Wow, Elizabeth Leachman learned a lot from last week's NXN race. She kept just a bit in the tank for the first mile. What a great effort, and what a bright future. Forsyth, too, was amazing--a crazy pace for the first mile, still managed a great finish. Big heart.
Watching the NXN regionals and then the championship I've got to say that Leachman has probably one of the most beautiful strides in a high schooler that I've seen in 30 years. You can just see the confidence in the knee drive and power off the back end. She runs like Sifan Hassan, just smooth! She already runs like a sub 2:20 marathoner, just needs more endurance.
Elizabeth is tough as nails. She has to be helped off the track because she exhausted herself so thoroughly in the finish. A real class act every time she is interviewed. She needs to get a free ride from Stanford. No matter how her running career goes, if she gets a free ride and a top flight school, she's a huge winner. It will be fun to watch her further develop the next few years.
This course is in my backyard and I can tell you from the bottom of the dog park to the top of the hill is a sneaky climb! Up from the bathroom, the dirt section is super steep but it's the dog-leg bit to the actual top of the hill where your legs get so spongy - it's work! Can't wait to run it Monday morning and check my time.
Amazing! The 1st time running this and she finishes it in the 9th fastest time in 43yrs (37yrs at that course) and only the 13th girl to run it under 17 minutes. I know she's bothered by a hamstring injury right now but, being the end of the season, with rest and therapy. I can only imagine what the next couple of years of running this again will produce in her times!!
So glad to see this. I had to Stop the Action at 4 minutes in to complain about the horrible interruptions in the feed?? Is that an accurate observation? If so, what's up with that at Foot Locker with their techie crew ? But, such solid coverage of an amazing race. Thnx oodles for not disclosing the winner up front!
I wish the race director would make a change to how this race is videoed. That lead cart ALWAYS stirs up a dust cloud. Imagine being the front runner and having to breathe in all that dust? And is that a gas-powered cart? If so, then the dust is also mixed with disgusting exhaust. PLEASE think of the health of the runners !!
Because it’s long distance. You’re supposed to jog in long distance because you can’t sustain your speed for long enough if you sprint in a long distance. It’s the opposite for 100m dash, etc.
Great race; amateurish videography and editing. Long stretches talking about the leaders and making moves while showing an empty section of the course.
Thank you for uploading the video without announcing the winner! So much more fun to watch.
I agree!
True! NCAA please take note

Leachman redemption after NXN. So happy for her. Just wish we hadnt lost the cart camera half way through...
good for her! she ran the perfect pace and left Forsyth take it out hard then she gradually reeled her in...only a sophomore also

Congrats to Ruth White of Orono, Maine. What a race!

I never miss the opportunity to see this race live in San Diego. It’s always a thrill to see the development of the future stars of U.S. running.
It's an awesome event here in San Diego! Luv watching the future MSU Spartans Rachel and Thomas!

Yes, but after you descend Upas you have to back up hill to just past the start. It is defiantly not a flat course.
Let us know if you beat 30 min.
Leachman will be an Olympic Champion in the future. ✌🏻🇺🇸

That was a good race! Winner crushed it.
Wish we saw this outta her at NXN
Leachman is really really good.
Beth Leachman is from Boerne, Texas. Boerne is 31 miles outside of San Antonio and is pronounced BURN-EE/ BERNIE
The camera kept jumping back and forth to much!!! Couldnt see what places the runners were in
Do better from the golf cart camera. Technical difficulties?
thanks for posting. Good race. Is it me or is the field a little small?
It is smaller. They used to run 60 which was 15 of each region but now they run 40 which is 10 from each region
@@uncleian0549ah, that explains it. Thanks. I'd imagine it was a cost-cutting measure but it's not a great look, particularly at the start.

filmed it with a potato by the look of it!!!
Why is there such a small field at Foot Locker, Is it because everyone went to NXN?
And the other Michigander Jessica!!!
Great job, ladies! (But sorry to see the sparse crowd.)
When's the boys race?
It's processing.

Agreed. What's wrong with using a regular electric golf cart? You could even use a tesla/volt/prius.
There are two aliens in San Antonio : wembanyama and Leachman.
