Love that you not only show how to make bags but that you offer instruction on elements of it. Such as the strap video. I spent way to much time on it until I watched your video. As a newbie, I really appreciate your tips. Your enthusiasm is great!
At last!!! I now feel confident enough to do an adjustable slider strap, I have done a couple of bags for my Daughter but had to consider her height for crossover bags straps as once made they couldn’t be adjusted! Thank you Vanessa, you are the only one that has explained and shown how to attach them, I have looked through many bag book illustrations but always got confused. Sonia from uk x
Thanks Vanessa! I made my mom a cross-body bag with adjustable strap for Mothers' Day, and used your tutorial to understand the strap configuration. Great tutorial!
Thank you! I've watched several videos on this specific skill but your tutorial resonates. Honestly, I think it's because you're so up beat and positive and don't fill your videos with "watch out for pitfalls and errors" which are intended to be helpful but can be intimidating. Instead you focus on the steps and helpful tips.
You are such a good teacher. I like that you explain why you do this or that, like why you don't sew the straps together with a straight line. I saw that in another video and it didn't make any sense to me since the person didn't explain. Thank you!
You are the most dynamic instructor on RUclips. Love watching your videos even if I am not making anything. Your enthusiasm is catching and you really do make things easy to follow. I always recommend you to my friends. Thank you!
I just successfully added a strap to a bag pattern I always use I wanted an adjustable one thank you so much for speaking clearly enough to understand :) my hero LOL :D
Perfect! Thank you for your expertise, I am making my sister a Dr Who shoulder bag for her birthday, you make such confusing things to do.... You make them achievable. Thanks again XXX Trish
Thank you for the sneak peak of bag #2. I have been a professional seamstress making and altering wedding gowns for 30 years. ( That sure makes me sound really old, but I started as a teen!) I have also done a little quilting over the years. I have purchased your 5 and 10 inch slicers and am excited to put them to use. I love bags and am also excited to join your bag of the month club! Thank you for sharing these sneak peaks.
You are awesome Vanessa! Thanks for all you do to bring us all of your many talents. Love using glue whenever possible, especially putting in zippers. I follow you on instagram and love seeing the pics of your adorable children and how they are following in Mom's footsteps. You're living the dream!
this is a tutorial for the adjustable strap, it is not removable which is the only way I have done mine, I just used your method on a purse for a pre teen.....worked great, Thank you for sharing.
Vanessa! Thank you so much! I really appreciated how you showed attaching the straps. They looked so strong. I love the ⬜ with the X in the middle. Thank you so much! You've made a beautiful handbag
This was really good. Your instructions are very detailed and easy to understand. It doesn't leave you with any process questions at all! I'm going to check out more of your videos.
I know that this video is from 2016, but I just stumbled upon it. I love the way you teach and I've commented on your video tutorials in the past. You make everything look so easy. I've learned a lot from your videos and I'm a beginner.
I watched your first video i am so excited about these purse projects i am not a novice i have been sewing for years but on that note haven't sewn a project in seeral years and i am looking at getting back into it ...Thanks for your awesome tutorials
Thank you so much Vanessa!! I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out how to make the adjustable strap on my cross-body bag and you broke it down easy peasy for me 😁👍
Just wanted to let you know I love this instructional video on adjustable straps. Looking forward to joining your Bag of the month club soon. Thank you.
I followed exact instructions using quilting cotton with woven interfacing. Strap was too thick to push through the one inch slider. Reduced strap width to 3 inches and has same result. Next time I won't interface ends of the strap.
i have just found you on youtube and i must say I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS !!! I am discovering so many things to use on my projects. thankyou for sharing 💋
Vanessa!! Can an adjustable strap be added to a purse that has the strap sewn in to the construction of the bag? In other words, omitting the two D-rings?
I am totally blown away that you're using regular elmers glue to baste. I've been using fusible web on all my straps, and it takes forever. Now I know I can save money as well as time.
This was the tutorial i needed!!!! Been wondering how to do the strap this way, since not two people are the same i need the adjustable strap! Thank you :D
I love that I can come back and refresh my techniques by watching the video tutorials you prepared again and again. Thanks so much for the information!
You do such a great job on your tutorials. I just went to your website and purchased the PDF and video lesson for the Tote Bag! All ready watched the video, now I just need to make the bag!
I made a granny square purse, I want a strap like this but also want hardware I can choose to connect to my pants or wear a cross body strap...do you recommend prices to disconnect to switch out straps
Great job, as usual, Vanessa. Will you please show how to add a sliding cushion, like the one found on a laptop bag? I load my crossbody bags to the max and would like to have a cushion between my shoulder and the strap. Thank you, and I look forward to the video series.
how did you attach the tabs and d rings to the back of the bag facing up? That is what I want to do as I find if you attached them to the sides, the handle/strap tends to hang to the front or back, not even. Thank you.
You're awesome, I felt like that was rocket science before I found your videos. I subscribed and I hope to do that someday make a whole handbag. I sew by hand untill I can get me that little mini machine w/ a back stitch. :D
Thank you for another great tutorial. Was wondering if you might want to demonstrate making a larger bag (like a sport bag or gym bag). I am going to work on one soon and think you would have some excellent tips that would make my task much easier!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I just had one question. I just want to know how you attached the other d rings to the purse where the zipper was placed. Were the D rings sewn in before you put the zipper or after. Were they sewn on the outside of the fabric by top stitching?
Love that you not only show how to make bags but that you offer instruction on elements of it. Such as the strap video. I spent way to much time on it until I watched your video. As a newbie, I really appreciate your tips. Your enthusiasm is great!
You are amazing, Crafty Gemini! I can always count on you to make confusing steps clear! Thank you.
Still timely after all these years!!! I can always count on finding what I need in your extensive library. Thanks Vanessa.

You are my saviour! I finally was able to install an adjustable bag strap. Everyone else had me ready to be committed!🤪

You are an excellent teacher. Thank you for your videos!
LOVE LOVE your projects Vanessa! I've made so many things using all the scraps I've collected over the years. Keep your projects coming.
