Love that Dave Grohl can step back and let other artists that play with him shine; his own band members too. He is one talented and gracious human being❤️
That was the straight up best foo fighters live rock ive seen ....god bless Jimmie Vaughan....and mad respect to dave and the boys for realizing his importance to rock music and turning a whole new generation to him! 👍
I don’t know how I missed this, but thank you, Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters.! This band understands its musical genealogy, just as both Vaughan brothers did, and I love seeing Jimmie put on a musical pedestal. Gary Clark, Jr. is another of Jimmie’s more direct musical offspring and I love his playing too. On a more somber note, RIP Taylor Hawkins. Very bittersweet watching him on the kit.
Agreed on all … Gary Clark, Jr is a beast of a guitarist ! So many of the younger generations have lost touch with real music and what good musicians offer !
i saw him back in 2021, it was a cool show but you could tell age has not been kind to him. I remember being kinda bummed when he was soloing on the crawl because i was so use to hearing him tear it up in old t birds footage
I love Jimmie's style, rather than playing 100s of notes or using effects he keeps it tasty, staccato and funky. Unlike many he's clever enough to not overplay.
Jimmie Vaughan...while his brother spewed tons of unbelievable notes, Jimmie is always my favourite, a single note and nuance from him says tons. And my respects to Foo Fighters, I would not had thought they knew Fabulous Thunderbirds' songs. Great!!
Anybody who's ever been anybody has played Austin City Limits! No exception here, that was great, in my home growing up, ACL was played every saturday evening at 6 i think, not sure, my dad watched it all the time as far back as i can remember, the first performance i can remember on the show for some reason was Emmylou Harris, i know i didn't spell that right, but back then she had that very long to floor hair and played the black guitar with roses on it and playing "two more bottles of wine" i think, she used to almost growl those songs back then, so even i don't watch it on a regular basis these days, glad it's still around and have bands like Foo Fighters on it, fuckin cool, and I want a go home with the armadillo.. ha ha!
Dave Grohl has made some intelligent choices (by 2002) in keeping FF like family for 20 years..love the "weird/awesome" chemistry that radiates in all their performances..Thank you for sharing this
Absolutely brilliant, I bet u that not many musicians with turned down playing with David grohl . Everytime all the other members of the Foo Fighters most pinch themselves. Because of who they have played with. But dave always seems to take a back seat roll. & let whoever he is playing with shine more. Because he appreciates there musicianship
🇨🇱Saw Jimmy & Thunderbirds on Chorpus Christy 🇨🇱 beach in '88 by accident! Awesome! Jimmy still has it, hats off to the VAUGHANS! Didn't know Shiflett had some juice, COOL! GC Jr. Great as ever!
Always loved this song! Had the chance to see it almost by accident, live at Mont Tremblant Blues Festival, didn't know The T-Birds would be there! Ask for it and they played it! Saw Joe Bonamasse too, when he wasn't very known at that time.
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Ride Captain Ride, LOVE that song. I had an old K-Tel cassette that had a rare version on it, can't seem to find that version anywhere (the vocals were in tune, lol). Let me know if you locate him!
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Well, the version that was on the cassette had vocals that were in key with the song and a slightly different intro, it also had different vocal phrasing. The version was here on RUclips, trust K-Tel to put out a re-recorded version of the song, lol.
Dave Grohl and the band get it, far as paying tribute to the influences and greats. Very respectful as later generation rock musicians. This may be what it takes to bring music back to what it's meant, without the extra crap dubbed into pop/rock music today.
Jimmie Vaughan is just about my favorite guitarist mostly because he is not a shredder - but occasionally I get worried about him because sometimes in later years he can be, rarely only, just off the beat. I hope there is nothing wrong! But when he is on the beat - mann oh mann!!!
I always feel he has a strange fingering style where his fingers always seem very straight and stiff and he kinda throws them away from the fretboard between notes and he appears a bit awkward as a result. I've always preferred the 'less is more' approach of players like Jimmie though.
He just looks unsure of himself playing. It's not the case but I get the impression for some reason. The other guitar players just seems more confindent and appear to be much more relaxed and purposeful in their approach. I have said this watching him play for many years. I also have been playing guitar for many years. Most of his material has been pretty ease to cover. His playing style is good but simple. Watch him on a few videos and you may get
We can see that among musicians Jimmie is really well respected, of course. Those who can only understand the speed of the notes maybe can´t hear the real music. By the way why people don´t ask who is the world´s fastest heavy metal singer? ; )
Love that Dave Grohl can step back and let other artists that play with him shine; his own band members too. He is one talented and gracious human being❤️
if it wasn't for these blokes. Grohl knows it. Delve people.
Big respect for Dave letting everyone get their turn to shine and showcase their talents.👍
The respect shown to Jimmie by Foo Fighters, probably the biggest band in the world at the moment, is immense.
Foo Fighters have never been "the biggest bamd in the world" at any time in their history.
That was the straight up best foo fighters live rock ive seen ....god bless Jimmie Vaughan....and mad respect to dave and the boys for realizing his importance to rock music and turning a whole new generation to him! 👍
DAVE GROUL IS A LEGEND DRUMMER SINGER SONGWRITER AND I THINK HE DID A MOVIE ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED ROCK STARS THERE IS 😊

Two of the nicest and most genuine musicians you'll ever meet in Dave and Jimmie.
Jimmie still got it as I saw him a month ago. Rock On!
i saw him back in 2021, it was a cool show but you could tell age has not been kind to him. I remember being kinda bummed when he was soloing on the crawl because i was so use to hearing him tear it up in old t birds footage
Jimmie is a Legend!!!
The Foobulous Thunderbirds
Good one
They brought out Gary Clark Jr and Jimmie 😍😍😍
Best version of tuff enuff I've heard........
This makes it official, the Foos can do anything...........just the best.
They're a damn good cover band They're good with the who covers
What A Beautiful Thing To See And Hear !!! Them Honoring Jimmy Vaughn And That Song Was So Special !!!
I admire the Foo fighters for paying there respect to the people that influenced them
I wish I lived in Austin, jimmy and Dave. Who would have thought.
I love Jimmie's style, rather than playing 100s of notes or using effects he keeps it tasty, staccato and funky. Unlike many he's clever enough to not overplay.
Definitely and if the student was that good which is his brother you know the professer is great too!
You know it Man!
So right - I am sick of hearing people shredding on the guitar. I play the bass and some bass players do it and it's just showing off to me!
@Talkin Bout Nawlins there is not even the slightest possibility that he is better than his brother. Listen to that sloppy playing in this.
Stevie once said he plays all he knows, but Jimmie plays only half of what HE knows.👍
Jimmies the man he still has it! Sorry to all the haters. He's as sweet as sugar on guitar ya'll believe that! It's true!
+Bill Beardskey Haters gonna hate just because he's not another SRV clone.
He is my opinion a unique guitar player, maybe he dosen't play the fastest licks but damm he make every note sound like an orgasm to my ears.
@@VisionaryofMirage There are millions of SRV clones - boring!
no brag.
just fact.
Jimmie Vaughan an absolute legend
for me music is the soul of the universe and they just proved it that was amazing god s gift to us
Jimmie's dual Grammatico Kingsvilles sound great and look awesome. I love his sound and approach.
5:00 I love how Jimmie was leaning in to look at Chris's playing during Chris's solo. He was totally into it! 👊🇺🇸
This is what music is all about... Different styles sharing the stage.. Doing great music...Man I love this...
By far thr coolest shit ive ever seen. Nirvanas old band with the Texas Vaughans. Somewhere Kurt and Stevie are laughing and jammin man.
Shiflett kicks arse here. At least he had some volume here compared with other live stuff.
Jimmie Vaughan...while his brother spewed tons of unbelievable notes, Jimmie is always my favourite, a single note and nuance from him says tons. And my respects to Foo Fighters, I would not had thought they knew Fabulous Thunderbirds' songs. Great!!
dude he plays like he's constipated dont kid yourself

I'm not a huge foo fighters fan, but this song kind of blew my mind.
Epic !!!

4:03 ... Chris Shiflett channels SRV just a little bit.
Yeah its clips like this that makes you more aware of just how good a singer Kim Wilson is
That bass player is no Preston Hubbard, either. Fran Christina? Swings like crazy.
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Dunno, I'm from Michigan! They really rocked the hell out of the songs, though. RIP Preston
@Talkin Bout Nawlins About ten miles outside of Flint. Haven't heard the name Mike Pinera, where was his blues band playing?
@Talkin Bout Nawlins Ride Captain Ride, LOVE that song. I had an old K-Tel cassette that had a rare version on it, can't seem to find that version anywhere (the vocals were in tune, lol). Let me know if you locate him!

OMG check out all that talent! I hope they had as much fun as I just did...
Ata boy Chris!!! Wow! Great tone!
how is it that dave and taylor only get better? always gonna love these guys
outstanding,never turn jimi's amps down,rock solid sound,genius doesn't age
Yes very cool. Wow. Never seen this vid until badass guitarist J.J. Vicars in Alliance, Ohio shared on Facebook. . .
This is music greatness. ❤️ Love seeing Grammatico Amps front and center. 🔥🔥🔥
Why did I not know this existed??!! This is so awesome!
Saturday nights on PBS
This just shows how relevant Jimmy is. A legend on a legendary stage with a legendary band.
Absolutely true. An OK song here, but Kim takes it 10 levels higher with his soulful delivery.
I come back to this video every few months just to see Shifty tear it up.
Damn 😳
All this video shows is that people should be battering down Shiflett's door for him to play with them. So underated.
The moment when Chris Shiflett do a very good solo and you think "wo this guy is good.. why i didn't know that before?"
Really awesome! Plus this song is so well crafted!
shifty just showing what he can do. Not all that southern blue kinda style but man can he move a melody
Kim, jimmy an the BIRDS ,what more needs to be said...
Fuckin awesome shame srv couldn't be there to Mr group u did this song with respect
craZZZZZy live !!thxxxx
Yeah Baby!
That's music...my oh my
One of the best songs ever....i love dave but nobody sings like kim wilson
I worked with a cover band who used the words "Ain't no muff too tuff." 🤣
Go Chris!
Great version!
Chris Shiflett killing it!
Dave did a nice job singing that tune..
Cool
Yeehaw Jimmie
Just imagine SRV never got in that helicopter
David Portnoy killing it in the denim shirt
The way I see it if Stevie's biggest influence was his brother, he sure as Hell deserves the utmost respect from us mortals.
💓💓💓💓💓
tone!
look at jimmys looks to chris in the solos. chris is just great guitarist and foo dont use him like he deserves.
Dynamite version of this song.
Way to go GUY,S Jimmie...
♥♥♥
Goosebumps… and now that Taylor is gone it’s just that much more so..
Fantastic! And I disagree. Love the stark method of Gary and Jimmy. More of those two together would be great. Just mo. D~
fuckin awesome
After many years I'm still confused by seeing Pat Smear playing a Thunderbirds tune haha
That was bad ass, but tastefully restrained lead guitar displayed by all. Can anyone tell what guitar Pat Smear is playing?
it's a Gibson ES, some of them have those pointy ends, unlike the rounded ones
@@michaelt.2009 Barney Kessel??

Was a this the occasion when Gary Clark Jr. first got that SG from Dave Grohl?
At 3:22 to the end is magic.
What???
Dave Grohl CAN actually speak 5 words without dropping an f-bomb???
SHOCKER!!!
Jimmie fuckin’ Vaughan!!!!!!!
who's playing the Friedman amps I wonder
Chris Shiftlett
Thunder Death 2 foos Chris Shifflett
Wholllllll
Drummer...could do a GREAT "Tooth Whitener" Commercial 😁 "Awesome"!
Dave’s need to play more blues ✌🏼
Stevie is so much better than anyone on stage
If you like shredding - if you don't then not so much although SRV was one in a million!
Shakespeare was a better writer than all of us too.
it's his own style, he could play louder, faster but it's Jimmie !
Jimmy’s missing his spurs and six shooters.
Yep!!
Oh ya!
JLV is a guitar slinger...
Pat smears what a chameleon
