It’s an OUTDOOR High School Record. Mary Cain ran 9:38.68 indoors. The one I’m more excited about is Elizabeth Leachman. For one thing, she’s only a sophomore and she ran Portland a few days earlier. Also, she beat all collegians in the 5,000m at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays with a time of 15:25.27. That’s 3.107 miles. Her time at the 2 mile mark would have been 9:55.60 and she’s been invited to compete in the Olympic Trials 5k.
Allie running out of her mind right now. To give some perspective on how much faster this time was than anything before it, Hedengren ran a full 7 seconds slower than her here but still ran the second fastest outdoor 2 mile of all time...
@@gregorypalardy1979Sometimes it is the only option to run in lane 2 but this was difficult bot to get dropped. She did seem worn out from the prior race. A race like this is a sign to focus on recovery for a few days and to have a frequent rest day during the Training week.
Alot of fast girls in this race! Really impressed with San Juanita Leal from the RGV in Texas!!

I think we all know what a 5k is lol
Yes, Elizabeth Leachman is a phenomen.
The way she can drop the field after already such a fast pace! Allie you are amazing!!
This was the most stacked field I've seen in a while: a veritable who's who of two milers. 🏃♂️
Congratulations!

Didn't Leachman run in Portland earlier like a day or two ago?
Her stride looks real choppy in this race like she is hurt some.
Yes

Not a HS Record if it is second fastest. Meet record does not equal HS Record.
Outdoor record.
