Restore It O-O not so fast mate please think of what you are doing if I were to be like you in your place I would let the awesome guys do their things that way people are happu
This is such a sick rebuild. It's sad they don't make cars like the iconic E30 anymore. I also nearly was drooling when I saw the finished valve/rocker cover. Outstanding.
I know this is a real engine and therefore FAR more intricate than any game, but I have fallen in love with Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. It's given me an appreciation for the basics (I can now identify most parts of a car engine/brakes/suspension by sight), and insight into how difficult the job you're doing here really is. That straight 6 is going to be gorgeous once rebuilt.
This is fantastic! Just a tip on masking parts with small holes, use expanding foam ear plugs, then just snip off the end, it'll save you a ton of time.
This rebuild is going to be so satisfying to watch. I watched the first ep and thought the next one would be a clickspring amount of time away. Then suddenly two episode showed up! This is why we subscribe gentleman.
Steve! The way you methodically do your work makes what seems like a nightmare seem doable. You have a brave soul--wearing a white t-shirt to degrease with splatters. That's a nice sexy paint job. I can't wait to see videos of your taking the E30 to its first car show. We'll all be so happy and proud for you. Take care, my friend.
Gary! Why is life so hectic I can't remember my left from right! I'll send you a message right now! The white tee was a very bad idea by the way! haha. Thanks as always Gary, take care. Speak in 10 mins!
These video's are so in handy, way better than a instruction manual. Im also restoring a m20b25 but im stroking it to a 2.8. These vids help me so fkng much! Thanx from the Netherlands
That cover is like a jewel. It should be on the outside of the car LOL. Just an idea. Consider some simple portable folding tables for parts layout as you do this kind of work often. It will help save your back (you only get one). I'm also a big fan of large and small magnetic trays; as you're breaking a component down It saves searching the floor (or the engine bay for 3 small bolts that just vanished under the engine. A really useful item is a few gravel trays from a garden centre (they are cheep and have a lip so they keep oil and other fluids from spreading).
You make restoring and working on your cars and other things look easy. You have my vote, liked and subscribed. This is the type of videos I love watching, tearing things down and putting them back together again.
Your videos help me relax. So nice seeing the attention to detail. Plus it's so different from all the other car stuff going on. keep up the great videos
Wonderful stuff as always and thanks for that sponsor link too. That little Ibiza is a rare machine in RHD these days, yours looks saved from the dreaded rust!
Hey man, can you do a video on how you itemize and sort out your hardware so you dont loose track of parts or forget whilst in rebuild phase? That would be awesome. Cant wait to see the finish. I watched all your vids!
Maaan! This kind of work you do is the way that everyone should restore cars, the propper way. I admire yor work and i really think that you should be sponsored by bmw. Great job and i'm waiting for the next video. Congrats!!!
Big thank you, Andrei! I would die of joy if BMW sponsored me haha... maybe one day. I'm going to push myself to make sure the next episode is out next Thursday. Thanks, man.
I don't really know u but I surely know that u are a perfectionist.i suggest u clean the outside of the gearbox if this is not part of your plans. Keep the good work!!!
Greetings from America. When i see all the parts spread out like that on the floor, its quite overwhelming. Props for taking on a new job like this. I'd like to do the same someday.
I can't belive you can find the time for this. It took me around 2 months, just to restore the valve cover om my nugget pug 206 gti 😂 Kudos from Denmark :D
Loving the videos mate! Quick tip: You can get a type of paint called direct gloss or aka 2k, which is basically base and clear in 1, you could potentially use that on the other parts to save yourself some time
Awesome job.... one little advice, use ethanol with 1% benzotriazole diluted in, and put all the aluminum parts in for a few days _ one week max after cleaning (in a big basin so the parts are submerged). This will get a nice protection of the surface like a cement, without changing the coulour of aluminum. Of course you can paint after if you want but even not painted it will hold nicely. I have used this on a Focke Wolf 190 A8 wheel that was 70 years old. For surfacing sandblasting with glassbeads makes a great deal on aluminum surface.
It’s been 10 years that I did a rebuilt of a M20 engine. Heavy as hell but man it is a very simple engine to work on. The only thing that will fail is a head gasket and a throttle body sensor. The M50B25 was a far more better engine in any way though and there is a possibility to get it in your E30 😉 standard 190hp instead of 170hp too.
Awesome...you're very applied guy, you surprise me. So, i think you have much experience and although it's a work where you work alone, i think still about you worked in a industry of automotive. Anotherhand, the perfection of your paint technic cannot be explained
You must have way to much spare time, but I admire work, if I had the time, I will do the same, but with a vw instead ;) looking forward to see the finished car..
The attention to detail on this E30 is crazy.
Thanks, dude! It's why they take so long to come out but I'm working on speeding things up.

@@RestoreIt man, take your time. we'll happily follow along. i may build a channel for the resto of my 325. i aspire to this level of detail
Oh man cant wait to see the car fully restored!! Amazing work!! Glad I stumbled on this channel years ago!
Thanks, MaKos!
Actually, maKos means I'm a pussy/vagina. In Persian. Soooo... let me get in than haha
With your valve cover restaured like that , i'm shure you'll gain at least 20 HP min ! 😉 Great job !
Oh, it's an easy 35hp gain... Haha thanks, Frank!
This is such a sick rebuild. It's sad they don't make cars like the iconic E30 anymore. I also nearly was drooling when I saw the finished valve/rocker cover. Outstanding.
You should ask the paint manufacturer if they want to be a sponsor. 😀
And a supplier for sandpaper
This is such a cool project! I've not seen anything like this restoration on RUclips before. So. Much. Detail. I love it.
That rocker cover result is amazing . Thanks for showing us the products you use .
I think block sanding the top would have made it easier

Your channel rocks! Can't wait for episode 4!!

great performance greetings from Turkey
Greetings from Turkey, for a long time I'm in pursuit of perfect craftsmanship, waiting for the finished version of the tool.
Excellent work. You have all my admiration. Clear from the labels that you use, you never will surrender to any difficult part!
Man, i don't know if it's asking too much but i would love to see a asmr out of a video like this. Great work, keep it up
When you see the time and effort spent getting that rocker cover to look like that you know this is gonna end up amazing
Sweet rocker cover man.
That cover looks stunning. Props for keeping the level of perfection up with so much still to do.
Very good restoration
Thanks, Peja!

Those BMW letters and silver lines remained stained from black paint. Better cleaning was required, before clear coating.
