Jimmy Vaughan is also a master at the guitar and he is an expert of what all that guitar can do and will do..your another all time GREAT Jimmy..love your music
My favorite part is at 1:52 or so Gary plays a lick that turns Jimmy's head. That says a lot. Jimmy is a master. Props to Gary for playing with taste as always.
I don't think so. It certainly looks that way at first. but what Gary was playing didn't really stand out to me, and I just don't see it being anything that would cause that type of reaction (and that is not a knock on his playing). Also, the way Jimmie doesn't really smile after, or have much of an expression on his face, and the way he holds his head in the same position afterward, with no further reaction or acknowledgement towards Gary, makes me think the head turn wasn't from Gary's playing. What it again closely, maybe you'll get what I'm saying.
To all people who say that jimmy is not that good or so, it seems that the death of SRV deeply affected is playing , after it looks like he didnt feel the need to prove himself like he use to do. Thing is that people are comparing him to his brother although they play texas style blues, Jimmy was more of a old fashioned 50's-60's style and SRV was more experimental deeply influenced by hendrix. here what he used to be in is prime with the t-bird befor is brother died : ruclips.net/video/pvQJD9VB3Io/видео.html
I'm sorry. By looking at some of these comments, I feel like in the twilight zone. I check on Jimmy's playing occasionally to see if ever gets better. I'm sorry but this guy is a result of someone who should have given up guitar and played piano. He plays the blues like you would expect a white guy to play to play the blues. His playing reminds me of a newbie player who just learned a pentatonic blues scale but doesn't quite know what to do with it yet. If he wasn't Stevie's brother most people would never have heard of him. He definitely wouldn't be on the same stage with BB, Clapton and Guy. He seems like a really nice guy and I kinda feel bad for saying it, but he truly sucks.
Profound. Insightful. Not. "Plays the blues like you would expect a white guy to play." That's precious. Let's here you play a pentatonic scale. I wonder what that would sound like?
@@02mgnm you wander what that would sound like? Lol. Well let's just say I'm no SRV, but I've been playing blues guitar for 27 years. Maybe it's just a matter of taste but I am entitled to my opinion. Sorry if I offended you.
@@eclecticmusica I never claimed to be an expert. To put words in someone's mouth is very snowflakeish. And you won't see any of my playing on the internet. I have a successful career that isn't in the music industry. Perhaps I'm misinformed and just haven't seen Jimmy prove his ability. Maybe you can provide me with a link that could open my eyes. But from what I've seen, his playing lacks feeling, technique and speed. Now I know that speed alone doesn't make a good guitar player but feeling and technique does. Maybe you took offense to my comment because you haven't reached Jimmy's level of playing. If that's the case, try setting the bar a little higher that Jimmy when looking for inspiration. Strive to be able to licks from SRV, Jimmy Page, Clapton, Peter Green, BB King, Albert Collins, and even John Mayer. Or maybe you don't play guitar at all and your judging Jimmy's playing from listeners point of view rather than a players. And that's fine too but it makes you less qualified to determine if someone is a good guitar player. Fame doesn't equal talent and I think that reflects heavily in todays pop music.

@Bo Riddley I wouldn't go quite that far, but theres certainly some truth to it.
Bo Riddley I see some bitterness there. Why?
Bo Riddley I’m sorry than jimmy , his brother , and the entire band (plus groupies) ran a train on your then wife. Must’ve been hard to get over.
Glad to see you two playing together. The old teach the young ,that is what they are there for.
Love Jimmies killer tone. No verb just straight in!
