope. I do hear some similarity, though. XD
your work is great but you should iron all pieces before you start. makes it look junky.
I can tell you haven't watched my other videos, in which I often declare my hatred for the iron. XD
really nice purse; to look more professional, please iron your material before u start assembling. looks so amateurish.
pgh. phyl ...it's a mini bag for a stroll or quick outing. I wouldn't iron first.
lol
Awesome
